DollyDagger
I found a great hot sauce recipe but it calls for honey...any recommendations for a substitute?
jent103
A lot of condiment recipes use dates or figs as a replacement (here's one example). For hot sauce, you also might try just leaving out the sweetener.
GLC1968
I don't know if it would work for a hot sauce due to consistency, but I sub in unsweetened applesauce for the honey in a BBQ chicken recipe I have and it works great. My non-paleo husband actually likes it better that way because it's less sweet overall.
Carlaccini
I've boiled down pineapple or apple juice to make it like a syrupy like consistency. Takes a few minutes to do but it works rather well I think.
angekfire
I've used unsweetened apple sauce, or pineapple juice depending on what I'm making.
GlennR
Also try pureed ripe Asian pear. I've used these in marinades that would normal call for honey or maple syrup. Added bonus: marinades with this ingredient really help to tenderize meat.
