Silver beet/Swiss Chard

Hi all!

Can anyone tell me, do you eat the stalks of swiss chard/silver beet?  I'm seeking to boast my calcium intake and there was no Kale in the shop.  Thank you! :)

You can eat them, but sometimes the can be tough and need a longer cook time than the leaves will. If you're sauteeing them, you might throw the stems in and let them cook until they're starting to get tender before you put the leaves in. You can also save parts like that to use in soups or in making broth instead.
