  1. I should say, I'm THINKING of having this be my start date. I've had this in my calendar as my future start date for the past 6 months...but then this pandemic hit and now I'm concerned it will be difficult to get my shopping done at Whole Foods- since it's not near my apartment. I live in NYC and I'm not taking public transportation right now for the obvious reasons. My local grocery store doesn't carry a lot of the Whole30 compliant brands / items I use with many of my recipes (this will be my 4th Whole30, I do one every 6 months). Plus, I don't trust the meat at my local grocery store as much as I trust the meat sold at Whole Foods. However, when I went to Whole Foods a week or 2 after our shelter at home orders, there was NO MEAT at Whole Foods...which makes me think even more that this isn't exactly the best time to be strict with my food purchases. It kind of makes me feel like I should just stock up on whatever I can get and maybe hold off on Whole30 until things have gone a bit more back to normal... Anyone else out there currently doing Whole30 and have any input? Have you had a hard time getting some necessary items for certain recipes you were hoping to make? Thanks :)

Monday April 20, 2020 start date- anyone else?

rachelmaria33, welcome! Glad to have you here April 26 start date must mean you are completing Day 9 now, right? How's it going for you? I started on 4/20 so I'm wrapping up Day 15 and yes- still plugging along! I'm with you on the cutting out gluten. Well, I don't always do it but given an option- I usually select gluten-free items. I noticed how much stomach pain I had during my very first whole30 when I tried to reintro grains with gluten. I was very surprised! Very hard for me to be dairy-free when I'm not doing whole30 because I love ALLLLL the cheeses, hehe!

Studentoflife81, welcome! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply...I had in my head that no one else was going to be joining this forum. Glad I checked! How is it going for you??? I guess it's Day 16, yes? Woohoo- go you!!!

Monday April 20, 2020 start date- anyone else?

Hi Rindaloo- I can get delivery from Whole Foods through Amazon Prime Now, however- most of their time slots have been completely full whenever I've checked. My husband lucked out once and was able to order a bunch of broccoli, tuna steaks, and some compliant whole30 turkey bacon. So that was a win! But I've mostly just trekked on the bus to Whole Foods. I've only had to go 3 times so far and I got enough stuff this Saturday to hopefully hold me for 2 weeks before I needs to go there again. As long as I make a trip to my local grocery store before then, I should be set for this and next week at least

Congrats Revelate! You must be done with your initial 30 days! Day 34, right? How are you feeling? Are you reintroducing items now?

Revelate- how's your whole30 going? Are you on Day 20 now? Amazing! Sorry it looks me a while to respond! I didn't start on 4/12, but I DID start today! I ended up going to a different Whole Foods location than my previous trip a month ago on Saturday (braved mass transit and took a bus, stayed far away from the only 3 other people on it) and waited outside in a line in the rain for maybe about 10 minutes total. This Whole Foods had literally everything I needed from my list EXCEPT 1 item...which I can make from scratch, I just usually avoid doing that since it's time consuming- but I have all the time in the world now So I prepped my breakfasts and lunches for the week yesterday and I'll make my dinners for the week tonight. Sooo thrilled I was able to find everything I needed and was able to start on time like I had planned. Now I just hope I'm consistently able to find everything I need every week for the next 6 weeks I guess no one else decided to start today if a lot of people started last week, so I may be the only one posting in my own forum, hah!
  7. Starting my 3rd Whole30 on Monday 9/9/19 after I get back from my vacay. I try to do a full whole30 every 6 months after I finish my last whole30 and it's about that time! Plus I got a bit chunky after completing a recent marathon 3 months ago (I always tend to gain weight after marathons due to running less miles...yet I still eat all the things...ay yi yi!) Time to clean up my diet and feel good again. Gimme a shout if you would like to join! :)

Monday 9/9/19 State Date- anyone else?

