LaurieLouW
I am starting tomorrow, too! So grateful to have found a resource. I can do this for 30 days and I am really hoping that all the promises of health and well being come with it!
NewbieMom
I'm starting my second Whole 30 tomorrow. I'm excited to feel better, but I'm not as excited to start this time. Since I've let sugar and grains back into my diet, may anxiety has been increasing.
Mamacakes
Starting tomorrow as well! First timer, excited, and bought a weeks worth of yummy produce yesterday. I've been trying to cut out things slowly over the past few weeks, but am a bit nervous about how cutting everything will be!
ElizabethG
Happy Monday everyone! Day 1, here we come! How is everyone enjoying their coffee? I learned during my first Whole30 the importance and spending the extra money on good quality coffee that I like, since I am most likely drinking it black. Does anyone have favorite coffee blends? I am still trying to find what I like best, but am certainly learning I need lighter roasts without the added milk.
Kaelisan
I'm used to cream in my coffee. I've found cashew milk and coconut cream wonderful as an alternative.
Damn Dirty Ape
I am curious about cashew milk. That might have a really nice nutty and silky flavor. Did you get this at Whole Foods?
Kaelisan
You can buy it at most grocery stores. I buy Silk original unsweetened. Check for non-compliant ingredients before purchasing.
Michele West
Happy Monday and Day 1! I'm starting my 2nd round today. I've let a few old habits sneak back in and I'd like a reset. My husband is joining me which means I really need to up my prep game! I ran through Trader Joe's yesterday to pick up some basics, but of course forgot a few things:( Namely coconut milk....a huge life saver to add to coffee. I love it blended up with my immersion blender. It gets frothy and tastes delicious. For those that like iced coffee, Starbucks makes an unsweetened version. I add Silk unsweetened vanilla almond milk and I promise that you won't even miss the cream/sugar. I actually never went back to my old way of making coffee after my last round. It was just too sweet! If anyone is unsure of the program "rules" the forum is a great resource along with the books. Learn to read ALL labels and beware that sugar lurks in foods you would not expect. Good luck to all!
TammyG.
Just started this morning! So far so good. I know it's not even 9:00 a.m. yet but it's a start.
ctgraham
Yahoo! One meal down... Already looking for ideas for my morning coffee. I usually like it quite sweet with a flavored creamer. I've heard coconut milk, coconut oil, and cashew milk. Thank you! Eager to try, and learn more about what I can actually handle (let alone enjoy!) And we're off! Kaelisan
I've used almond milk previously in coffee, but cashew mink is creamier and my preference. You will find what works best for you. I'm on day 22 of my first round. Thanks for the encouragement from those who have paricipated before. I'm a bit down at having to 'break up' with food when I wake up. Nateang, you will form a whole new healthy relationship with food rather than break up with any. There are so many healthy, delicious foods waiting for you to meet them, that feeling deprived is a choice and not a component of the W30. I'm going for a W60! Raevyn_Welsh
My husband and I made April 25th our start date as well. Several family members have done it and have seen tremendous results, we are both looking forward to the challenge! Chicken verde crock pot is on and the rest of the week is prepped! yelpats
Thanks for the encouragement from those who have paricipated before. I'm a bit down at having to 'break up' with food when I wake up. I felt the EXACT SAME way lol. I kept dreaming about it. I didn't do so great getting veggies in but not bad. Meal one: bacon, eggs, potato and a banana. CharDoll
Did everyone make it through 3 meals today??? I feel better already being off sugar again. Sugar really makes me sad, mad, depressed, impatient... all horrible qualities when you have 3 little kids! I already felt 5000x more patient tonight. Kill the sugar dragon! Damn Dirty Ape
seasoned cauliflower rice from Nom Nom Paleo with ground pork and diced roasted sweet potato... Anyone else doing the Whole 30 message service... the inspirational video if you made if through the day really made me smile.
