Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 7, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2012 They are okay. Pistachios are not a great choice of nuts, so it is best to limit how many you eat. Better choices are macadamia nuts, cashews, and I'm forgetting the other one.
jhmomi
Tom - Your post got me curious so I checked and, per my Success Guide Healthy Fat Source page, macadamia nuts and hazelnuts rank highest "as they have very small amounts of PUFA per serving". Best choices for MUFA sources are: avocado, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, and olives (and the oils made from them avocado oil, macadamia nut oil, and olive oil). Pistachios are on the Occasional List along with almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, and pecans.
