How to handle weird meal timing?

Recommended Posts

I skate roller derby and have a bout tomorrow (day 10).  It just dawned on me that I will need to eat well before my normal dinner time (about 2 hours).  I am concerned that I will not be hungry as my lunches have been doing an excellent job of tiding me over. Should I treat this more like a pre WO meal and then have post WO meal and no actual dinner?  I am concerned that I will find myself in a situation where I am starving at 11 pm.

Even more stressful since today I have a late lunch so ended up with a snack of celery and almonds since it is really all I had on hand at work.  And will likely not be hungry for dinner until late evening.

Thanks,

I think in this case, you might be better off to do a mini meal just before your match and then eat dinner when you get home.  Skipping meal 3 in favor of a pre and post workout is not going to go well for you and as you've already predicted, you'll be starving.

Your snack of celery and almonds should not stop you from wanting to eat dinner unless you ate a pound of celery and cups of almonds.... altho I dont' quite understand, did you not eat lunch or you ate lunch late and the late lunch is why you won't be ready for dinner?  We want you going about 4-5 hours between meals so even if you ate around 2pm for lunch, dinner should be around 6/630... unless I'm missing something?

Thanks for the advice for tomorrow!

Lunch today will actually be around 3.  So a 7 or 8 pm dinner.  Now that I say it out loud it doesn't sound so bad.  May be overthinking and being a bit hard on myself for not being more prepared for my meal times to vary from the standard.
