AmyS
I just bought a pork butt roast for the first time ever. I would like to roast it in the crock pot. Can I treat it basically how I would treat a beef chuck roast? I'm not sure exactly what to do with it. I could google or check my recipe books, but I'd rather hear from you folks what goes down well in your houses.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted April 26, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 26, 2015 I love the Zenbelly pork shoulder. http://zenbellycatering.com/2014/06/05/the-zenbelly-cookbook-sneak-peek-cocoa-chile-pork-shoulder/ The other one that we love, love, love is the Crazy Good BBQ Pork from Mel Joulwan....but it is more work for sure. http://theclothesmakethegirl.com/2010/11/11/crazy-good-barbecued-pulled-pork/
SpinSpin
We like to put a pork shoulder in the crock pot with taco seasonings and sliced onion and let it go all day and then use it for pork taco salads and the like. We also really like nom nom paleo's kalua pork http://nomnompaleo.com/post/10031990774/slow-cooker-kalua-pig
AmyS
Thank you! All of that looks really good. I bought two roasts today (crazy good sale), so I should be able to try one recipe this weekend and another one later.

Joslyne
We love this recipe for pulled pork sliders (sweet potato slices) - super easy and super good! http://miloche.com/2013/09/paleo-pulled-pork-sliders/
tierramar
another vote for Nom Nom Paleo's Kalua Pig - it's awesome and the leftovers can be used in a ton of stuff. I also saved the fat at the bottom of the crock pot for cooking other stuff
Frozenrozie2
I made this and was obsessed- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Purple cabbage slaw really good too. Ended up putting different sauces on it and felt like different meal each time. And best part -- so easy! http://everydaypaleo.com/beyond-easy-pulled-pork/
MeadowLily
We put it in the smoker for about 5 hours with hickory and chokecherry or cherry wood. Make a simple rub of black pepper, salt, garlic and onion powder. Finish it off in the oven for an additional 5-6 hours. It has a nice bark to it. Cbg84
I was very skeptical of the nom nom paleo recipe (I mean it's so simple how can it be that good?), but the first time I made it I literally stood over the crockpot when it was done and ate it with my hands. (I probably shouldn't admit to that should I?) Yes it is that good! I actually have one in the crockpot right now.
