Kjb post Whole 30

I am going to finish tomorrow morning and immediately try some cream in my coffee, that is the one thing that I miss.  I could mostly stick to everything else for a while.  I hope it goes well.  I think I have lost about 8-10 pounds, i will see tomorrow.  I feel pretty good, still need to work more on sleep and digestion.  I may stay mostly on whole 30 for a while more.

No real reaction to dairy, a little gas maybe, stomach is a lot calmer than anytime during Whole 30, slept pretty well, I had some burning stomach yesterday that I attributed to drinking coffee before breakfast, waited until after today after a delightful fritatta.  Everything seems good this morning, lots of energy.  I don't think I will be eating dairy much however after reading about it.  Probably will go back to cream in coffee after reintroduction is over. Probably nothing else.

I may just not try any more reintroductions for a while. I am pretty happy with my foods and after many years of little sleep, I finally got 8 hours with little stomach pain.  That is even after I didn't have much for dinner after snacking on sweet potatoes and nuts on the way home from the city.  My indigestion is getting under control and I want to keep that going.  It won't be a real Whole 30 because I can have cream in my coffee without any repercussions but I don't feel the need for anything else.  It may come up sometime that I have to have some off-whole 30 foods because of circumstances but for now, just sticking with the program.  If I feel any effects from the cream, I will probably stop that.  It seems so easy now to make that chicken or turkey or salmon and roasted veggies and soup.  Pretty much like I used to eat without a few ingredients.  Maybe I will try a new recipe every once in a while, but mostly sticking to what feels good.

I am still struggling with reducing the mirapex and two nights ago I made it down to one dose but last night after a couple hours, i went back up to 1 1/2 but that is still half of the dose I used to take.  When I am awake, I try not to eat but I was really hungry so I had a piece of turkey and sweet potato, not my usual spoon of almond butter, and went to sleep for 5 and 1/2 hours with no indigestion.  I guess that will be my food of choice at night from now on.

Tried cheese yesterday, i don't see much reaction, perhaps my tongue was a little irritated but I am not sure if it was the cheese.  I am going to cut way down on the nuts, particularly at night, as those seem to cause a lot of indigestion.  They are just so easy to get, all the other food has to come out of the refrigerator and is a little more work.

PB, especially peanut sauce made me very bloated but tasted SO good.  But the bloat was too much, it is out!  Sun sauce is okay but not like peanut sauce.  Sleeping better last night, still woke up a lot but I set my alarm for 6am so I didn't have to look at the clock to know it wasn't time to get up yet.  Also, ordering curtain rods so I can make better curtains for the bedroom to block out all light from the street lamps.

Now I am recovered but I didn't sleep after 5 this morning.  Had a little nap this morning.  No pain right now.  I feel like I Could keep going on Whole 30 forever if I could just have cream in my coffee, everything else is easy.  Particlularly if intro feels as bad as the pb felt.

Okay, I think I got this, Finally sleeping mostly although by about 6 when I am actually hungry enough to wake me up and to get up.  But I now have a little meal of a piece of  turkey or chicken and a bite of sweet potato before 9 pm because otherwise I would wake up at 3 and be unable to go back to sleep.  Got my phone turned off, don't check the clock, ordering curtains to further darken the bedroom,  getting about 7 hours of sleep, I read my meditation book, Full Catastrophe, if I wake up and it puts me back to sleep. Still a little bloated, kind of like in the beginning of whole 30.  I don't think I will introduce anything unless I am really stuck away from home with no compliant food, which is unlikely as I usually plan pretty well.  I haven't lost any more weight though, I wish that I could. I would love to get to 135, I promised myself a haircut if I did.  I am getting my massage that I promised myself at the end of Whole 30.  I discovered that I had to have a chicken broth based soup going at all times to feel satisfied and not feel like I am cooking and in the kitchen all the time.  I am a little bored with chicken but haven't forced myself to get past the dislike to try pork or beef.  I still love eggs , amazing as that is.  Maybe I can start with a little bacon.

