Newly pregnant moms...?

Where are you getting your nutrition advice from?  I've been paleo for years - sometimes closer to W30 than others, lately I've actually been pretty good - higher fat, 3 meals a day.  Hubs and I have been TTC for over a year.  This month's IUI landed and I'm hoping it sticks :)

I'm now frantically googling everything prenatal and am confused... I get the "eat real food" and I will.  What I'm not sure about is supplements.  I've read Chris Kessler's piece and he suggests fermented cod liver oil, folate (vs folic acid), Vit D, fatty fish, etc.  Here is the link.  Are you guys doing this kind of stuff?  I take methylated folate (I have that MTHFR mutation) and Vit D (levels have always been low, I'll ask to get them checked).

So what are you guys doing?  My MDs (fertility clinic at this point) have already told me to quit crossfit so I'm not sure I'm 100% in line with their thinking of ways to support pregnancy... but then I feel like "well they are the doctors so maybe you shouldn't believe an internet forum...".

Argh!  Can I blame hormones yet for making me crazy or is it too early ;) ?

My husband and I did 4 IUI's (all failed) BUT from fertilization to the start of my period, they didn't want me doing anything very stressful. It is possible that maybe where the no CrossFit is coming from. Nothing strenuous or stressful until you are past the point of losing the baby -- possibly as long as the first trimester.

Congratulations by the way!!

I definitely still worked out while newly pregnant, but I limited high impact activities because genetically I think I might be prone to miscarriages (my mother had several). So I walked instead of running because I hadn't been running before my pregnancy, used a stationary bike instead of my actual bike because I live in Korea and have been hit by a car on my bike already...not risking that, and still did my weight lifting, but no jumping (sumo squats, lunges, dead lifts, chest/shoulder press, etc.). I was very careful to not hold my breath on any exercises and listened to my body. I was very exhausted during my first trimester from about week 6 on, so my workouts took a bit of a hit then but now that I'm well into my second trimester I'm definitely working out more.

You could check out pregnancy workout video youtube channels - a friend of a friend has one called Glow Body PT that has videos divided by trimester and type of workout that absolutely destroy me. I did prenatal yoga this morning and I'm starting to have trouble walking...

I took FCLO (fermented cod liver oil) before getting pregnant (currently 15 weeks!) but I haven't been able to keep it down since  I have a method to where I don't even fast it too! But for some reason my body rejects it or I get thinking about it to much sand yeah. Threw it up a couple of times and I think it has scared me for life haha! But as far as supplements go, I love Mama Naturals list and have been taking almost 90% of what she recommends. Heres the link to the post http://www.mamanatural.com/supplements-i-take-during-pregnancy/

But also, now that I'm pretty much out of the morning sickness/sever food aversion stage, I want to do another round of whole30. First trimester I had zero energy, so no working out, and sever morning sickness, which left me eating mac n' cheese, fruit and junk. So I'm feeling flabby haha

Anyone have any tips?

I take FCLO tablets, never have been able to deal with the non-tablet kind even before getting pregnant.

As for working out, I've been LOVING the Glow Body PT workouts on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrfjZPMfzIqYMCnmcYmwCXg. She's a friend of a friend and her workouts are short, she's actually pregnant so you kind of get that feeling of it being possible to do that thing, and you will absolutely feel the burn. I do those about twice a week with walking and some weight lifting the other days.

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow (but HOW DID THAT HAPPEN ALREADY?!?!?!?) and still don't quite feel like I could commit to a W30 but I've absolutely been trying to clean up my diet. Focusing more on increasing veggies than anything else right now as meat still isn't something I can do 3 times a day and GF grains happen once, maybe twice a day still.

Thanks for sharing this! I am newly pregnant and experiencing TONS of fatigue. I first felt it two weeks ago, I had to constantly stop during my WOD at Crossfit, when I usually feel unstoppable and full of energy.

I am having a hard time adjusting to my body changes, especially the low energy. I feel frustrated and just kind of down that I am unable to do the things I enjoy: work, working out, projects around the house.

I think I am seeking reassurance that this will pass. How did everyone else experience their first trimester, and does it get better?

Thanks!
