I'm 4 weeks pregnant and getting ready for a whole 30

Recommended Posts

I can't share it with anyone else yet, but I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby.  I got a faint positive with the EPT test, and then retested the next morning with a Clear Blue test that says "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant"...and it said "Pregnant"!  Wahoo!

I am already paleo- I don't eat grains, legumes, or vegetable oil/canola oil.  I don't eat cheese, milk, or other dairy, but if there is a small amount in something I am not concerned.  For instance, 85% dark chocolate.  But on the whole 30 I am willing to give that up.

I eat eggs & sweet potato for breakfast, homemade vegetable soup with added ground beef for lunch (a new batch with different veggies every couple weeks), and dinner is always based around chicken, turkey, or beef.  Like meatballs, nuggets, etc with dip.  I make kale chips or carrot fries to have on the side, or some other roasted veggies based on whats left over in the fridge.   Then I love to have a green smoothie and a piece of fruit as a treat.

I'm looking for tips for good times to start the whole 30 during pregnancy.  Also I'm looking for advice on if there are whole 30 "cheats" for pregnant women besides getting to snack when hungry.

I'm already taking Pure Encapsulations muti-vitamin with Vit. K.  But I'm planning to order fermented cod liver oil, so I hope that arrives soon.

Thanks!
Amy

Everyone is different, but I know that I would've struggled during my first trimester, because of food aversions and lack of energy. I just finished my W30 and started at 23 weeks. I thought second trimester worked really well, because I felt much less sick and could stomach huge servings of veggies :). I would've been fine to start around 16 weeks, I think. If you can do it earlier, that's awesome--I just felt too queasy.

As far as cheats, I definitely ate more fruit than recommended at first, and I ate a sweet potato every day. I felt like my body needed more carbs than I ate during my first (non-pregnant) W30. I was able to replace some of the fruit with veggies as my W30 went on.

Good luck, and congrats!

Impressing! I was rolled up in a heap most of the first half both pregnancies. And all I wanted to eat was carbs, carbs, carbs. I probably would have felt better if I ate better, but I just couldn't.

Congratulations and take care of the both of you!

Congrats! I just found out I'm about 5 week pregnant a few days ago.  I'm currently on day 3 of my whole30.  This is my 5th pregnancy and I generally don't have food aversions during pregnancy (aside from my 1st pregnancy) so I decided to start early because I desperately need to get back on track with proper eating.   It only being day 3 I haven't really noticed anything I need to do to modify the whole30 since I'm pregnant aside from needing some sort of snack a few hours after dinner.  I've grabbed an apple each night and that has worked wonderfully.

I found out on the 10th that I am 4 weeks pregnant with my 1st. I Started WHOLE30 on June 1st. No morning sickness yet but everything I am reading says "6 small high carb meals a day and lots of fortified grains for folic acid" I have my pre-natal supplements, but I am nervous I am not going to get enough by limiting my diet.

I also feel bogged down, maybe preggo brain and fatigue or lack or carbs and too much fat, I dont know? Everything else is going well, workouts, no sickness, no cheating (close calls though), Probably too much canned coconut milk and fruit, but hey you gotta draw the line somewhere. I have 12 days to go on whole 30. Help!

I am day 7 of the whole 30 and found out on day 3 that I was 4 weeks pregnant with our first baby.  My doctor has told me that Paleo is okay so I am going to keep going as long as I don't feel too sick.  So far so good!  Good luck with your Whole 30!