Woohoo! Today is Day 40! AKA my last day of Whole30 and Reintro! It's been a wild ride, y'all! I'm going to do another weigh-in tomorrow morning, take pics & measurements. Hoping I lost a few more pounds...I've also upped my workouts this week. I'll def be back again in 6 months as usual, it feels too good to not revisit a few times a year. Plus I always seem to fall off the wagon at some point As of now, my plan is to definitely eat 1-2 whole30 meals a day moving forward beyond my whole30. And 1 meal per day I'll relax and allow myself whatever I want. Feeling good, my hair feels strong and shiny, skin has cleared up a bit, obviously lost some weight and my clothes are fitting so much better. Have less anxiety, just feeling amazing in general. YAY! I love it when I feel this way every 6 months, haha! I'll pop back on tomorrow to update on final stats. How's everyone doing? Anyone else still doing reintro? Continuing longer? Hope everyone feels good

Melinaka- you have quinoa yet? Was it glorious? My legume reintro yesterday was nothing exciting...peanut butter with apple was fine- but honestly, I just prefer almond butter more. And hummus was fine, but it wasn't a thrilling experience eating it- like...I wasn't excited for it. And the chickpea pasta was kinda gross so I barely ate any. And I felt incredibly tired after the pasta...like, my eyes were drooping at 8:30pm BUT, I did weigh-in yesterday morning. Lost 12.6 lbs...3lbs less than I normally lose during my first 30 days (in my 2 previous resets, lost exactly 15.6 both times). So while I should be happy, I'm a little disappointed. Meh. I definitely have more to lose this time around so I'm bummed I lost less. Oh well- still 8 more days to go for me. Next reintro will be gluten-free grains on Saturday. Gonna have oatmeal with breakfast, corn tortilla chips with lunch, and brown rice pasta with dinner. Ok, I'm beat...heading to bed.

That's awesome Mirasaur! Good job! I'm trying to figure out how to navigate eating post whole30. I definitely want to eat all the bad things I've cut out but I need to be more mindful of quantity and how often. I think I'll try to stick to whole30 meals twice a day and maybe relax on one- letting myself have the things I've cut out but know I won't want to be without forever.

Melinaka- you win! I think today was actually the first day that I WASN'T thinking about off-plan food... that I can't wait to eat again Strangely- had no cravings, didn't feel like I needed a snack after work / before dinner. Maybe I finally got where I needed to be on the last day, ha! I'm doing legume reintro tomorrow...having peanut butter on apple with breakfast, hummus with lunch, and chickpea pasta with dinner. What about you???

Day 30 Day 30 Day 30! Who's stoked the last day has finally arrived / ready to start reintro tomorrow?! And I can't help but admit...I'm so ready to jump on that scale tomorrow to see what's come off (if anything!)

Yay Melinaka! Go girl! Shakshuka is usually yummy, haha- it's crushed tomatoes, eggs, harissa sauce, garlic, onion, red peppers, some seasoning. For some reason it really upset my stomach this time around- had a horrible upper abdominal acidic feeling. Maybe tomatoes aren't sitting well with me anymore. Anywho- I had my last serving of shakshuka today so I just grilled up 2 burgers to take to work for lunch tomorrow and Friday. Probably will just put them over spinach with some nuts for fat and dressing. Thats pretty much my go-to veggie. I should probably incorporate something else but...I don't feel like testing out a new veggie recipe at this point. I like sticking to what I know and like. Your meals may be simple but they sound great! And at this point, I like my stuff to be fast and easy so I'm not cooking while I'm hungry (worst!) Melinaka, are you doing reintro? I know you mentioned quinoa is what you miss most...I miss pizza Day 25 tomorrow...here we go!

Monday 9/9/19 State Date- anyone else?

Day 21 coming to an end! Who's still going strong? I decided to make Shakshuka for lunches this week (well, at least 3 lunches since that's the amount of servings I made) and probably repeat my coconut / almond flour chicken cutlets with spinach / pear / almond / dijon apple cider vinaigrette salad for dinner starting tomorrow (since I looooove it so much). Still have another serving of my salmon cakes and butternut squash soup for dinner tonight but...I'm not super hungry. May not eat anything and just have that tomorrow night. I remember getting tired of Shakshuka during my last whole30 though. So I'll probably figure something else out mid-week for the remainder...burgers perhaps? I also changed up my shakshuka recipe a bit this time around, I decided to add some cut up sausage links to it...since I kept coming across shakshuka recipes including sausage. I'm excited to try it, maybe I won't get bored of it this time! Give a shout if you are still whole30-ing it up!

