reneeruecks
So I have completed a whole 30 in the month of November and I am trying to stick to it most of the time. I just need some new food ideas and recipes. I have tried almost all of the recipes in the book. Every week I buy the SAME meats/. A whole chicken, ground hamburg, chicken thighs cod, and steak tips. What are some amazing recipes or things I should try? My husband really needs something new lol. I'm not a bad cook but I'm not really creative either so it's getting boring. Hannlib
Go and check out Mel joulwan's blog. She's written 2 cookbooks, well fed and well fed 2 which contain mostly w30 compliant recipes. Her blog has a huge number of recipes and food ideas too. She's a great source of w30 food inspiration.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 5, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 5, 2016 Have you checked out Mel Joulwan or Nom Nom Paleo or Stupid Easy Paleo? These are all website of folks that are "friends" of Whole30. Not all their recipes are compliant but I'd venture that at least 98% of them are. graceeatsclean
There are loads of Whole30 blogs out there with tons of recipe ideas. A quick google search turns up some serious gold. Also, if you're on Instagram, check out #Whole30 and/or #Whole30Recipes. There is a solid group of amazing people who connect via IG to log their daily meals (a great source of ideas) and full recipes on occasion. missmunchie
How are you usually preparing your meats? I like to play with lots of herbs and spices when I get bored, or try to mimic other ethnic cuisines. I can make my own curries with coconut milk, grill chicken, peppers, and onions for "fajitas", and the paleo pad thai from Well Fed is awesome. I get bored when I'm trying to be super efficient/economical with my meals and are just cooked meat/veg/blob of fat somewhere, salt and pepper. Maybe check into other methods, like braising, frying in compliant oil, or barbecuing. Or splurge on a pricey steak or fish that you wouldn't normally do for fun. I know food boredom has always been a thing when I Whole30, hope you can get out of your rut!
Domesticlou
Nom Nom Paleo and Stupid Easy Paleo are my favourites (I've been paleo a long time, this is my first go at Whole30). The former is my absolute fave for big flavours and super-clear recipes.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted January 6, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2016 I highly recommend: wholelifeeating.com - SUPER SIMPLE recipes, all Whole30 recipes from our own King of Moderators Tom Denham Well Fed and Well Fed 2 cookbooks - a mix of super simple to slightly more fancy, all amazingly delicious, only 1 or 2 recipes not Whole30 Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans cookbook, and/or her iPad app - not quite as simple but not complicated, 90% or more compliant recipes, crazy delicious
praxisproject
I really love the sauces from Well Fed, you can turn an existing meal into quite a different one, with a little Sunshine Sauce or other tasty sauce
frogtox
I really love the sauces from Well Fed, you can turn an existing meal into quite a different one, with a little Sunshine Sauce or other tasty sauce I totally agree with this. I consider myself a pretty good cook, but the Well Fed cookbook has taught me to use spices and blends of seasonings I've never used before. It's changed the way I cook, regardless of whether I'm on a whole30 or not.

NicoleLouise76
Huge fan of nom nom paleo as well! Also - this particular recipe is a huge winner in my house. praxisproject
If you want any big cookup recipes, one of my favourite kitchen hacks is this one from NomNomPaleo: http://nomnompaleo.com/post/26079656034/julia-childs-classic-roast-chicken - note: replace butter with ghee for Whole30 Cook two chickens at once! DrJane
Agree to all of the above. I just bought Well Fed 2 and it looks great! One of my favourite easy recipes for sweet potato is to cube and boil as much as you want, then mash it with coconut milk as your liquid. Season with chives, and salt and pepper to taste. A simple, tasty side dish, and I reheat the leftovers the next morning and top with half an avocado, two fried eggs, and hot sauce to taste. careergirlwhole30
I'm in the same boat and trying to find recipes that are easy but a nice change of pace. Here are some of my favorites! 1) Whole30 meatloaf (http://www.stayfitmom.com/easy-paleo-homestyle-meatloaf/)- I added grated carrots to this too 2) Whole30 Chili: ground beef, celery, carrots, onion, chili powder, diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, garlic cooked in crock pot and served over potatoes 3) Trader Joes Chile Lime burgers topped with sautéed onions and guacamole wrapped in a lettuce wrap 4) Crockpot pulled pork served with mashed potatoes and green beans (kind of like southern BBQ?) 5) Twice baked sweet potatoes: bake a sweet potato, mash innards with cooked ground beef, chile powder, diced tomatoes, and sautéed onions. Put mixture back in skins and bake at 350 until heated through, serve with a side of veggies 6) Baked chicken topped with bruschetta (you can find compliant versions in the refrigerated section of your grocery store or make your own with tomatoes, basil, garlic, and diced onions) That's my suggestions
pintchow
I really love the sauces from Well Fed, you can turn an existing meal into quite a different one, with a little Sunshine Sauce or other tasty sauce Agreed! Well Fed has really perked up my dishes...It could be the other around too. @ReneeR: If you're tired of cod, why not try another fish like whole trout, squid, prawns etc. I guess you wouldn't want to try braising chicken feet or pork tongue though?! I just made some Moroccan spiced lamb - those spice mixes are great - Berbere in this case - just rub onto lamb cubes, throw in a can of tomatoes, onions and braise at 350F for 1-1.5hours. Chuck some potatoes half way through.
