Reintro went well...left out legumes and gluten contains grains because of known intolerances. Reintroduced sugar in a very small piece of chocolate and it was way too sweet! I don’t crave it anymore! One area I had hoped to improve on was my Hashimotos thyroid but that didn’t happen. My latest test showed my numbers fell into hyper range for the umpteenth time in 4 years. Oh well, working the meds. During this strange and scary time in our world with this virus keeping us homebound, I have managed to keep up my good W30 habits. I know that eating well will help with the stress of all of this. Take care people! I wish you all well!

I did it! I completed the Whole30 with no slip ups! Today is Day 35 and I’ve reintroduced gluten free grains and dairy only in the form of plain Greek yogurt. I had many NSVs such as less headaches and better sleep! A bonus is that I did lose 12 lbs and I really wasn’t overweight to start with. I had a big sugar addiction and an unexpected thing I noticed when I had my plain Greek yogurt was it did not need the half teaspoon of honey I used to add!! And I used to use half a packet of Stevia in the Raw in my coffee, but since discovering Nutpods creamer, I don’t think I will need that either! Anyone struggling with the challenge, please try to see it through! You can do it and you will be better for it!!

So I just finished my first Whole30 and I'm blown away with the results!!
I will say it was a real struggle at first and there were times I was about to quit but I stayed the course even during several crisis, both worldly and personal.  Wow am I glad I did as I took stock this morning of my results!
BP is back to normal  GERD is gone, no more meds required I now know what "Tiger Blood" is, energy level has increased tremendously My sleeping has greatly improved, weekly average per Fitbit is now well into the 80's even with all the anxiety we are facing in the world today. My mood has also greatly improved, again, even with the worldly crisis we are all facing I reached my weight goal and then some All in all I have learned the importance of proper food choices and eating habits as the benefits speak for themselves.

Hey everyone!  My name is Julie, I'm 41, and I had such great results on my first Whole30 in January, that I want to do it again in March!  I am taking February to slowly reintroduce foods to see how I react to them.  I was so excited to see the affect these foods had on my system, but the results have been anticlimactic.  I just don't feel very good, clean, or healthy when I eat dairy, gluten, sugar, or alcohol.  Not sure about legumes, peanuts, or other grains yet.  I hated the rules at first, and don't consider my self to be a big "rules girl."  But I came to love and cherish them and I want to go back to Whole30 land!  Dairy makes me break out and cheese is not the magical food I remember - it's just... fine.  Sugar gives me an insane rush followed by a low hard crash.  Alcohol is not as fun as it used to be, and I don't want to waste the whole next day feeling bad/unproductive.  Not one food or drink tasted as good as I remembered or expected it to taste!  I'm slowly transitioning to a place in my life where I want to, need to, and am using food to fuel my body, not feed the sugar dragon or any of my other demons.  Also, I look and feel better than I have in six years, since before I had my last baby.  I want to keep this light, healthy, free, autonomous feeling going!  Hope some of you can join me in March and help me stay accountable!!! XOXO

Hi Julie. I'm Brie and 37 and haven't done Whole 30 before, but my husband and I are going to start on March 1st also. I've done the Candida diet before almost 10 years ago. It was torture for the month, but I got used to it after a couple weeks. I had the same reaction that you did after re-introducing things back in to my diet. Life changed and I never stuck to it again, or tried it again. I feel more equipped to tackle this lifestyle because I've done what I did in the past. My struggle is going to be my husband! It was his idea to begin working on our diets and eating habits, but he likes to be the devil on my shoulder which is why I am joining a group to be more accountable and get some extra will power here. Anyway, we're celebrating our 5 year anniversary early so we can have the March 1 start date. We've been prepping this week and trying to meal plan and do some research and scout out things in our grocery stores.

Hi. My name is Michele, and I'm starting March 1 also! I'm 53 and eat generally healthily, but never pass up sweets. I don't really need to worry about my weight (though I've gained a few pounds since I went from teaching 12 minutes from home to a desk job w/a 40 minute commute). However, I'm far too young to feel as tired and achy and bloated as I have been. I'm sick of feeling yucky, so I really look forward to trying the Whole30 plan to see if I can get beyond the inflammation and find out what's causing it. I'm nervous! I don't know how I'm going to fit all the meal prep into my busy life, but I will do my best. Thankful for all the resources here! All the best to you all!

Oh nice!! A bubblebath! What a great way to celebrate passing your exam. (Congratulations! ) I feel the same way about the same foods, including avocados now. I've been trying different recipes too & started following the official Whole30 recipes on Instagram. Also following "everylastbite" on Instagram. Last night made her Chicken Pot Pie Soup & my husband & I were BLOWN AWAY!! And tonight the leftovers were even better! Can't wait to try more of her recipes. I highly recommend....

I have tried many diets in my life and failed and felt terrible about myself for it. Something about this challenge spoke to me. Like you, I have surprised myself with my discipline! I’m on Day 23 now and yes only 7 more to go! While I’m looking at reintroduction tips, I’m fairly confident that I won’t be going back to my old habits. Will I ever eat sugar? Yes but not all day every day. Will I have pizza? Gluten free but yes I will. You got this!