Finally sleeping all night, I still wake up but don't get up and go right back to sleep.  A little hit of chicken meatball last night before bed let me sleep all night with a lowered dose of RSL meds.  Lost another few pounds while gorging on chicken meatballs.  I just got a 13 pound turkey to thaw and cook.  Should be great food for quite a few days.

Woke up with swollen eyelids, a flare up of blepharitis,  I don't know how that happened except that I got an old sewing machine at a yard sale that was quite dusty and was cleaning it up yesterday.  No fun, my eye is really swollen, I look like I am 100 years old.  But I am able to sleep all night in bed for two nights in a row and only get up to get more Natural Calm magnesium, that stuff really works.  Food is going well, I just can't run out of readily accessible protein and the turkey is not quite thawed so I will have to make a couple chicken breasts or some meatballs.  I bought some organic ground beef to try, I haven't eaten beef for a number of years but am hoping that it will help to up my ferritin level and reduce restless leg.

Eye pain mostly gone with a little neosporin. Delicious shrimp stir fry this evening, although my tongue is not happy after dinner.  I am not sure what the problem is.  Sunsauce has some vinegar but I have had vinegar before in salad dressing.  I used a lot of coconut aminos in the stirfry.  Could be that.  

 

Tried intro to cheese again in my eggs this morning and discovered that I really didn't like it.  I wanted my eggs the regular way with the good taste.  I had to throw away part of breakfast.

 

Also, could hardly eat lunch, really wasn't hungry and felt no craving for anything, just done.

I slept 7 plus hours with only one wakeup even though I had a little indigestion and leg pain.  That Natural Calm plus Glutagenics is really working.  Even the second sleep was great, over three solid hours with no sense of time passing, deep sleep and not much hunger when I got up at 6. It only took 45 days!  

 

No more cheese ever I think.  I have to try some grains soon but dont really want to.  Maybe rice and quinoa first in a few days.  I am getting tired of sweet potatoes, feel like i need another starch, maybe cooked carrots, I can't eat a lot of raw ones, my mouth gets tired of chewing.  I think I remember a carrot soup recipe that was pretty good.  Or some more acorn squash soup, that was good last time but I really don't like plain cooked squash.  

 

Still have some eye pain and it is in the other eye too with some swollen glands.  I hope I make until Thursday when I see the doctor.

I managed to ruin an entire turkey by cooking it to the specifications and not to what I thought was right.  I havent delved into the dark meat but the white meat is too dry and rubbery to eat, oh well, lots of soup which I hope tastes okay.  Hard time going to sleep last night but then slept 7 hours without getting up.  i got frustrated when I tasted th e turkey at 8 last night and ended up eating a whole bowl of cooked veggies, all compliant but I felt out of control for the first time.  I was craving something besides whole 30 foods.  Might have to do a reintro of something to remind myself of why I am doing this. I would love a piece of bread.

If your turkey is too dry, I suggest cutting it into smallish pieces and heating it a bit with some broth.  A slow heat will allow the turkey to absorb the broth.  You can also use it in casseroles and things like that where there is enough heat for it to take up moisture. 

 

ThyPeace, has overcooked meat a few times, to put it mildly.

Made some great roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts today and recovered from my disappointment.  The dark meat is great and I will mostly broth up the white meat as you suggested.  It actually wasn't overcooked I found out, just a really dry turkey.  Feeling extraordinarily compliant today with a little turkey and veggies.  

 

Lots of energy at the gym today and my eye is better.  

 

I got 7 straight hours of sleep last night for no apparent reason.  I went skiing yesterday but that usually doesnt help.  No aches and pains right now and very little RLS. Also lost a pound since last week at the gym, so still going down.  I hope to get below 140 soon.

Wow, three nights in a row with good sleep and not hungry in the morning, no indigestion, no craving or snacking after dinner or during the night It only took 50 days! I had to discover that I really can't eat nuts except a little almond butter.  No prilosec for 12 days after 2 years of use and no hyper acidosis.  Mirapex down to half, hoping for more as I increase my iron rich foods.

