Terri822
Anyone have good luck taking collagen for gut repair? I have the Great Lakes brand to stir into coffee & tea but haven't really used it yet...
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 30, 2016 I consume 2-4 tablespoons of the Great Lakes collagen every day. My gut was in good shape to start with, but I like how much better I sleep when I am consuming collagen regularly. My wife started at the same time I did and has kept it up. She is not a "health-oriented" person, so it means she notices benefits to keep going. I made and drank bone broth before, but collagen is so convenient and easy that I get a lot more of what I seem to need than I did before.
Whole30 Certified Coach littleg Posted July 30, 2016 Whole30 Certified Coach Share Posted July 30, 2016 How do you take it Tom? For a while I was making my own gummies - 1 c juice with ~4 tbsp of Great Lakes gelatin yielding 2-3 "servings" - but got tired of making it 3-4 times a week
Chachers04
Great Lakes make a green canister that is hydrolyzed (not sure of correct spelling) that dissolves in liquid. I put it in my coffee.
Whole30 Certified Coach littleg Posted July 31, 2016 Whole30 Certified Coach Share Posted July 31, 2016 Can you taste it when you use the hydrolyzed in carrier liquids? Coffee, smoothie, etc? I only have the one that actually gels. I've been thinking of getting some of the peptides.
ExAstrisScientia
I put the Great Lakes green canister stuff into my coffee every morning and you can't taste it at all! I've also put it in tea, and before Whole 30, into smoothies. It will dissolve in hot and cold liquids alike.
MeadowLily
Normally, I wouldn't bother with anything in a can. But I'm going to check it out. Keeping the bone broth going for 48 hours is time consuming in the summertime. I don't like to leave the house with a burner going. You've sold me.
