    Here's To Success

The picadillo was delicious. I fried up some cubed potatoes in olive oil as the base. I will definitely be making that again. I am feeling better - a good energy level yesterday, though a slight headache in the background. Still a little stiff and pretty significant tightness and pain after yesterday afternoon's walk. But this morning was much better - the dog and I walked about 1.5 miles and for the first time in ages I did not have tightening in my low back or hamstrings, no pain in my knees or hips. I kept waiting for things to appear, and noticing every little twinge. I was ge

  2. Point well taken-food as an enjoyable respite, not the main source of joy. The pandemic does make this so much more challenging. I enjoy my daily walks and look forward to weekend hikes with the dog, but the solitariness of it all presents it's own challenges.

  3. We managed ok last time after the initial panic buying subsided. I hope the same will apply this time although of course we have Brexit to contend with too, so fresh produce may be limited a bit. It’s not exactly growing season here in the uk, it’s very cold. My go-to canned staples are mackerel in olive oil, I eat a can most days (they are just fish, oil, and salt). I freeze a lot of meals so I have things in the freezer but I’m really hoping people don’t panic but this time as it was horrible having to queue and empty shelves last time. tonight I’m making a Moroccan tagine with lamb

  4. Good morning! I’m starting today! This will be my 4th time completing the Whole30 with several failed attempts in between. I am prepped and ready to go! Meal 1: eggs, spinach, roasted potatoes Meal 2: Chicken Cacciatore with Zoodles from the Whole30 Slowcooker cookbook Meal 3: Asian Pot Roast with Shiirakes and Snow Peas from the Slowcooker Cookbook I bought a gallon water jug to make sure I’m hydrated. My workout will be a 45min Peloton ride before work and a 45 min walk after work to get fresh air. I live in Clearwater, FL so I have 0 excuses to get outside daily. I’m als

  5. Having trouble sleeping too. Not helping that I’m up 4-5 times a night! But...losing water weight is a good thing! Hopefully I’ll sleep better tonight.

  6. Also, I changed my mind for dinner and made this Italian chicken bake/casserole - it was so tasty!

  7. omg that looks so good! I love shrimp! I am 38 and this is my 4th whole30. I started Jan 1 too, and my favorite thing about the whole30 is that the tiger blood kicks in for me almost immediately (in the first 2-3 days) which is such a huge help as I am a busy full-time mom to 4 kids (ages 1-9) with one on the way due this spring. I do need to focus on more balanced meals and less snacking, as I do get lazy with the template especially between breakfast and dinner. How is everyone feeling?

  8. Tired of salad for lunch and had cauliflower rice on my mind.... this is cauliflower rice medley, also has carrots and broccoli and I topped it with shrimp and tahini sauce.

  9. Go with what the bottle says. Stores and other websites can copy and paste random information from other places or just throw in information from other products if someone doesn't feel like researching what that particular product actually lists. Always go with what the label on the product in your hand says.

    Day 4!!

Starting day 4 today! I have noticed that I am not as hungry, and have enjoyed the freedom of eating my meals with real food. One question.... I still feel bloated. How long does it take for that feeling to go away? I had a snack of walnuts and almonds with an apple yesterday, maybe I had too many nuts??? Anyway, thanks in advance for having me here. Looking forward to being a part of the community.

  11. Headache went away after day 4. Now I’m struggling with the bloat. I feel like an actual boat that needs to float away. I’m concerned it’s all the eggs. But don’t really know. I’ve been trying to find an eggfree whole 30 Mayo. It’s probably my body getting used to all the full fat stuff. I don’t have my gallbladder anymore so I wonder if I’m doing the right thing w all this fat. But I’m committed to find out, just curious.

  12. @christine19 unfortunately we did get full national lockdown again. I am so determined not to let this slide though, more so than ever I need to be super healthy! the cravings I find do subside quite quickly. Make sure you are eating enough fat, and also add some salt to your food as it can help a lot if you are getting carb-flu/detox headaches.

    Day 4!!

Thank you for your response! I'm hanging in and starting day 5 now! I've eaten like this in the past before but never as strict.. the no grains and no dairy has been challenging but I keep telling myself that even one bite will send me back to day 1. I appreciate your support, looking forward to seeing and feeling results. So many people have been so successful at getting healthy with this, I can too!!!

  14. One of the things that becomes clear each time I go through a Whole 30.... I need food to not be the highlight of my day. (I'm suddenly reminded of one hilarious friend's description of her overweight cat as "highly food motivated" — the creature lived for the whirring of the can opener.) Is it okay for food to be an enjoyable part of my day? Sure. Is it okay for me to take delight in food? Sure. Is it okay for food to be the bedrock of delight and enjoyment in my day? That's probably not a great idea. I think part of the growth I need to engage in this year is re-ordering m

  15. Hi all - I started my Whole30 today, Jan 4! I completed one a few years ago and felt great afterward, so looking forward to that. Like many others here, 2020 got to me for a host of reasons and have been very off track and not feeling so hot. First, I'm going to focus on the food portion of my health with W30 and once I'm feeling a bit better will add some more activity. (Currently I walk my dog 1-2x a day for 20-30min a pop), so am not totally sedentary, but it's definitely not enough. I've stocked up and found a great site (https://realsimplegood.com/rsg-meal-plans/rsg-whole30-meal-plans) wi

  16. Love an avocado! I hated them before doing this last time but I grew to love them. I work in a school admin office and today was horrible. We have only been back 1 day and it looks like tonight we will go back into lockdown here. So I came home and opened the fridge and for a moment I was tempted by the Easy goodies but NO! ok so it’s the same I had at lunch but I got salad, chicken/grapes/celery/onion slaw, 2 HB eggs and some nuts + pint of water. Thank goodness for my weekend Prep! I ran 6km today at lunch and will do yoga later after Boris Johnson gives his speech

  18. Happy Monday! Here’s my breakfast, I guess I should call it green eggs and more green (avocado). Eggs scrambled with fresh mushrooms, onion and leftover roasted broccoli from Saturday’s dinner. And a perfect avocado....who else gets excited when there is nothing to cut out or scrape off on the inside? It’s going to be a great day....here’s to a great week!

  19. Hey Libberita, That was my start date too. And my challenge buddy's. I am also not getting coaching but got the texts and those help. How are you feeling with it now? I'm rocking a headache lol

  20. Here’s my dinner tonight: salmon, and stir fried veg: asparagus, onion, Chestnuts, sugarsnaps, chilli, spinach, squeezed with lime, garlic, ginger and ‘soy free soy’ sauce (UK product, it is, I think, similar to coconut aminos - it’s very expensive from health food shops!) and mayo!

  21. Welcome! I'm on W30 #4 and it's so much easier when you know what to expect. Yes - you can do this!! @CathB batch cooking will be your friend when you return to work! After our first W30, we never returned to processed foods so we're now well accustomed to all the food prep and cooking but it is a lot to get used to when you first start. Good luck! I've never had a W30 coach but like the W30 Day by Day book that I bought for my first one. Focussing on getting through one day at a time sounds cliche but really helps me. And, eat the fat! You'll be thankful you did!

  22. Universally forums have fallen out of favour. It's too bad because they have been a mainstay for me over the years for crowdsourced knowledge. I really miss the active W30 forum. I'm going to post here everyday because I dislike FB pages and don't find that as helpful - I hope a few people are doing likewise so we have a tiny community.

  23. I thought the same thing about lack of people posting. I started today and I do enjoy the camaraderie. What day are you on? Hopefully you chose to dive right in anyways and I hope you are doing well.