Mrs.Mathias
One of my favorite recipes is so easy it feels like cheating. Preheat oven to 450º. Take chicken thighs (bone in, skin on) tossed in a bowl with olive oil and marinated artichoke hearts. I make 4 chicken thighs - however many you're gong to eat that night. The skin gets lovely and crispy, but it doesn't reheat well, so this is not a good left over dish). Place chicken thighs on baking dish and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Put in oven for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, take dish out and add the artichoke hearts. Return to oven. Continue cooking for another 25-30 minutes, until skin is brown and crispy and artichoke hearts are browning. That's it. Here's the original recipe: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/roast-chicken-artichokes I've never made the sauce, I don't even feel it needs it, it's such a delicious dish. Enjoy!
Mrs.Mathias
Here's another recipe that's delicious: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/braised-chicken-thighs-with-plums Obviously, sub out the butter for olive or coconut oil, and skip the brandy. I usually use skinless, boneless thighs for this recipe.
Karen_Suep
For chicken thighs, I like making either Tikka Masala (I use Against all grains' recipe and omit honey) or burrito bowls (I use Paleo Takeout for that recipe but I've seen others.) if you want a new protein to experiment with, find a recipe for gyros! So good and easy! My favorite way to eat tikka is over roasted veggies (cauliflower, brussel sprouts, broccoli, with salt and sometimes turmeric...) burrito bowl chicken is also good on salads with avocado or guac. You can also find a recipe for compliant fajita/taco seasoning that you can use on pretty much anything and make it delicious! I tend to love Mexican, Indian, and Thai foods so I often look for recipes that are super easy to make. I feel like a lot of recipes for my favorites in Paleo Takeout are W30 or easily modified (obviously the ones with honey/flatbread/etc aren't and I'm not trying to advertise for Russ, I just really love the book)
mandrake
I am currently obsessed with this: Artichokes, grape tomatoes, roasted red pepper, castelvetrano olives, minced garlic sautéed in olive oil. When heated through, crack eggs over top and cover. Cook until eggs are done to your liking. It's salty, sweet, sour, pungent, and so good. If you want to get really fancy, add some prosciutto. SharynF
I have just made a huge pan of ratatouille with loads of olive oil. It's glistening and gloopy now. And I slow cooked a whole chicken Loads of possibilities with those two with different flavourings - chilli, curry, plain, Moroccan etc. Mix your own spice and herb mixes - so much cheaper than the ready mixed and fresher too. Tbone927
Baby back pork ribs with Montreal steak seasoning and/ or (garlic powder, onion powder, paprika) seal pan with foil and bake at 250 for three hours and finish on grill... Delicious with some sweet potato mash... Zucchini spaghetti with marinara sauce...so good, but you will need a spiralizer...

bpaitsel
Didn't read all the posts so hope I'm not duplicating. Chop up some carrots, or use baby carrots, add potatoes and onions if you want - add these veggies to a baking dish. Top with bone in, skin on chicken thighs seasoned as desired. Bake at 375 until thighs are done and veggies are soft. Result is nice roasted veggies and chicken with crispy skin - yum!
Whole30 Certified Coach littleg Posted April 4, 2016 Whole30 Certified Coach Share Posted April 4, 2016 Another website that is fantastic, though not Whole30 but LOTS of ideas http://inspiralized.com/recipes/ I made a avoado, lime juice, cilantro "sauce" for avocado noodles that came out really good based off of one of her recipes. yelpats
I made this often before starting Whole30: chicken thighs with curry paste & coconut milk, diced onion, cauliflower and a few cubed potatoes.
