Tom - this really hit me what you said about developing and committing to a personal meal plan.  can you share a little more what your process looked like for reintroduction and getting to a place where you knew your plan and haven't deviated back to the need for another whole 30?  did it take you a lot of trial and error as you were testing, or did you just go whole 30 and never look back?

Hang in there guys!!  I'm on day 8 and it's DRAMATIC how much better i feel than a week ago.  And probably the biggest part is the mental/emotional gain.  I was feeling so low I didn't even want to look in the mirror.  And today I'm feeling confident, not bloated, and happy.  I know it's a roller coaster of ups and downs.  And I was worried about doing this during the holidays.  But I am soooooo glad to be sticking with it.  It's actually making my holiday season BETTER than indulging and feeling bad about myself.  Get lots of rest, be kind to yourself, dive in to the support in the forum, subscribe to the daily emails, learn some new recipes, and believe me, it DOES get easier!!!
Thanks all for sharing your recipes.  Curious if you've discovered any new craving distraction techniques that have worked well for you?  I drink tea, take a 10 min power nap, surf the internet, but am also looking for new tricks to starve off that sugar dragon when it hits!

so glad we are all doing this together!  half way through day three and who knew i would actually like my coffee black??!  sauces are something i learned on the first go around can dramatically liven up any meal.  here's one of my favs from a friend - great on ground meat or chicken or on roasted veggies:
    Ingredients: Wasabi Ginger Pesto Sauce
    - 1 bunch parsley, stemmed
    - 1 cup basil, loosely packed
    - 4 garlic cloves
    - 1/2 cup pistachio nuts (or some other kind of nuts)
    - 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
    - 1 lemon, juiced
    - 1 TBS wasabi (Use 2 TBS if you like it hot)
    - 1/3 cup fresh ginger, peeled & sliced
    - 1/2 cup olive oil

    Instructions
    1. Place parsley, basil, garlic, and nuts into a food processor. Turn on medium and add the vinegar, lemon, wasabi and ginger.
    2. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil to allow it to emulsify.
    3. Season with Salt and Pepper.

love these sauce ideas - thanks for sharing!  i'm on day three.  was feeling good this am, but starting to drag this afternoon and have a bit of a headache.  am committed to doing this...but the beginning is hard because i get nervous about my resolve with so much further to go.  but i also know it gets easier with time.  glad to have all of these posts to read for support!

i just looked back at my notes from day four and here's the advice i was given.  i got a lot out of subscribing to their daily emails - so i recommend that resource for support too:
relax, drink lots of water, take it easy at the gym, and keep making good food choices
know that this is NORMAL and will pass:   http://whole30.com/2013/08/revised-timeline/
everything we suspect you’re experiencing right now is normal, expected, and a healthy part of your transition.
-the five stages of food grief: 1) notice yourself pulling away socially.  this is normal.  2) anger  3) beware of slipping down the bargaining phase.  keep reading labels, knowing what's in your food, and staying on track.  4) it's normal to be sad.  it can be sad, depressing, lonely.  but this, too, will pass and normalcy returns. - Once you’re done feeling sorry for yourself, you begin the phase of actually adjusting to your new lifestyle.  You learn how to become more efficient with tools like the crockpot and meal plans. And, you begin to make the connection between your ability to control what you eat and your ability to control how you feel.  This is where you feel fully comfortable in your new skin. http://whole30.com/2012/01/the-five-stages-of-food-grief/ learn something new like reading the forum, pintrist recipes, the blog - to ward off boredom/cravings
    take a cat nap

welcome all - so glad to hear from you!  i'm heading to the grocery today to do my prep.  and i got fed up enough last night that i decided to start my commitment this am.  had my coffee black...and didn't even mind that!  scrambled eggs with peppers, tomatoes and avocado were tasty.  looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.  and i agree - the NSV are even more important than the scale (even though the scale was NOT my friend this am...good thing we are parting ways for 30 days!).   like several of you, i'm also reading food freedom - about half way through.  one that that really helped me my last go around was signing up for the daily emails - lots of good tips and advice along the journey - it costs a few bucks, but well worth it in my opinion.

There's a great thread going for those who started 11/21 (enough excuses).  I'm learning from their journey, but thought it would also be good to look for others starting around the same time I am so that we can walk through this together.  I'm a 40-something active female who loves to cook.  When I discovered the Whole30 this summer I dove right in and completed a toned down version - no sugar, alcohol or carbs.  I felt GREAT!  But have been slipping back into bad habits and feeling out of control.  So I'm ready to do a full fledged 30 with no cheats.  I didn't take advantage of the Forum on the first go around, but as I've been slipping lately I realize that support is going to be a very important part of this next round.  If you're interested in chatting and sharing, let's do this!

Thanks CCLaymon for inviting me to join your conversation!  I'm a newbie to the Forum and still trying to figure out the best way to take advantage of this resource.  I've been trying to start a reset for the last month and keep getting a few days or a week in and get weak and fall off the wagon.  Figured it's time to recognize I can't do this on my own and I need some likeminded support!  How do you all make the most of this resource?  Do you just check in on this thread daily?  Do you have a notification set up?  Do you always ask your questions here, or do you post them in multiple places to get more advice?  Would love to hear how it's working best for you all, as I'm gearing up to start on Monday, 11/28!
