Approved Supplements

My wife has been told by her doctor that her B12 and Vitamin D are low. I don't want her to stop taking a doctor recommended supplement, but we both want to stay as compliant add possible. We start our first Whole30 next week. Can anyone recommend a supplement brand? We spent an hour in Whole foods today and nothing seemed to work.

Solgar is the B12 I have been using but it contains Mannitol which is one of the prohibited forms of sugar/sweetener listed as not Whole30 compliant. I've seen other statements categorically saying that any such violation, even in a supplement was out... I essentially follow a vegan diet so try to take B12 reasonably regularly. Is there any Whole30 line on whether it is better to take a single higher dose B12 weekly or a lower does B12 supplement daily in terms of frequency of breaking the rules or greater quantity of prohibited substance on fewer occasions? Vegan Society sees a single weekly dose as adequate at high enough levels. Thank you.

Whole30 doesn't have a stance on which way breaking the rules would be better or worse. Many people just don't take their vitamins for the 30 days since the whole30 is so rich in nutrients if done with the rules AND recommendations in mind but that's a decision you'll need to make for yourself.

I am really ok taking my B12 despite the rule violation myself while I look for an adequate alternative. I had considered calling a compounding pharmacy to have some made up for me. I am consulting my doctor.