Wow- a 2ND Whole30 immediately after? Like...basically a whole60!? Sheesh girl, that's willpower right there! My husband has also been commenting that I look like I'm losing weight. Can see it in my face, when he hugs me, etc. I feel like my pooch gut has gone down a bit, for sure. But... I feel like in previous whole30s, I felt a bit smaller than I do right now. Guess we shall see what the scale says on day 31. I ended up losing 19lbs during my first whole30, gained a good 15 of those back before I did my second whole30. Lost 18lbs during 2nd whole30, and gained ALLLLL of those back and then some prior to starting this one. So...I have more to lose now than I did before my first whole30. What I REALLY need to do is figure out a healthy balance post whole30 so I don't gain a crap ton of weight back after I finish.

Monday 9/9/19 State Date- anyone else?

Wrapping up Day 15...halfway point! I made a vile meal for my lunches this week. Super disappointed...I wanted to try something new and the Chicken Hash looked good but it tasted terrible today when I ate it for lunch. I came home and threw out the other 4 servings Rather than scrounge up another recipe to make, I'm just going to eat red pepper chicken sausage in a spinach salad with walnuts and lemon garlic tessemae's dressing for lunches for the rest of the week. Dinner is salmon cakes and butternut squash soup. Breakfast is my same old same old...hard boiled eggs with sausage and spinach / raspberries / almonds / balsamic vinaigrette and coffee with nutpods. Anyone going to do the Reintro after the 30 days are up? I did reintro during my first 2 whole30s. Not sure if I feel like doing it this time around. I noticed reactions to certain items when I reintro'd the first time- but second time, I noticed nothing new. So...I feel like I'll have the same reactions this time - so why bother going an additional 15 days, right? Plus I'm supposed to go apple picking on Day 41...and I don't want to wait another 5 days before I make a fresh apple pie from my pickings (is that so bad that I'm already thinking about that?! ) Maybe I'll just do 10 days of reintro and knock out one of the things I would normally reintro (like gluten-free alcohol- which I already know ALWAYS upsets my stomach so no need to reintro that, right?) and just not do full 2 days whole30 after my 4th reintro item...bringing me to 40 days total. I could reintro legumes on day 31, whole30 day 32 & 33, gluten-free grains on day 34, whole30 day 35 & 36, dairy on Day 37, whole30 on 38 & 39, grains with gluten on day 40...and then no whole30 recovery days after cuz I'm gonna eat apple pie on day 41, haha! Aaaaand this is why I gain weight when I'm done with these things *facepalm* Will I ever learn?!

Yes! I totally have that clicked on! Weird that I still don't get notified...*shrug*. Finishing up Day 11! I really want pizza I haven't caved and eaten it, I just want it...haha! My meals for this week have been bfast: hard boiled egg, either turkey bacon or pork sausage links & spinach / almond / raspberry salad with balsamic vinaigrette and also my coffee with nutpods, lunch: beef and sweet potato chili with crumbled bacon to add some fat (I keep flip flopping with this meal...some days I'm loving it and other days I'm like, "ugh...I would rather starve than eat chili today!") And dinner has been almond/coconut floured chicken cutlets with spinach / toasted almonds / pears / and an apple cider vinegar, olive oil, dijon mustard combo type of dressing that I make. I've upped my snack game...which I should not be proud of, but I still feel hungry when I get home from work / before I want to have my actual dinner. I bought some Chomps jerkys. I've only had one, wasn't a huge fan. I also bought some Spindrift seltzers which...I feel like is cheating even though they are whole30 compliant. Still, feels like an extra treat and I should just have water. Other than that, I sometimes have a second cup of coffee with nutpods, or half an apple with almond butter, or a hot dog (or 2 ). Tomorrow is my last stash of chili so I'm going to move on to a new lunch recipe come Saturday...I'm thinking Melissa's Chicken Hash or some smoked turkey slices with chipotle lime avocado mayo with red peppers in a collared green wrap. Can't decide which one I'm feeling more...probs the turkey slices- so easy to make! I keep finding myself getting annoyed when friends ask me to hang out. Usually I just want to be a hermit when I do my whole30...go do my workout, work, grocery, cook, eat, done! Friends want to go out to eat and I always feel bad being like, "Well, I can eat food with you again on...like, October 20th. Until then, I'm happy to meet you for a coffee or a walk or a workout class and...yeah, that's it." Ha! I feel like a pain in the ass but...I just don't want to be the annoying customer at a restaurant with my very specific requests. Plus when I make my food, I KNOW it's compliant and I don't have to worry about what could have potentially gotten in it while at a restaurant. Anyone else consistently decline invites while doing this?