ElizabethG
I made it through today...kitchen is closed for the evening. Successfully made it from breakfast to lunch without a snack and one small snack between lunch and dinner. There are usually 7-8 hours between lunch and dinner for me, so during my first Whole30 I decided a snack was ok if I was hungry. How did everyone else do? Favorite meal of the day? Any new ingredients that you discovered and already love?
Kimber P
Day 1 complete. Had three meals and 1 snack. Feeling good, but I know a long way to go. Had spinach omelet with chicken sausage for breakfast. Lunch: broccoli kale slaw with apples, chicken and homemade mayo. Dinner: chicken, baked sweet potato, and avocado. Tomorrow: zoodles! Finally get to use my spiralizer!
Nateang
It was a good 1st day! I felt very satisfied and not that I was missing anything. Veggie omelet for breakfast,Chai tea with Coconut milk. Wasn't exactly hungry for lunch. Had an almond butter banana, apple, and a Lara bar this afternoon. Meatloaf, sweet potato and peas for supper. Feeling more hopeful. Thankful for this dialog. haileel
Hi everyone! I started today as well. I am transitioning into the Auto Immune Protocol diet and thought this would be a good midway transition accountability tool. I've been gluten free for many years because of celiac but have found my health still isn't great. I cut grains and sugar 3 weeks ago and then cut dairy and caffeine (the AIP diet requires it) this weekend. I'm missing my yogurt and iced coffee with half and half already. Happy to have a group for support . Hailee
SusieA
I had the day off work yesterday due to my daughter being home over the weekend. Back at work today and food shopping for a few extras (W30 compliant, obviously!) on the way home. Walking our very boisterous 4 month old English Springer Spaniel at lunchtime so that should keep me distracted! I think it will help us all to think about the end result. Yes, I know we have only just started but I cannot tell you how quickly these 30 days go, once you are past the first week. My downfall is when we socialise - but it's always in the back of my mind that it's not forever, and seriously you will be so happy with the result. This is my second one and some of the habits that I started on the first one, will stay with me for good. You'll be amazed what you're capable of if you stick with it. Ignore the people who try to tell you that this is a "fad" or a "phase". It isn't. Don't let anyone derail you, as in the end it's your body and not theirs. Stay strong this week....................... Sue xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
OceanRyder
Hi everyone! I started yesterday along with all of you. I've done the Whole 30 a few times and decided to do it again because my mom is doing it. Yay! I hope she sticks with it. I'm excited to do this with all of you. Re: Coffee - I used to drink it with half and half and sugar. I am LOVING blending it with coconut oil. So good!

Glad you're feeling hopeful! So did you skip lunch? A better choice for your snack would have been a late lunch. You should always make sure to have protein and vegetables when you eat. You could have added in a banana or apple with almond butter, but unless you were in a major bind a Larabar, 2 fruits and almond butter was not really following the meal template. You'll be more successful and feel more satisfied if you follow the meal template. Even if it means pushing your lunch time to 1 or 2. Good luck! I still have my delicious sesame chicken salad in the fridge yesterday that I was planning to eat for lunch. But I was gone and not able to eat much from 1-3:30, so it just kinda worked out like that. I think every day is going to look different, but I am enjoying finding again all the delicious good I can have on protein and veggies....I also haven't read the book, i've just been learning off of the website etc.. Any new ingredients that you discovered and already love? Day 1 went well! This is my 2nd full go around and I've done 3 "mini" whole 30's. It does get easier each time. I've managed to keep a lot of the same habits into practice and I hope that it makes things a bit more smooth. I did start to allow nightly wine back in, so I struggled with wanting a glass while making dinner. It's time to stock back up on La Croix! I also had a snack between lunch and dinner. There were 6 hours between meals and I was out running my daughter to dance class. I always keep a RX or Larabar in my purse, just in case! My favorite meal yesterday was a tie between lunch and dinner! I had a huge salad topped with tuna made with homemade mayo for lunch and for some reason it was really good yesterday Dinner was braised chicken thighs, with carrots, potatoes and thyme. So delicious and easy!
