just finished week 1 on first whole 30

I have to say that finishing an entire week without a single cheat is an NSV that is huge for me! although I am NOT doing whole30 solely for weight I have struggled with being obese my entire life and have almost never made an entire week on any program I've tried. in addition to losing weight I have an entire list of symptoms and diagnoses that I am hoping to decrease or eliminate all together.

this is what I noticed for my first week: I did not experience a single blood sugar low. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and deal with waking and having one or both hands so numb I can barely complete a toileting routine in the morning. and I sleep with wrist braces on. the numbness has decreased greatly or gone completely already upon waking. I have not worn my wrist braces for two nights. I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP every night but my sleep had been getting increasingly worse. my sleeping has improved some this week, especially I am NOT waking up because I am so hot. I have felt a little more energy the last two days and an improvement in my mood. almost everyday I would get these horrible hot flashes only in my face and I would be miserable. My face would turn so red and I would have to sit down from work in front of a fan - this has not happened the entire week! I have not had a single food craving and have had many delicious meals. I am still getting hungry between meal one and meal two - and when I say hungry I do mean that baked fish and steamed broccoli sound utterly wonderful! I have more than 6 hours between breakfast and lunch due to my waking and scheduled work lunch time. I have been having a snack of protein plus fat but I am thinking of adding a vegetable to that so that I do not get hungry again before lunchtime. I have not touched the scale. I put it away after weighing on day one before I started. to me that is quite a list of non scale victories to celebrate.

Amazing, Helen, loved reading this!

(6 hours is a bit of a stretch between meals, yes. Adding a veggie is a good idea as is trying to up your breakfast a bit. You have a fairly active job if I recall so making sure you're getting enough to eat is important!)

HelenLA, this is phenomenal! What great NSVs! The science behind the W30 is unmistakeable and if you just keep doing this one day at a time, focus on succeeding right now, this moment -- I think you'll eventually be able to wave bye to the obesity you say you struggle with as well as other related issues. The ability of this plan to reverse metabolic syndrome and autoimmune/inflammatory conditions doesn't cease to amaze me.

If you want more evidence this diet works -- watch "My Diet is Better than Yours" on ABC, and see how Kurt, the contestant doing the Wild Diet (which is basically Whole30 but a little more lenient on dairy in certain cases), is losing massive amounts of weight and you can see the inflammation going down in his body.

It seems to me that if you stay focused and continue to do good work, you'll have stellar results. Just make sure you share those amazing before & after pics and don't forget about all of us here on this forum when you're famous! :)

Congrats.
