Starting May 16

Excited to start and nervous! I'm really hoping this will help me work out some emotional stuff I've been going through and not go to food for things. With all the weight I've gained I feel as if I've become negative on how I feel about myself so I'm hoping this will help me turn things around and how I think about myself.

The 16th--here goes...

I can absolutely say that I identify with all that has been posted so far. With the struggle with negativity, the go-to with food, the desire to be healthier.

I'm looking forward to being pain free in my shoulder and knee, to have more energy, better sleep and no more allergies!

Let's do this!

Hi! I am startin on 16 may too! It's my third start, because last month I had my B-day and last week has my husband B-Day - so it was bad timing :( I mean :)

Sorry for my english, isn't very well. I'm from Czech Republic and I am beginner in English :) Thanks :)

I'm also starting tomorrow (May 16) and I so agree about the negativity.  I'm hoping for more energy and a happier frame of mind.  The weight I've gained in the last few years has affected every part of my life and I'm sick of it!!  Good luck to all of you, and to me!

I'm starting on the 16th, too! I went grocery shopping today and have a lot of meals all prepped and ready to be cooked! I'm hoping to lose some of the water weight I've packed on since my miscarriage (and grief eating) in February and hopefully prime my body for another try as soon as I get my medical issue resolved. Mind if I join in?

What's on the menu this week?

I'm also starting my first Whole30 May 16th! I have also recently gone through a few emotional tribulations and as a result, turned to comfort foods and have gained more weight than I would like. I am looking forward to adapting to a healthier food relationship and an overall positive lifestyle change. It would be great to have support during these next 30 days and any suggestions of new recipes or suggestions on how to get through the first few days would be greatly appreciated! Good Luck!!

It went well for me! Prepping yesterday definitely helped, I am going to try to continue to prep my meals ahead of time. Tomorrow is going to consist of mostly left overs, except for Meal 3. I am hoping as the days go on I can continue to think ahead a prep beforehand.

Can't wait to hear how everyone else's day 1 went!

I started today, and I think it went well. I sense I'm going to get sick of eggs and "plain protein" quickly, and will be looking for new, interesting, and creative Whole30 compliant recipes. Looking forward to connecting and sharing with all of you who are starting (and restarting) your Whole 30 journeys this week.

Sorry so late replying. Day 1 went well, but I was seriously tired at the end of the day. Today, Day 2 is also good, although I do have a headache. ( 3:20 pm and I am jonesing for a Diet Coke)

Meeting friends at a restaurant for dinner, and I actually found a Whole 30 compliant entree on the menu-- I'll check with the server to make sure there are no unmentioned items, but it looks like a winner.

I definitely agree with the day 2 headache... I was dragging this morning and would have done just about anything for my sugary coffee that I normally have. But made it through day 2 successfully! Hope everyone else is having a good day 2!

Day 1 I did have the headache but it went away on Day 2.

However I've finding that I'm hungry even after I ate a solid amount of compliant food for dinner, with a mix of protein, veggies and fats. My body is begging for simple carbs! But I'm not discouraged, all those things I'm craving are bad for me.

Hi everyone! It seems like some of you, I am nursing a headache right now...and came onto the forum to see if anyone else started yesrerday ;-). I started yesterday too!! This is my third time doing a W30- but I have let me eating get out of control from stress :-o. And I've gained some hard earned weight loss back :-(. I am incorporating a lot more greens this time into my eating. I have had a headache since yesterday afternoon...I know I'll feel better soon. Hope everyone had a great Day 2 :).

Checking in as I wrap up Day #2. Like many of you, I nursed a low grade headache the first part of the day -- I'm glad I gave up most refined sugars at the beginning of the year, and it wasn't nearly the "hangover" it could have been. I'm actually missing dairy products -- yogurt and cheese -- at the moment. I'm eating exclusively out of my kitchen right now, so I can hold the cravings at bay. I suspect the weekend will be more challenging, we're going to be on the road, likely do dinner out with friends on Saturday. It ought to be interesting -- to see if the weekend lines up with the "kill all the things" phase. :/

I tried Michelle Tam's "Garbage Stir Fry" for dinner tonight... simple, tasty, and quite satisfying. I used ground turkey and I paired it with sliced tomatoes for a little bit of "natural sweet". Leftovers will be lunch tomorrow with a fried egg over the top.

Help! Does anyone know of any compliant coffee creamer?!?

You can use coconut milk or almond or other nut milk, as long as the one you use is compliant. It's typically easiest to find canned coconut milk (check the internation aisle of your grocery store) without a bunch of extra ingredients -- in those, guar gum is okay, but anything ending in sulfite or sulphite is  not. It is possible to find some coconut milk, almond milk, or cashew milk in the refrigerated section sometimes, but be sure you read the labels carefully as those tend to have a longer list of ingredients and a greater chance of having sweeteners as well as other non-compliant ingredients.

You could also try blending your coffee with some coconut oil, but you really have to blend it, either with a frother, an immersion blender, or in your regular blender. If you don't blend it and just stir it in, you end up with an oil slick on top of your coffee.
