Steph1976
I went food shopping and bought canned diced tomatoes and Puree and also chicken, vegetable and beef stock and I am so mad that they have sugar in the ingredients. I understand that I can make my own but I sometimes dont have time so I bought that for convenience. Can I still have them?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted February 8, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 8, 2016 You can have them when you are not doing a Whole30.
praxisproject
Sugar listed in the ingredients list makes them not compliant. If you're not finding anything without sugar at that store, you may need to shop somewhere else to find something compliant. It's much easier to read the labels in the store, to avoid doing returns. Read labels carefully as some brands wrap the ingredients list around the package in a way that you can miss reading some of them.
GFChris
It's almost impossible to find compliant beef stock in the grocery store. Better off making your own bone broth. It's relatively easy to chop and puree your own tomatoes, and make your own chicken and vegetable stock.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted February 9, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 9, 2016 If you can't find a compliant version, and you aren't up for making your own, skip that recipe and choose a different one. Instead of soup, make a burger and a big salad. Or use a bit of water and coconut aminos in place of the broth if it's a small amount. Aside from the sugar, we want you to get in the habit of cooking for yourself. The "convenience food" industry exists to make a profit and your health is not on their list of concerns. Cooking for yourself over these 30 days will show you the value of putting a little time and effort into your food. It will empower you to make better choices going forward rather than falling back on your convenience food habits. You can do this!
