Summertime
I am on day 35 (5 days into my re-intro ) and I reintroduced gluten-free granola at breakfast this morning. Granola is one of those foods that I really enjoy. I had it with a pear and a lot of almond butter. I'm not sure if this is all in my head, but I just feel off. Not as energized as when I eat eggs or even just vegetables for breakfast. I only had about a quarter cup of granola. But it seems to be weighing me down. Maybe because it's not "clean"? Is this a typical response? I plan on re-introducing quinoa at dinner tonight as well. Thoughts, suggestions?
Moderators LadyM Posted May 13, 2016 Moderators Share Posted May 13, 2016 When I've reintroduced things, I've kept them within the framework of a template meal best I could. So, when I reintroed non-gluten grains, I ate them with protein and fat. It may be that it doesn't work for you. It may also be that granola with fruit and nut butter without protein threw off your blood sugar enough to make you feel off. I'd suggest making sure to eat protein, fat, and veggies tonight with your quinoa and see how that goes. Good luck!
Summertime
Ok, so tonight I made a veggie quinoa skillet with lots of peppers, onions and tomatoes plus shrimp. Everything was sautéed in olive oil. I felt ok eating it, but afterwards I felt bloated. Perhaps that's because it's the end of the day, though I never felt that way on whole30. Is it possible that any type of grain, whether it contains gluten or not, makes me bloated??? I really don't like this feeling ☹️
praxisproject
You can certainly have a reaction to oats or other grains. Wait until you're feeling better before you reintroduce anything else.
