akh851
Hi, I have a severe yeast allergy and only found out a few days before I started the whole30 on the 27th of April. My doctor and nutritionist provided me a guideline of what to avoid which has meant that I have to even avoid things like dates, mushrooms and citric acid. The citric acid and xanthan gum etc is making it very difficult to source the organic ingredients because they seem to have some sort of fermented preservative. Could somebody please help me on this as its making me really worried because it just means i am having yeast steam veg and fish/meat to avoid any type of ced tyeast but its making me miserable! Has anyone else faced this problem?

Karen_Suep
Why are you having to steam veggies? I'm a little confused. I understand avoiding allergens and trigger foods. You can easily avoid mushrooms etc. Citric acid may be a little trickier but you should easily be able to avoid it by making your own whatever. None of the things you listed (dates mushrooms citric acid) are essential to a good w30. ETA: the essentials are found on the meal template (protein, veggies, fat) and that's what makes or break the w30 for most.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted April 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 30, 2016 Also of note is that you are not required to have organic everything. If that's a choice you're making then that's great, but if you're trying to find things that are organic and don't have citric acid etc... because you think it's a rule, just so you know, it's not... you can have non organic on this program... in fact, you can have whatever quality of meat and vegetables that you choose based on your own circumstances, the availability of certain things and your choice. Maybe that will help?
