Starting May 23

Hi Everyone! I'm Emily and after having baby #2, I'm having an extremely hard time getting my body to bounce back. I have a petite frame and I feel like every pound, gain or lost, shows on me! I've managed to tone my body and maintain a healthy diet, but that middle section is static and not changing whatsoever. I'm thinking eliminating sugar all together is what I need to see a change. After either being pregnant or breastfeeding for 4 straight years, I finally have my body to myself and can focus on getting it in the best health and composition. Looking forward to starting this journey and hopefully changing my life!

Hi Emily! I'm Letty and will also start on May 23rd... The reason I'm giving the program a go, is that I'm feeling stuck and totally dis-motivated.

And being nearly in my 40s, I really want to feel comfortable and healthy...

I'm one of those many people who have tried everything under the sun to lose weight almost my whole life (me = sugar addict). But in the last couple of years, I've been reading a lot from reliable resources, regarding health/obesity/fitness and somehow I bumped into the program. I have to admit that I've bought the W30 book a good few moths ago, but wasn't ready to start the journey. I have been taking my exercises seriously, but I understand now that food is the most important thing in the process. And realising that, helped me get into the mindset to face what comes next. Like any changes in our own life, it's hard at first but it will get better and that's what I expect from the program. Move forward, be motivated and healthy (and lighter too!).  :)

I'm also starting my Whole 30 on the 23rd.  This will be my second time.  The first time I ended up skipping the reintroduction due to a family event.  I did pretty well for a while, but fell into old habits of emotional eating due to some challenging life circumstances.  Now that I'm through the worst bits, it's time to get everything back under control and I think this will be the best way to do it.  Also, I know I'm having some sensitivity to red wine so that's one of the things I really want to pay attention to in the reintroduction phase.  I suspect there is also some sensitivity to wheat.

Hi mum-bum! It's nice to know that you've done it before and you're being brave to re-start! Life is a box full of surprises and some times we just have to accept, step back and wait for the storm to pass...

Well, it's my first time and I'm not sure how to start, so I've given this week to get my head around the program and also see how can I accommodate family meals with my meal plan... Hope to keep in touch x  ;)

Hi, my name is Holly and I'm also starting May 23 for my first Whole30. I'm really excited to see how the program affects some of my chronic issues. I have endometriosis, migraines, digestive issues, sugar cravings, and huge energy crashes, to name a few. It's nice to virtually meet you all and I'm looking forward to interacting over the next month!

I'm excited to see so many people starting May 23rd. I have been looking at this for the past week and have decided to give it a shot. I am a 36 year old stay at home mother of three and have been struggling with diabetes since 2011. I am a whopping 330 pounds. For so many reasons I need a change.

I am starting on Monday too. I have been on Whole30 since 25th March but just had a week off on holiday. Need to get accountable again as I have a lot of weight to shift and I also feel so much better on the meal templates.

Hi everyone! So here I am (in UK, by the way...) planning my menu and grocery shopping.. I confess I am finding it a little bit overwhelming, but I think I might get a better at some point (or maybe I'm just anxious!)

I am trying to start basic (protein+veggies+fat), and next week, I am planning to try one or two recipes per week, and building on that...

How about you guys?

Any tips you would like to share?  :P

Hi I started today, the 22nd. I now weigh more than I did during both my pregnancies and I'm so ready for this.

Day 1 went well! I'm using My Fitness Pal just because I'm curious. It is the end of the day here (I'm in Egypt) and I'm surprised how few calories I ate. I was only hungry at meal times, and I used to snack constantly. I'd easily eat more than 2000 calories a day. Today I barely ate more than 1000!!

I'm reading It Starts With Food, which is explaining this all to me while it's happening. Since Im giving my body what it actually needs, it doesnt tell me Im hungry. I'm going to be reading during these 30 days to keep me motivated.

