Tessemae's Lemon Garlic :(

After seeing Tessemae's at Whole Foods for quite some time I finally broke down and bought my first, pretty, wax-sealed bottle.  It tasted like watery oil.  I taste no lemon at all, maybe a hint of garlic.

Did I get an off bottle?  Everyone raves about this brand.  Or is raving about Tessemae's just the paleo-W30-cult thing to do?

Lemon Garlic is not my favorite of theirs. I like their ranch, even though it's not creamy like a traditional ranch dressing, I like the flavor of it. Like merryheart5, I ended up using the lemon garlic as a marinade for some chicken, added some lemon juice/lemon zest, artichokes, and capers, and made a lemony artichoke chicken that I served over either spaghetti squash or zoodles, I can't remember which. That worked well. They have another lemon one that tasted more lemony to me and that was better, but still not worth it to me.

Well, on the bright side I emailed the company and they said they'd send me a new bottle... I emailed them on a Sat night and had the response Sunday AM... now THAT is customer service :)

Have you tried the new creamy ranch? It's much better and still whole30 approved

I haven't seen it at my grocery store yet, I keep looking. I actually like the original version, so I'm not too worried about finding it, but I'll probably try the new one at some point.

Did you shake the bottle really well before you used it? This is one of my favorites! I've noticed though that sometimes if I don't vigorously shake the bottle the taste can be a little bland. Or sometimes the top part is less tasty than the bottom half. But that is to be expected with natural products that don't contain emulsifiers and other junk.

Their Balsamic Vinaigrette is also pretty underwhelming. We actually did one of the email recipes that calls for Tessemae's (Fried Cabbage with Egg and Lemon Garlic) before realizing that we could buy Tessemae's and, honestly, if you approximate their recipe, you can make something just as good.

It's the only one I've tried, and I really like it! The first time I used it I was underwhelmed, but I didn't shake the bottle well enough. Normally, I don't really like dressings much at all. A vinaigrette is one type I can tolerate, but I do love this lemon garlic. Maybe because it is milder? I'll definitely buy it again.