Oh Day 3 detox headaches are awful.  Anytime I do a detox I would make an infusion of stinging nettles or take magnesium supplement.  I find the stinging nettles more effective but either one help reduce the effects of the headache immensely.  Just know it is toxins dumping from your body, it will be over in a few days and you will feel so much better and not to mention a brighter focus.

I so appreciate the positive feedback & encouragement! Congrats @JCar for making it to day 21! You can pretty much see the finish line from where you are. Today is day 16 for me & I'm still in shock at my "stick-to-itiveness"! This is so out of character for me but I'm realizing that I'm stronger than I thought and that too often I cut myself short. This is a good boost to my self esteem. Anyway, I'm totally comitted to seeing this all the way thru to the end...

So I spent the last two days in a Training Class for work.  I can honestly say that since getting past the first week of Whole30 I can concentrate better and my memory has improved.  I passed my certification exam!  I wanted to celebrate with Champagne...instead I had a bubble bath.
I'm tired of the same food -> Eggs, meat, veggies, sweet potatoes.  My husband made the menu for the next five days with new recipes he found off pinterest..Hamburger Soup anyone?  I'll let you know how it goes.

    Day Three...
Holy freight train in my head! The Whole30 Timeline is no joke. Woke up feeling like I went to a bachelor party in Vegas. I actually opened my eyes to look around and see if I really WAS in Vegas and if there were strewn tequilla bottles lying around with strangers asleep on the sofa. Phew, I was ok.
Glad I read the timeline and know what this is. I made breakfast and am out the door though. It's doable. I got this.

    Day Two Thoughts
I survived last night without an evening cocktail. I can't even remember the last time I came home in the evening and did not sit down to a drink. Typing here now at 6:30PM on Day Two, normal cocktail time, and instead drinking a hot green tea.
Last night It was, hmm, how do I say, "slightly uncomfortable." Not difficult. Nor tempting. Just a tad odd feeling. I had my dinner (it was meh...need to practice more!) and after went to see 1917 to distract myself. Came back at 10PM and was perfectly fine by then. So the "craving" was primarily time constrained to when I normally would have a drink...somewhere in the 6PM-9PM range. This tells me that for the "routine" drinker it is about habit, time, and place more than anything else. I was expecting a bit more of a physical pang - but it was not at all there.
Tonight, sitting here now, it's even easier...the formed mental habit is dissipating already. I am sure there will be new challenges like when I start to travel again. But I feel surprisingly at peace and will keep reminding myself of the rewards my mind/body will thank me for later.
And, made breakfast yet again! I am a kitchen machine now. Ok, not quite, but trying! Chipotle Whole30 bowl for lunch (Chopts Whole30 salad is much better imho). Went to the gym and worked out longer than usual as I did not have the lure of the evening cocktail waiting for me at home. You might say that's a NSV!
Now to make my salmon, veggies, and sweet potato....tutorials at the ready!

Practicing mindfulness during my whole 30 served me well afterwards.  I am more aware of my actions around food and I’m learning to ask myself questions to determine if I really do want that “m&m” or snack cake always on my moms table.  These things I did without thinking before, without considering if I even really wanted it.  So much of what I ate was mindless habit.  The opportunity to practice mindfulness is one of the many great benefits of the whole 30

Ah yes, the mindless habit of grabbing a salty or sweet snack! I know it too well! I’m also using mindfulness and doing something experts suggest to do before reaching for food, drink water! You could really be thirsty, not hungry. And it kind of snaps you out of thinking about the food! I’m on Day 21 now and there’s no stopping me! Keep up the good work! We are worth it!!!

@JCar I was thinking the same thing. I'm not a TOTAL junk food junkie but I do have a serious addiction to sugar. I had wondered why I was still thinking about sugar and junk food on day 11. I wasn't necessarily craving, but noticing default behaviors automatically coming to mind. For example, I was making trail mix for my husband while I was hungry. I instinctively reached for the M&M's when it suddenly occurred to me that I cannot have M&M's. It's these types of automated behavior I want to break. At first I was bummed that I was still having these thoughts and tendencies. I started to worry that this meant I would probably revert to old behaviors/habits after my reintroductions. But then I remembered it takes about 17 days to form a new habit. That gave me added hope!!! I may actually conquer  (or at least tame...) my sugar dragon after all!

i think it takes a good two weeks for the body to get used to the program. If someone was eating a lot of the foods we eliminate, it might take longer. I don’t know if the word detox is correct, but it stands to reason your blood and gut have to adapt to less inflammatory and more beneficial foods. I’m not saying any of you were junk food junkies, but even going from gluten free grains and hidden additives and sugars to super clean is probably a shock to our systems!

I can honestly say I was sluggish until around day 13. There are a lot of phases that make people give up, so stick with it! I’ve battled my thyroid for almost 4 years now with constant rollercoaster labs and many med tweaks and never felt well. That and breaking up with my sugar dragon are what drove me to Whole30! Keep up the good work!

    Hi @JCar!
I'm very encouraged by your post. I'm at the end of day 11 & feeling pretty sluggish & foggy today. I too have Hashimotos & had just removed gluten prior to beginning my W30. I'm hoping for/looking forward to being less sluggish & having more mental clarity. So thank you for your input & cheering us on!

@beachbaby you are doing great already at day 11!  These are some of the hardest days, the storm just before the calm.  Your resolve may really get tested, but it really is worth seeing it all the way through.
