VictorR.
At my local grocery store I couldn't find a spiral cut ham for Easter without sugar. Does anyone know if Wegmans or Whole Foods or another place might have spiral cut ham without sugar? thank you
ArtFossil
I've never seen compliant ham although you may have a local farmer or butcher who could provide this. It may be an opportunity to rethink the Easter menu.
MeadowLily
http://boarshead.com/products/sugar-free Here's some sugar free products you might like. Scroll through.. gluten, msg, dairy free. Many are sugar free. You can always make a turkey. We do have fresh, sugar free, non-injected turkeys for Easter, too. We call it the Big Chick. Carol
Spiral cut hams require expensive machinery to cut, therefore they typically aren't seen outside of the mass-production environment. You probably still have time to purchase a fresh ham and roast it yourself. This way you aren't at the mercy of whatever the commercial kitchens choose to add as a cure.....which could include sugar, soy, wheat, or any of the forbidden additives such as MSG. Look for a rump, shank, or center cut. They are all portions of ham legs. Coconut aminos would not only be good substitute for the soy sauce in Paula Deen's recipe, I actually think they would be a better choice than the soy sauce.http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/fresh-ham-recipe/