 

I have been eating a lot of turkey and a great turkey soup last night.  I can feel the calories burning after dinner with adequate fat.  I had a lot of salad dressing last night and didn't worry about too much olive oil and had the usual sort of hot flash at about 8 pm, but something not unpleasant like a hot flash, just a warm burn. Knowing I have brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes and leftover turkey in the fridge is alway comforting even if I am not eating very many.

went for an overnight to town for shopping and doctors, i had no difficulty staying compliant but had some stomach pain anyway.  I think I was eating too fast because I was busy and not getting the sit-down time after eating to digest.  Plus too much black pepper in the sauted veggies at the restaurant.  Probably not enough fat in the last meals, plus had a lara bar at night after concert in the motel. My wonderful turkey soup is gone, I need to make some more. I spent so much money on food yesterday, probably about 300 dollars mostly of poultry and fish.

Still not great sleep but some times of more that two hours and at least 7 every night.  Had to have a piece of turkey and sweet potato last night at 10 and yes I would have eaten broccoli if I had some.  Tried some rice crackers yesterday and then didn't want to continue with the test although I had no reaction.  I am just pretty happy with what I am eating although I really should do more tests while I am otherwise compliant just so I know.  But my body feels so good, I dont want to mess it up with extra foods.  I have gotten a little low on fat lately and haven't felt the burn from the fat, also not losing much weight so I need to up the avocado, olive, mayo component of the diet.  I brothed up the turkey and it is okay although still a little tough.  I love having lots of packets of turkey in the freezer for quick dinners.  And soup meat and broth there too for quick soups.  Planning some acorn squash soup today.  And I might have to go for some banana pancakes.  I am pretty tired of eggs and although I tried some chicken sausage yesterday for breakfast, I didn't enjoy it and felt a little nauseous from eating meat for breakfast, I am sure it is all in my head.

I had the worst restless leg of many months last night and can't figure it out.  I went to bed fine and then it started in my legs and also in my arms and shoulders. I did everything normally yesterday and ate compliantly.  I had a rice challenge two days ago but couldn't get past a couple rice crackers because I really didn't want to eat rice, ever.  All my exercise was normal, the only thing that was slightly different was that I got some sliced turkey from the organic food store but I checked if it had sugar in it, although I didn't check for carrageenan, but it was organic, I will call them to find out.  I tried to think if I had missed a mirapex dose but I dont think so.  I hope it doesnt happen again or I will have to go back to my former dose pre whole 30.  

 

I am easing into meat at breakfast with apple sausage that I disguised in a frittata and it did taste okay and even enhanced the egg taste.  I put some potato and sweet potato in it too, very tasty!  I don't feel like I am getting skinnier anymore even though I am almost completely compliant.  I have been putting cream in my coffee and not cooking as much for lunch, just eating a little turkey and roasted veggies and some avocado or olives,but that is it.  I lost size so well during the whole 30 but I am just maintaining now.  I am hoping that things start moving again.  MY exercise level has been a little lower with all the bad weather, hard to walk in slush and snain.  And the gym is a little far away for driving with terrible roads but we are going this morning as it has quit for a while.

I did weigh myself at the gym and yes, I am still losing weight.  I really have no problems with the scale, never weighed myself much before so no love-hate, I just consider it one tool to check on how my eating is working along with how my clothes fit and how I feel.  

 

I had two salt tablets with my nighttime supplements and slept much better without extra mirapex.  Trying to stay in bed for 9 hours or more like the book, Lights Out suggests.  I just have to force myself not to look at the intervals that I wake up and keep my cell phone clock somewhere that i can't reach, and convince myself that I can go back to sleep.  For the second night I woke up when the alarm went off, although quite a bit of tossing and turning with stomach pain in the early morning, ate a little potato to calm it down and some papaya enzymes to quiet it which kind of worked.  Although I didn't eat many processed foods before, my sodium level now without any processed food must be that much lower and affecting my legs.  Lots of burping and pain and loose  bowels this morning.  I think I am recovering now, could be brussel sprouts last night at dinner or just stress from subbing yesterday and eating really fast as teachers have to do.  Or could it be that the salt tablets bother me?

 

Going to the gym and going traveling to to a friends house overnight.  I am not sure what to make to take along.  there is no way I can eat what they eat, perhaps I will get some turkey soup made.
