Happy19
Hi, for the day 4 of reintroduction for oatmeal...would steel cut oatmeal be suitable?
Happy19
What about day #1 of reintroduction....is peanuts allowed to try? I plan to reintroduce peanut butter on apple slices, but just wondering if plain peanuts aware included as a legume? Thanks.
laura_juggles
I'm not sure I understand your question about peanuts. Peanuts are a legume so if you want to start with legumes, go ahead and have some peanut butter on an apple, some beans in your chili, etc. If you want to have oatmeal for breakfast, make sure that the oats are gluten free. Happy19
Thanks so much for a reply ... To clarify my questions: 1). Are plain peanuts allowed as a legume or just peanut butter? 2). Are steel cut oatmeal gluten free? I make it from scratch not pre-packaged. Just would like to confirm. Thanks!
GFChris
Thanks so much for a reply ... To clarify my questions: 1). Are plain peanuts allowed as a legume or just peanut butter? 2). Steel cut oatmeal should be gluten-free: check what the package labeling says. If so, that would be one appropriate choice on gluten-free grain day. When you reintro, you want to reintroduce the food group in question at all three meals of the day. For example, on legume day, you could have peanuts or peanut butter at meal 1, black beans at meal 2, and hummus at meal 3. On gluten-free grains day, you could have gluten-free oats at meal 1, corn at meal 2 and rice at meal 3.

Happy19
Rice on gluten free day ... is brown rice ok? Or does it have to be white rice only? Also....Can just chic peas be substituted for hummus on legumes day reintro?
jmcbn
Brown rice is fine if that's what you would prefer, and yes, chick peas can be substituted for the hummus.Think about legumes, or non gluten grains that you can see yourself eating going forward and do your trials with those. If you don't ever see yourself eating lima/butter beans for instance there's no real point in using those in your trial. The same would apply for each food group. Many people like to do a separate trial for soy. Happy19
One more question...what about repeating the same food at 2 meals on reintro day....eg. Peanut butter at meal #1; black beans at meal #2; and then peanut butter again at meal#3? Sorry just confirming specifics! I'm anxious to do this right! Happy19
Also...I like the idea to include a separate day for soy? Would that be day#13 of my reintroduction or slotted before or after legumes? Thanks!
