Alix B.
Has anyone else used Trader Joe's ghee/clarified butter? I am off dairy completely except ghee, and I bought some instead of my regular Organic Valley blend, and it looks... grainy. It looks like it has protein still left in it. Has anyone tried it with good/bad results?
laurenmccracken
I use the traders kind, not that often because I use coconut oil more frequently, but haven't had issue with it. I haven't reintroduced dairy at all yet, and don't know if I would have a reaction. Thus far, as long as the label says it's ok, then I'm ok too.:-)
berrybird
I was not impressed with the quality of TJ's ghee. It worked fine for cooking even with the granular texture, but I thought the flavor was rather funky. I sub coconut oil for ghee in most recipes. waternsand
I thought it was odd that is was shelf stable. Organic Valley is refrigerated. Then again if the milk solids have been removed it should not need to be refrigerated????? I bought it to cook with.

Ghee, as a rule, is pretty shelf stable, but refrigeration never hurts.
tmhampton1
I buy the Organic Valley at Sprout's and really like it. Only thing I buy at TJ's is the riced cauliflower.
