Wildtree?

Has anyone gone to a Wildtree meal planning party? One of the members of the Paleo Meetup group here in Denver is hosting one of these parties. She says all the meals will be Whole30-compliant, but the photos on the website are chock-full of non-compliant ingredients.

Has anyone been to one of these parties? Were the foods compliant? Did you think it was a good value?

I looked at a few of the things on their website, and most are not compliant -- but I didn't look at every single one, so I may just have looked at the wrong ones. If you decide to go, ask her for the recipes beforehand so you can check ingredients.

If you want to explore new spices, my favorite way is to find a store that sells them -- like Penzey's, if there's one anywhere near you -- and just go in and smell them. I've been to Penzey's once, and then there's a local-ish spice store that's sometimes at the farmers market I go to, and both have open jars of the spices for you to smell. Or, I suppose, taste, although I'm not sure all of them would taste very good on their own. Do read ingredients on spice mixes, though -- I know Penzey's has some that have sugar in them.

I am actually hosting one this weekend and doing their paleo one. All of the spices used should comply with Paleo but not sure about Whole30. I'll be double checking though I'll be done with my 30 days. I did a primal wild tree freezer workshop and the food was great. Looking at my spices now and one of them is called opa Greek seasoning blend which has maltodextrin which would be noncompliant. I have another one which is the Mediterranean dry rub which lists evaporated cane sugar. Adobo seasoning is whole 30 compliant for sure. That's all I have on hand right now so definitely requires label reading!

Thanks sgreen81. As it turned out, the Wildtree party I posted about was cancelled due to a winter storm. The Wildtree rep delivered my spices to me & I did a "prep party" by myself at home. I've eaten about half the dishes & honestly I'm not a huge fan. Perhaps I didn't prepare everything correctly but for the most part the dishes seem underseasoned.

My best friend is a Wildtree consultant and send me a list of three different bundles that are supposed to be Paleo or Whole30 compliant!  I scoured the ingredients list and in the Paleo bundle, all but the Chipotle Lime Rub were compliant (it has maltodextrin!).  Another bundle, 4 items were not compliant.  The third bundle, everything was compliant.  I made sure to spell out for her why the items weren't compliant so she could educate her peers!   I did order the compliant bundle, it's called the "Simply Wholesome" bundle because I am nowhere near a chef and I have zero herbs, spices, etc. in my house.  I start 2/1 and this will help me make some yummy meals!

I'm also a consultant and have used Wildtree a lot and really like it. Lately they have come up with more compliant things, which is great. I have purchased bundles in the past and the idea of creating a load of meals at one time is really handy. You don't necessarily have to purchase bundles either, but it's a good way to buy a few products and have them work for several recipes. In the past I've started with a couple products and scoured their website for recipes that contain those products and find additional products that way and come up with my own bundle. And to the point of the second person who posted- this IS making your own food. You supply your own proteins and veggies. These products are just ways to do it efficiently and with ingredients that overall are pretty healthy.
