SamL
I had to use salted kerrygold. I got most of the solids off and then strained it through 3-4 layers of cheesecloth which caught some solids. I let it cool and put it in the refrigerator. This morning it has a little white on top. Is it milk solids? I used it and am hoping I didn't mess up already (day 1). Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted January 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 18, 2016 Just scrape the white top off and you're good to go!

Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted January 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 18, 2016 I used a tablespoon this morning...is that ok? Of the white stuff on top? It's kind of hard to say... having not seen it... it could have just cooled slightly different than the rest... or it could have been milk solids... What day are you on? SamL
Day 1 and I don't want to have messed up already! Maybe I'll see if it's salty and be able to tell that way...
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted January 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 18, 2016 Hmm... dairy is an enormous gut disruptor so you really need to be careful about consuming dairy products... even that tiny amount of milk solids (should it have been that) this morning. My recommendation would be to keep going and now you're doing a Whole31 (which in the grand scheme of things is not much of a difference but gives you the full 30 days). SamL
I tasted it and it didn't seem salty, just gritty and it looks like there is some further down my jar too. Hmmm..
SamL
I scraped the top off and the stuff further down the jar is just where it was stuck to the jar...I didn't think to scrape it this morning. Thanks for your help!
