Whole90

Hey Guys,

So , I'm new to the forums but not W30. I've completed 3 W30 and a W60. Though, I'm up for a new challenge. About a month ago I completed my first W60. I had observed changes in my body that I've never even deemed possible, I got to a point where I actually knew what type nutrient I was craving to a degree( I.E Carbs, protein, fat, etc).

So I bought this cool gadget that measures things like body fat % and muscle quality. As a scientist, some sort of data in this regards is of ample value to me for a reference point before and after W90. I've fully laid out a workout plan for the 12 weeks in conjunction with my W90.

I'm super nervous. My whole60 creates complications with eating enough, and now with a W90 I'm even more worried since I'm also a full time grad student.

Is there anyone willing to take on this challenge with me? I'm starting Jan 11(since it's also my first day of classes) Also any tips/foresight on a W90, I'd love to hear them.

Cheers guys and good luck on your W# :P

Cory

Hey Falcon - way to go with the w90 commitment! I'm tempted to join you in the w90. I'm thinking, as you posted, big changes are possible in 30 days but awesome changes should be seen in 90. Give me a day to consider and I'll post back whether or not I'm in with you for the w90.

I'm thinking that I might join you; but I might be a few days ahead on the start date (maybe/maybe not)...I was suppose to start yesterday1/2/2016 ; but my mindset wasn't in the right place. Trying it again today; however, I like your start date 1/11 better. Suffering from achilles tendinitis and allowing multiple stressors to naw at me.....  Lots of irons in the fire right now...

I'll continue to follow your thread and let you know shortly.

I had a successful day 2. I have a slight headache, but I also caught a cold, so not sure if the headache is from the W30 or the cold. I am going back to work tomorrow, so I will be prepping a few meals. I have read the posts and they continue to motivate me. Thanks everyone!

Just keep in mind that a Whole90 is an unofficial thing. Part of the Whole30 program is being able to navigate food and lifestyle choices in your own way, not only by following the rules. That's why the reintro phase is a key element in the process, and where the riding your own bike metaphor comes from.

(this is partly for people just reading this thread, not specifically directed at you @falcon)

Hi Falcon (and whoever else is in).....I'm in! My plan is similar to yours, I come off sabbatical on April 1 and have to go back to work then so I decided to do a whole90 to hopefully get myself back into tip top shape. I've already started as of jan 1 but I've caught a nasty cold so I just missed my first workout day.

I did a whole30 back in June with my wife for support and kind of half-assed it. However I was still able to lose 15lbs without stepping foot in the gym. So while I realize this isn't a diet plan, I want to use this as the springboard to get back to health and get my weight under control. Like yourself, I have a pretty good idea about what my sensitivities are so the biggest challenges for me are going to be what to do after 90 days. I guess i''ll figure it out when the end is near.

So far, I've done pretty well with eating clean and sticking to the program, but I've found that I'm not eating enough to fuel my body with working out. This leaves me hungry so I've done a lot more snacking (approved foods) rather than 3 ginormous meals per day. The pre/post workout meal leaves me satiated but its later in the day that issues occur. I'm hoping that I can work thru this and that its just my body getting adjusted to the new regimen.

I tried to view my new routine through a calories in/out perspective and it just doesn't work. What I did find out is that my macros were off quite a bit but I didn't want to turn this into just another high protein plan so I'm at the point where I'm trying different food combos to try to find the right mix. I've been doing what was recommended in the workout thread...essentially eating a sweet potato and can of tuna after each workout. I'd love for anyone else to chime in with their experiences of what works for them.

So that's all I got for now...also I'm new to the forum, a dad of a young toddler and live in nyc. I'm hoping to be able to share experiences and support for the next 3 months with like minded folks. Good luck to all!

Sometimes people also just need more food. If you're eating your pre and post and 3 big meals and you're still hungry, you may need to add a mini meal or even a fourth meal. Are you eating any fruit with your meals? I wouldn't up fruit portions, but if you're skipping it, you might want to add it in.

Thanks praxis. I do eat fruit, just not as an organized part of my meal. Ive been eating a lot of citrus as I've fallen ill, but also it serves as my sweet treat until I lose the sweet cravings.

