A fresh start on July 31st

I decided to start on July 31 because it is a Monday and I always do better with beginnings. Tried this back in January , but didn't make it far. Since then, I had a specialist tell me to try Paleo. I followed it strictly for 1 1/2 months (May and June) and felt a lot better. I want to go one step further. I really need to figure out what foods are causing a lot of my issues, and from everything I have read, this seems to be a logical plan for me. I got off track on a family vacation, but back onto Paleo at the moment. There are a few things I need to get rid of,  (red wine ;) )but it is similar. Hoping that fact will help me? LOL. Anyone out there starting around the same time who would like some support? I could use some too. :)

Hi! I'm also starting on the 31st! I completed my first one in Feb but since then have been off track. I didn't want to get sick in Europe and knew I wanted to try every food and drink there lol I am ready to do this again and make clean eating a lifestyle. A good support system really helps. Let's do this!

I will be starting again on July 31.  I was so busy watching for added sugars in things that I completely missed the added sulfites.  I put away my McCormick Lemon Pepper seasoning, my Tony's and my RealLemon Lemon juice concentrate because of the added sugar.  The new lemon and lime juice concentrates I bought didn't have sugar or sugar alcohol, but they did have sodium metabisulfate.  And I used it for every dressing and marinade I made for my first 11 days.  I believe I had too much to just let it slide as a learning curve.

Plus there were some meals that I don't think I had any added fat.  It doesn't take much of it, but you do need it.

I'm going to make my meal plan tonight, grocery shop tomorrow and meal prep Sunday. What's on everyone's menu?

That's pretty much how I do.  Gonna try to make some batch cooked soups and stuff I can freeze for later.

Having an assortment of chopped or diced veggies in the fridge all week really helped to throw last minute meals together when I didn't have time to cook what I'd planned for that day. (Life Happens)

I'm going to make sausage today. I have my zoodles spiralized for the week. I will probably have a lot of tuna and spinach salads. I have a lot of ahi tuna in my freezer. I found this recipe that I'm going to try.

I've decided to start on the 31st, too! This will be my first Whole30, and I'm excited to see what I can achieve. I've been in planning mode for a couple of weeks now, but with being on vacation and having my wedding tasting (yum!) to attend, I figured I'd put off starting until tomorrow. Good luck to everyone! Can't wait to hear about what delicious meals you all have in the works for week one :D

Good morning all!  Welcome to Day 1 of our current round of Whole30.  I've got my weight and measurements  logged and the scales put away.  Some veggies are diced/sliced/chopped, and some chicken baked and ready to add to meals as needed.  Didn't get anything done with the sauces and dressings and soups, but there's always tonight.

Hope everyone had a good start.

Hello Ashley, the first thing I learned is to keep it simple.  1) Take meals you already like to make, and make them compliant.  2) Sauces and dressings are easy to make and they are what counts as your fat, not the oil or ghee the meal was cooked in.

When's the wedding?

Thanks, pearlgirl! The wedding's at the end of January, and I've started working with a trainer about a month ago to help me get in the best shape I possibly can be for the big day :) I'm at the gym two to three times a week, but I've been struggling with making progress, especially with my upper body. I figured Whole30 would be a great way to help fuel my workouts, and also help me sort out some pesky issues like skin irritations and fatigue.

That's all great advice! I just bought an instantpot on Prime day, and made a big batch of nom nom paleo's Kahlua pig to help get me through the week. I'm having it for lunch this week as lettuce wraps with mango salsa. I am a big sauce fan, so if there are any recipes you love, I'd be glad for any you'd like to share here!

Yay! Day 1! I'm making homemade sausage today! I made chicken fried cauliflower rice for a few days. I'm not as prepared or as pumped as my first W30 I did in February this year. I really need to do this and hoping to excite myself throughout the day!

Last time I wasn't on a budget but this time I am. I think that is the part that isn't exciting me lol

I forgot to weigh this morning but I will now. I also need to do my measurements and before pic. I had great results last time scale and non-scale.

Good luck to us all and I know we can do it!!

Good point - I should do my weigh in and measurements as well! Being on a budget is definitely tough, especially when you're trying to seek out high quality ingredients. I unpacked all my groceries for the week and found myself thinking "hmm...this doesn't look like a whole lot!" I would love to hear about what goes into your chicken fried cauliflower rice - I love Asian food most of all, so that's definitely what I think I'll struggle with this month. I'm making this recipe I got from Sunbasket once this week, and I absolutely loved it: https://www.sunbasket.com/recipe/gingery-turkey-meatballs-in-coconut-milk-broth

@pseudoscientist I just sautéed chicken thighs in a skillet with sesame seed oil. I added onion and garlic. In a separate pan, I scrambled some eggs. I premademy cauliflower rice in the food processor last weekend and froze it. Once the chicken was finished, I added broccoli, fresh ginger, carrots, spinach, zoodles, red peppers and the cauliflower rice into the skillet. I added the scrabbled eggs chopped up. I added coconut aminos at the end and let it simmer. I just added whatever veggies i needed to use up before they went bad, it was delicious!

I tend to use a lemon oil dressing on a lot of stuff.  Salads, veggies, fish, shrimp, chicken.....

Oh and don't forget about the mayo in their cookbook.  I I haven't tried it yet (I'm not a fan of mayo) but I will make it this week.  I can probably eat it mixed into a tuna or chicken or egg salad.

I also started today!  This will be my first time, and my sister is doing it with me...  Looking froward to living a healthier and happier life, I think this will be a good starting point.  I think my biggest hurdle will be no more trips to Starbucks, no creamer:(   Good luck everyone!!!  Nice to have others starting today as well!
