eating out

I will be starting my Whole 30 on Monday and I am extremely nervous about when I eat out. I am single and go out on dates often where it is dinner and drinks (minus the drinks, now!)

If I were to order a salad with veggies and hard boiled egg without dressing - ok?

If I were to order a salmon - what questions do I need to ask with this? Plain?

... same with a steak?

... same with chicken?

These are the only four things I would look at ordering and I am already a plain eater, so ordering it without seasoning is okay with me - but do I need to ask about oils its cooked in and ask for only a specific oil?

Thanks!!

Do you have any tapas restaurants near you?  Great dinner date destination (all the tapas places I've seen are cool trendy restaurants that emphasize atmosphere and have good food, of course), and the nature of the dishes are such that you have smaller, deconstructed plates, so it's easy to order things in isolation (salad sans dressing, then some charcuterie, then some olives, etc) without running the risk of appearing weird/picky/off-putting to your date, if that's a worry for you.

I've been scoping out local restaurants in my area for compliant options, and best bets so far have been Latin/Caribbean ceviche place and the tapas place.  A sushi place could also work, as long as you're cool eating nothing but sashimi (I'd be down with that).  Definitely check out the menus beforehand and don't be afraid to call ahead and ask for details about food prep.  You'll probably be able to figure out a white list of dishes or at least identify something that can be made compliant with minimal alteration.

Graduation is upon us & there will be a few dining out evenings. I know we are going to Lucilles BBQ house & my plan was to order a plain chicken breast, with plain steam brocolli & plain baked potato (i will add salt) is this ok? can I add more to make it more tasty?

Call ahead as Karen_Suep said -- you have to double check that there's nothing like butter, soy, or sweeteners in any marinades or seasonings and you'll have to find out what cooking oil, if any, they use.

I would take some ghee or olive oil or something with me to add to the potato, and maybe even a salad dressing or something that you could pour over the chicken and broccoli to make it a little tastier and to get your fats in for the meal.