I am starting May 23rd too.  I am super nervous that I wont make it the whole 30 days.  I am going to stay focused and remain positive!  Good luck everyone!  :)

Hi Mo77 - I'm super nervous I won't make it either. I can't rid my home of all non "Whole30" items, but I can fill it with tons. My husband is supportive but doesn't have to be on this "diet", and I'm not going to make him give up his white breads and dairy. <3 I really liked their website section which said "This is not hard. Giving up milk in coffee. Is. Not. Hard." losing a family member is hard. Having cancer is hard." That sentiment stuck with me! GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi, I'm staring tomorrow as well. I  have my food for the week ready to go. I am on disability retirement SO I will need to make sure I'm out of the house more often than not. Otherwise I will sit around being tempted by food in the house (which I won't make my  hubby toss). I did Ideal Protein for 5 months and lost 72 pounds...and in four years put it all back on! :) (oops) My cholesterol and blood sugar is not in a good place. I also have Multiple Sclerosis and a healthy lifestyle is the only way to go (as it is for everyone!) :) GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi! I'm Abby and I starting my first w30 tomorrow. I have 2 kid, the youngest of whom is 8 weeks and breastfeeding. I've decided to do the w30 to try and sort out of my digestive health which seems to be a bit of a mess at the moment. I'm nervous but also really excited and determined. I've got my first weeks meal plan written out and I'm really looking forward to it!

Hi all!  Today's the day!  This is my second Whole30.  The first was last August and was completely amazing.  I had so many wonderful changes as a result of completing the challenge.  I still cook many of my Whole30 recipes that have become family favorites.  2016 has included some setbacks that have made it hard for me to be physically active - a small surgery on one leg and then I broke the opposite ankle!  But I'm on the comeback trail and able to walk again (running is a ways off) so this is part of a whole new beginning for me.  I am committing right here, right now, to see this through - - a true Whole30.  Will be happy to have others with me on this journey.  The emails, by the way, are FANTASTIC - - it is so great to get one each day to keep you going and to be able to check in and report that you've finished another day - - that's a highly recommend in my book.  I want to use the Forum more than I did last time.  Cheers to each of you starting this journey today.  Go team!

Lady Kaitlin,  I am starting today too and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes after my daughter was born in 2009 (I'm 42 now).  It's the number one reason I'm here--I want to live long and have great numbers.

It's 4:30 and I am dying for (my afternoon) diet coke.  Instead I'm drinking water and reading through all of your messages on your first days!!  I am really looking forward to feeling great.

Hi everyone!  I'm starting today too!  This is my second time on Whole30.  Did it last summer for the first time.  I find the summer easier because of all the yummy ripe fruit available to eat.  Really helps me get over not eating ice cream and Werther's hard candies.  My weight is actually higher now than it was when I started last year, so my work is cut out for me. I plan on staying on it as close as possible indefinitely . . . It already helped me start a lot of good habits.  Eggs and an orange for breakfast.  Starting out, having sliced avocado with easy-over eggs is so satisfying!  And sautéed vegetables are so delicious with refined coconut oil.

The sugar withdrawal is tough, but it does get easier. You'll eventually not even crave it anymore. Good luck everyone!

Hi! I am starting my first Whole 30 today May 23rd. Going to do this one day at a time. Day 1 went better than expected.  I just finished  a 14 day detox but was using stevia the whole time. I am a sweet taste addict and wasn't sure I could even go one day without it. But, so far so good. This is a huge challenge for me and i'm excited and a little scared to take it on. Love the idea of having a group of people to go to for support and I'm here if anyone needs a cheerleader too.

Hi! I am doing my first Whole 30 (started on May 23rd). I usually eat in a paleo way most of the time, but find I have been "allowing" myself too many treats (the odd milky coffee, refined sugar free treats, wine).

Day 1 was good, and day 2 is going ok .. slight headache this morning, and having a mid arvo hunger slump (I'm in Australia so it's mid arvo of day 2 for me).

Would be interested to hear what all your meals are looking like to inspire me :)

Start Day 3 here!

I'm still shocked that I haven't really been hungry.  I've thought, "I should eat..." but then I realized I wasn't actually hungry so I waiting until I was, which was close to meal time.

First two days were like this:

Breakfast:
Fried a tomato and green pepper with olive oil and then added eggs.
Today I only had one egg and had fruit on the side.

Coffee without sugar or anything.

Lunch:
Fried vegetables (whatever I had)
Added tuna along with the veggies

Fruit

Supper:
Chicken and vegetables, again fried in olive oil.

Snack:
Fruit

I also try to keep my water bottle full of water and ice, sometimes a squeeze of lemon (not every time because the acid can be too much for my stomach)

I don't make decisions based on calories, but I'm using MFP and so far I'm eating under 1200!!  This makes me excited because it means I'll definitely loose weight!  I was eating at least 2000 before and still hungry!  No hunger this time.

I've never been a big veggie eater but I'm finding it very satisfying.
