Whoaaaah! rotisserie chicken at Costco..NO!

Recommended Posts

OH my...Day 4... late night at work, thought I'd stop my Costco and pick up one of our old go-to favs, the rotisserie chicken...Seems like a good idea, right...it is ROASTED CHICKEN for crying-out-loud...Not so.. It was a real eye-opener to see what has been added (including carrageenan) to make it so "tasty" and juicy.  I ended up splurging on some to-die-for organic, grass-fed beef and that were quickly pan-fried with thinly sliced Vidalia onions...OH MY!!!

Yep, I've written them before to ask them to change the recipe to make it compliant. Seems like reducing ingredients would be an easy way to make that loss-leader chicken lose slightly less money for them. 'course you can't help but wonder what else is happening with those chickens while they're raised to make them the size of watermelons ;)

Sprouts has one version of rotisserie chicken that's compliant, and Whole Foods should too (but as always, check the ingredient list) ...

Glad you were able to turn things around at Costco for a yummy and relatively quick dinner.

They are probably adding it to help gel the other additives like modified food starch, sugar, lecithins, flavorings, and gums to the skin and meat.

Wouldn't want any of them to fall off the chicken now would we?  ;)

A quick google search of the ingredients label says " no preservatives, MSG, gluten, artificial flavors or colors". LOL, but everything else they added is OK...  :P

Poor chicken. And poor us for being subjected to this 'food'.

Your beef sounds so much better, nice find!
