Bforesta
Just curious, can salt be added to homemade ghee before it solidifies?

Bforesta
Thanks for responding. My daughter will be glad to hear this because she loves butter but was not fond of the ghee.
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted January 1, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 1, 2017 You can even add other spices or herbs to the ghee as you make it. One of the Well Fed cookbooks has a recipe that's good, but I can't find it online anywhere, This site has some flavor combinations that might be good too. And of course, if she still doesn't like the ghee, you can just use other fat sources instead -- coconut oil, olive oil, lard or duck fat (Epic brand makes both of these, and I've found it at my usual grocery store) -- different kinds of oils are good for different uses, both because of their flavor and because some do better at higher temperatures, but there are plenty of options.
