MelindaE
I'm making an Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) House of 1776 meatloaf that calls for Panko breadcrumbs and whole milk. I was planning on using Coconut flour and coconut milk. Would Coconut Flakes be better than flour?
ArtFossil
I never use breadcrumbs in meatloaf. Just an egg for a binder. And chopped onions if you like.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted February 15, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2017 Yikes, don't use the coconut flour... coconut flour has been defatted which means that it is extremely absorbant... If you do need something for binding (which I don't use usually but some people do) almond flour is better...
Bellmaestra
I've been making a meatloaf with ground turkey, a package of chopped spinach (thawed and squeezed dry), and the other usual ingredients (egg and herbs and a little tomato paste), and it comes out very moist! I also saute the chopped onion before adding to the mixture because I don't like that raw onion taste. Stephanie
