Just... raw? Baked?

You can cook them, but they are lovely and crunchy raw. In Mexico, they often put cucumber, jicama, coconut with lime, salt and chili powder sprinkled on it all. One of my favorite snacks. I usually add strips of red bell peppers too.

So hard to choose but here goes (no particular order):

  • Local, pasture-raised, 100% grass fed ground beef (mostly for ease of preparation)
  • Orange-flesh sweet potato (which I just learned is not a real yam)
  • Tomatoes (I add these to pretty much everything)
  • Spinach (the most versatile leafy green!)
  • Avocado
  • Ghee/Coconut oil (coconut oil for versatility - I use it on my hair and skin - and ghee for flavor... its a toss up)
  • Local, pastured, rainbow eggs
  • Salt/pepper/cayenne pepper/cinnamon (I can live with only these four spices)
  • Berries (particularly strawberries and blueberries)
  • Canned coconut milk

Man that was tough! Some recent/new loves include:

Padron peppers, Pink Pearl apples, fresh cilantro, cinnamon on savory food, Revive Kombucha made in Sonoma County, and my new Live Earth Farm CSA (I pick up my first one next week)

I also plan to make bone broth for the first time this week.

yay for new adventures!

Okay, so let see how much I can squeeze in this list...........here goes!!

1)Wild, Grass fed, pasture raised hippie animals that swim, walk on land and also produce hippie goodness ( that should technically cover all types of meat fish and finally eggs & all rendered fats from these animals are the "hippie goodness produced") :-). I think that would also include ghee into this statement .......hehehehe

2)Herbs in all forms

3)Avocados ( every form of its tasty goodness)

4)Coconut ( in all its forms- flaked, creamed, oil, butter, milk, floured)

5)In season leafy greens

6)In season veggies to include year round veggies ( yes any type you can think of and can get your hands on)

7)In season fruits to include year round fruits

8)Olives (every aspect of the olive in all its shapes colors and forms) :-)

9)Nuts ( the good ones in all its shapes and forms especially in its oil form)

10)Water, preferably filtered of some kind

And last but not least........ Any of the above listed can then be used by itself, or combined with another listed item to get things like mayo or any other deliciousness

That should do it. :-)

Love everybody's lists, if only for new ideas of things to try! I'm only 9 days in, but here's my list so far:

1) Pork (pork loin chops, pulled pork in slow cooker, and bacon/breakfast sausage when you can find it without all the extra stuff)

2) Grass fed beef

3) Eggs

4) Squash

5) Coconut Butter

6) Kale

7) spinach

8) Onion (what can't you make better with onion?)

9) Tomato (again, it's so versatile: it's soup, it's sauce, sundried or roasted, cherry or beefsteak or plum...)

10) Ratatouille (veggie goodness comfort food: squash, eggplant, tomato, onion, peppers, olive oil, and some other stuff I think)

what do you do with Kale?

Well there are a couple of different things you can do with kale

1) saute it in coconut oil, and garlic, then add a tablespoon or two of coconut aminos

2) Cut it fine and cook it overtop of cauliflower and put a nice smoked sausage on top (the sausage will flavour the kale and cauliflower and vice versa) then when everthing is cooked. Take the sausage on top and serve it seperately then mash up the kale and cauliflower together. Pour a bit of olive oil over it and then enjoy. (You could use cooked and crumbled bacon instead of the sausage but you don't need to cook it together with the cauliflower. Just mash it along with everything else)

3) Kale chips - Wash, spin dry, lightly coat with olive oil. Salt it (You could also add garlic powder or cayenne) and put it in you over @ 400 F for 10 to 15 min (every oven's different) They should become a little bit brown and crispy.

Kale is a super duper vegetable. I absolutely love it. And it is a comfort food for me. (I grew up on the stuff)

If your coconut milk doesn't have any additives it will naturally separate into a thick solid white part and a more watery part. The solid part is coconut cream. On the other hand, over here anyway, creamed coconut is like the whole coconut meat blended, some people call it coconut butter.

*Sweet Potatoes

*Beets

*Eggs

*Pastured Chicken Breasts

*Bacon (local, un-sugared, as an addition rather than a main dish)
