Lynne Sarao
Just wondering if miso and/or miso soup is permitted? A few recipes I found online look like the only ingredients are miso, green onions, seaweed and tofu. Thoughts?
Susan W
Miso and Tofu are both not allowed because they are made from Soy and Soy is a big no no.
Kara Yarber
I'm sorry but slw600 is correct ... miso is definitely out during Whole30, along with anything else containing/made from soy. Tofu is a super-processed frankenfood, so I'd recommend everyone avoid tofu anyways. Some paleo/primal people say that soy sauce and miso are "paleo" foods because they're fermented, but that's a fine line to walk and a decision to make for yourself outside the Whole30. Just my opinion
Lynne Sarao
Phew! Glad I didn't eat it then. I didn't realize miso was made from soy. I thought miso was ... well just miso! Thanks so much for the info!

Thanks so much for the info! LOL..that reminds me of when I was in Texas visiting a friend who was marrying a rancher. There was a big celebration and Mary made chicken fried venison. Halfway through dinner, it occurred to me that I didn't know what a "venison" looked like...I wish I had kept that thought to myself that evening.