I'm hoping to just power thru and get to fat adaption which will presumably level me out.

Hey- I started on 1/4, and I'm planning on doing W90. I've done two successful 30s, but both times it was clear to me that I needed longer than 30 days to change my deeply ingrained dysfunctional relationship with food. I also never stopped craving sugar/sweets.

So while I was overjoyed at the physical results of 30, I am hoping that 90 will really put me in a better position to never go back to the way I have been eating the last few months (so shameful that I won't detail it, but think S.A.D. with bonus added ice cream). I also have put on 17 pounds in the last year, and I'm Shorty McShorterton, so that's even more on me than it sounds like.

So cheers! We can do this, right?

Hi Falcon - I am joining you.  This will be my 3rd whole 30 and have been thinking about a Whole 90 mostly because I want to see how it will effect my relationship with food, and I know I can do 3 months as long as I keep changing up what I'm eating etc.  I want to do this because I want to stop falling back into bad behavior with food, and I think 3 months will help me with this. My goal is to eat this way 90% of the time because I honestly feel best when I do this so why do I then slide back into eating whatever slowly after finishing a Whole 30? I am on Day 10 today feeling good, but still not sleeping correctly.  I will check back on this thread for support etc.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for the accountability of stating this on this forum. Just what I needed.

Currently on day 11 of my 4th whole30. Every one I have completed so far i have felt like a I needed more time on plan to really kick my sweet tooth and snacking habits but once I set my mind on 30 days, I added night time popcorn back after 30 days all 3 times so far...

So I need to pick a new goal and I know I have to define a number of days to keep focused. I've been thinking 90 but I just seems so intimidating! But then again if I don't want to reintroduce bad habits, why not just go for it!?!?! It's to know there are other people out there who seem to think 90, or 100!, is reasonable..

Guess I'm in. 90 days, started on 1/1/16

How's everyone doing so far? I'm finally getting over a nasty cold so its been pretty easy so far to stick to the plan as I haven't gone anywhere. Missed a bunch of workouts so still no resolution on how much or what exactly to eat for workouts so hope to figure it out. I think I'll just up my protein where I can.

Hardest part is being home alone with a cranky 3 year old and all of his unhealthy snacks! Of course if he doesn't drive me to drink first...

I'm in for the 90 day plan! I've been skirting the issue, but as several have said, I've done a Whole30 and ran right back to my bad habits and indulgences, like popcorn! That and I'm totally addicted to Halls Mentholyptus Cherry Cough drops. Weird huh? I probably eat about 15 a day! I'm on Day 3 and haven't had any, but I sure want them! Also I ran right back to my chemical sludge coffee creamer! Ugh!! Dang all those chemicals are sure tasty though. Still, my health is continuing to nose dive and I sure don't wan to end up like my Mom who now has Diabetes, had a quadruple bypass and has Metabolic Syndrome. No thanks! So, count me in! Good to meet you all.

So far so good, but still not sleeping correctly and I'm on Day 12. Normally my sleep would be fine by now, but I'm stressed so probably not helping matters.

I don't think of it as a whole 90.  I think of it as 12 weeks plus 6 days.  :D   Right now I'm almost done with week 2!

Oh, I really like that, Dee55555! I'm gonna adopt that too. So, I'm almost done with week 1. Cool.
Took a nap this morning and was sleeping good until I had a nightmare. It was freaky. Not even about food, however, I think it's probably detox from my sugar dragon and all the bad carbs I consumed over the last several months!

I'm on my first whole30 (then 90) after a life of bad decisions. Day 10 for me but not physically feeling "better". Really liking the food and I'm so glad that I'm making the right decisions for once in my life, but physically just feeling big and yuck. All part of it right?

9/90 here, and cruising pretty much fine.

Biggest battle right now is figuring out correct portion sizes for my mealtimes. I am eating pretty much as much as I can at each meal, but still getting a little stomach growly between meals. But funny, no other part of me is hungry- I'm not lightheaded or otherwise lacking in energy. If my stomach wasn't physically rumbling, I wouldn't identify it as hunger at all.