Monday 9/9/19 State Date- anyone else?

Yay! I've been neglecting this post because I wasn't being notified of responses- very cool to come back and see so many people have joined with the same start date! How's everyone's Day 5 going? I cooked (in bulk) on Sunday so all my meals this week are the same breakfasts / lunches / dinners. I found myself constantly in the kitchen during my first whole30 and I decided for whole30 #2 I would try to cook 7 days worth of meals in just 1 day and eat the same thing for the week...I knew it might get boring but, at least I felt like I had more of a life, haha! So that's what I'm doing for my 3rd whole30 this time as well. My meals this week were / are: Breakfast: hard boiled egg (sometimes 2 if I'm hungrier), 2 slices of turkey bacon or 3 sausage links (whole30 compliant brands from Applegate Farms), and a bowl of spinach, a few raspberries, sliced almonds and a tablespoon of Tessemae's balsamic vinaigrette (also whole30 compliant brand) and a cup of coffee with my pumpkin spice nutpods creamer (another whole30 compliant brand) Lunch: Autumn Hash from the Whole30 Cookbook- so yummy...but now that it's Friday and I had it for the past 5 days, I'm over it, haha! Consists of pork meatballs, spinach, sweet onion, apple, almonds, sweet potatoes, scallions, and some salt, pepper, cinnamon, and paprika seasoning. It's one of my favs so I'm sad that I'm bored with it right now...hopefully I can throw it back in the mix in a few weeks. Dinner: Bacon Wrapped Chicken with Grilled Pineapple (recipe in Whole30 Cookbook) and garlic mashed potatoes (I'm being more chill with the veggies at dinner this week since I'm having spinach with breakfast and lunch and I am not the biggest fan of veggies...unless they are spinach or peppers, heh). Whenever I needed a snack, I would have half an apple with 2 tablespoons of almond butter or I'd have a whole30 hot dog or I'd have a 2nd cup of coffee with nutpods. Looking back, I think I may have had too much fruit considering there was a little fruit with each meal- however, most meals I'd say I had way less than a serving of fruit with each. But something I should be aware of with my next meals. I need to branch out and add more recipes to the mix- I have about 7 that I love and keep in rotation. Any suggestions? Side note: I absolutely hate cauliflower rice...but I also don't care for rice anyway- so I'm not looking for a replacement. Thinking my meals next week will be wweet potato chili for lunch and chicken cutlets with bitter greens for dinner (both in whole30 cookbook). Oh and I always eat the same breakfast (see above) even when I'm not doing whole30- guess I never get bored with it? Woohoo- so happy we are all in this together!

Monday 9/9/19 State Date- anyone else?

