samianne724
Alright all you Whole30ers, what are your plans for Superbowl Sunday? Are you abstaining completely and staying home? Eating beforehand? Preparing Whole30 approved snacks? (Is that even allowed?) I need a plan!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted February 4, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 4, 2016 I'm not a big football person, so I'm probably staying home -- but you absolutely can fix W30 compliant food to serve at a Super Bowl party. If you're hosting, Mel Joulwan has put together a menu and instructions to prepare for the day (a couple of these recipes are not Whole30 compliant -- they're clearly labeled that way, but just be forewarned). If you're just looking for a dish or two to take to a party to make sure there's something you can have, Nom Nom Paleo has some good suggestions. In general, meatballs, wings, bacon wrapped potatoes or sweet potatoes, this broccoli salad, some raw veggies and this baba ganoush or some w30 compliant ranch for dipping -- there are a ton of options that you could make that no one else would even guess were Whole30. For drinks, sparkling water with a splash of lemon or lime, some kombucha, or one of these W30 mocktails, if you want something other than plain water. samianne724
Thanks so much you guys! I'm also wondering how Superbowl Sunday "snacking" fits into the Whole30 meal template? Do you just treat it as dinner?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted February 5, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 5, 2016 Ideally, it would be a meal. The three meals, no snacks is a strong recommendation, not an actual rule, so if you ended up eating some between meals, it's not ideal, but it's not the end of the world.
