Jsouth21
I am confused about how Coconut Aminos is approved? I saw on a Whole30 PDF that Coconut Secret Coconut Aminos specifically is Whole30 approved, however, it lists coconut sap as a main ingredient, which I gather from the forums is NOT Whole30 approved. Would someone please shed light on this?
jmcbn
The sap is fermented to make the aminos which removes any sugars (a bit like kombucha) - which makes it okay for Whole30 purposes.

RachelSC
Is it ok even if it says it uses coconut nectar?
laura_juggles
If it's fermented, yes. If it isn't, no.
RachelSC
Well that's a bummer! I think I used a noncompliant one because you have to actually go to the website to see if it's fermented on this particular brand.