Bumping this to the top of the thread in case anyone else wants to join for a Monday 9/9 start date! :)
  20. I know it's probably ok- but had to ask... My last reset- I ate yogurt with breakfast, cottage cheese with lunch, and regular cheese slice at dinner...I remember enjoying NONE of the items. This time around I bought the same things and I'm not looking forward to it. I don't normally eat yogurt or cottage cheese but I felt like I needed to switch up the reintro items last time so I forced myself to eat 3 dif things. This time around, I kind of want to just have a cheese slice with eat meal. I think that would be ok, right? It's still dairy after all...just the same dairy 3 times. I just think of all 3 items I have- the cheese slices are what I will want to eat the most. Seeing as I don't eat yogurt or cottage cheese when I'm not doing whole30 anyway. Will this be ok with testing out dairy? Thanks!

January 2 Start Date! Anyone else?

How's everyone feeling during reintro? Not sure if anyone is still on this thread now that the initial 30 days are over. Day 39 coming to an end here- and I can't believe this time next week, I will be completely finished with my whole30 reset & reintro! Crazy! My main concern is pigging out on all the things I've "missed". I noticed this time around that I've been seeing PIZZA in the light at the end of the tunnel more often than I did during my last reset I'll just need to really evaluate options before I sit down to a meal and figure out what is "worth it". Easier said than done when you keep dreaming about sandwiches...mmm, bread! I made sure to weigh myself and take measurements the morning of 2/1 (Day 31)- I lost 15.6 lbs , 2.5 inches from my bust, 2 inches from underbust, 4 inches from waist, and 2 inches from hips. Planning on checking stats again once I'm completely finished the morning of 2/16. Day 40 tomorrow with dairy reintro...looking forward to cheese. But I remember during my last dairy reintro, I was totally grossed out by all the items I reintroduced (yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese). Everything tasted disgusting...so I'm wondering if that's going to be a repeat this time around. Welp, 6-ish days left! Home stretch! Woohoo!
  22. This will be my second reset, did my first 6 months ago and felt amazing afterwards! I kept the weight off (lost 20 lbs!) and was eating pretty well for a good 3 months post whole30...then a weekend trip to Boston totally threw me off and the scale has been trickling higher and higher and I’ve been feeling crummier and crummier ever since. Not to mention the holiday goodies that have been super tempting. Need a reset to get myself back on track. Cant wait to feel good again. Anyone else starting Jan 2???

January 2 Start Date! Anyone else?

Woohoo! Can't believe we are already finishing Day 30! Where did the time go??? Planning on checking that pesky scale & measurements in the AM to see what changes happened...if any! I'm planning on continuing with reintro for 15 days- tomorrow (Day 31) will be gluten-free alcohol, 34 with legumes, 37 with gluten-free grains, 40 with dairy, 43 with grains with gluten. 2 weeks left!!!
  24. Finishing up Day 25 and can't believe I'm only 5 days away from starting reintro! I've decided I'm going to do Gluten-free Alcohol on Day 1, Legumes on Day 4, Gluten-Free Grains on Day 7, Dairy on Day 10, and Grains with Gluten on Day 13. I'm trying to decide what the best gluten-free alcohol would be for me to have. I think I should probably stick with something I typically order whenever I *do* actually drink...which is rare, but I have a feeling I'll have a reaction- so I want to test it out. I normally go for cider beers whenever I go to a bar (or a margarita). I just so happen to have a few ciders in my fridge and figured I'll have one of those, but do you think that's a bad idea and it'll trigger my sugar dragon? I've actually not craved sweets or really anything while doing the whole30- been full and not finding myself to be hungry outside of my 3 meals. So maybe it's ok? I have 2 different brands: Angry Orchard ingredients: Hard Cider, Natural Flavors, Carbon Dioxide, Malic Acid and Sulfites (I'm guessing this is fine since it's a reintro day?) to preserve freshness, naturally gluten-free OR McKenzie's ingredients: Hard Apple cider, less than 1% of natural flavors, spices, caramel color (ok for reintro day, right?), sulfites and sorbate to protect flavor, lightly carbonated, naturally gluten-free Think one is better to test out than the other? Or should I go for a different gluten-free alcoholic beverage altogether? I just don't want to test something and have a reaction and think- "wait, was it the sugar? or was it the alcohol?" Well, I guess there isn't actual sugar added to the Angry Orchard one...thoughts? Thanks!
