Hello all!! First round of Whole 30 10/14

I will be starting on Oct 15! I made it to Day 17 last November/Dec and then fell off so am determined to make it the whole 30 this time. Going to stock up on some approved foods & get my meal plan in place this weekend. I am the head chef of our family of five so I will be looking for some recipes that satisfy my insanely picky eaters. Aimee

@nomorecrucnchcravings Thanks for standing up for the right thing. Goon on 'ya. Totally jealous of your travels. I am amazed at how much you work so glad you will be getting what looks like is a fabulous vacation. I have started to ruminate about Christmas as well. I am in charge of b'fast & lunch for the family so I think I may make the traditional Christmas casserole with cheese & bread & then another one for me with veggies & compliant sausage. For Christmas Eve, my mom is cooking & she knows the program so I feel pretty good about what will be served there. Missing cheese & tortilla chips. I have also been reflecting on how I feed my children & am dismayed. I make them sandwiches for lunch or they take Ramen. There is always a piece of fruit but I am sure they toss it. For breakfast, we do smoothies & then they eat cereal or sometimes I cook eggs & a hash brown. It's just all gross crud that won't go in my body. After 15 days of this, I am pretty convinced that grains are not coming back in my life (or at least very little). And not to mention the sugar fiends they are. Ugh B'fast - Leftover chili Lunch: salad with chicken, onions & caulifolower Dinner: Leftover chicken& veggies from last night or chili Cheers!

Thanks @ShannonM816 (KC by any chance?). Most of the meals I listed are leftover (chicken had beets & artichokes); chili has mushrooms & potatoes. Very good info. Appreciate your help. Aimee

@Sieb Good on you for noticing about the blueberries but man - they are just blueberries: good for you in a million ways. I feel the same way about frozen grapes - they taste like ice cream to me. Roasting veggies is cooking!! Come on! Had a really great day yesterday - on point. B'fast: Leftover chili with a pear Lunch: salad Dinner: Roasted chicken breasts with carrots & potatoes - it's so delicious & my whole family loves it. I have all the tools & food to make this a successful week. No parties; no lunch dates. The only thing I have social going on is not until Sunday's Chiefs game.

I didn't know it was limited to 2 fruits a day. I have been eating more than that. I'm not sure I want to give it up. Small confession: I quit smoking the same day a I started Whole 30 (been a long time non-smoker & went on vacation in March and started again - dumb). So I eat apples in the car as a smoking replacement. Hmmmm. Bfast: Sweet potato & egg over easy lunch: grapes & roasted chicken thighs dinner: crock pot chili. Different than the recipe I used earlier. Mini potatoes instead of sweet potatoes. Mushrooms in the mix as well. Excited for the leftovers for work lunches this week. Conquered 2 parties last night. I did fill my glass with the signature cocktail - cranberry & vodka at the party last night. Filled the rest of my glass with my fizzy water. So it wasn't perfect but I resisted everything else so I don't feel terrible. I know I should start over but I'm not going to. Hope everyone is great! Aimee

@shelblandrum Way to go on the pizza! I have stayed away from almond butter b/c I can see that getting out of control for me. B'fast sweet potato with spinach & a slice of sugar free bacon. Pear. Lunch: leftover pulled pork over a baked potaot Dinner: leftover chicken thighs from last night. Also a small salad. Two parties tomorrow - one for lunch & dinner. I plan on eating my lunch & dinner before going to both parties & enjoying the company of my friends. I plan to bring two fizzy waters with me to both events. Making chili for my lunches next week. Also will do some meal prep for dinners. The Chiefs won last night. They don't play again for another 10 days on which I will be on Day 21. Very excited about that. I have tickets to the game but may just watch at home (so much easier to be on plan). Have a great Friday people!

Howdy all! B'fast: apple & a pear (I was on the run this am.) Lunch: Steak salad; passed up the bread with room temp butter at lunch; not too bad Dinner: Chicken Thighs with Artichokes, Beets, Lemon & Olives http://soletshangout.com/crispy-chicken-skillet-with-artichokes-beets-lemon-olives/ I don't have any compliant chicken broth so may use water. Watching football tonight (Go Chiefs!) and have been thinking about red wine. We aren't entertaining anyone & I don't think husband will be drinking so that is helpful. But I do love wine. Cheers everyone!

Trader Joe's and Whole Foods have premade cauliflower rice. Im doing good. There is so much junk in our office kitchen right now but I'm able to pass knowing it's not part of the plan right now. Cookies will be there next year. Its just so empowering to do this in Dec rather than Jan. Cooking a ton. Usually use leftover for lunch. What Meal Planner App? Cheers!

Breakfast - compliant bacon & eggs; pear Lunch: salad Dinner; http://meljoulwan.com/2015/03/31/paleo-creole-ham-and-cauliflower-rice/ Was supposed to make it last night but forgot I had ordered three meals thorugh Hello Fresh & they arrived yesterday. So I cooked the one with shrimp - it was really good. Everything was compliant except for the rice & the soy sauce they sent. So I dished mine out before I mixed the rice and soy sauce in. It really was good. Looks like the other two meals I ordered are not compliant so I will use them Thurs/Fri for the family & just eat the leftovers. Listented to one of my favorite podcasts today "Happier wtih Gretchen Rubin." One of the topics was to NOT treat yourself with food. That if it's going to make you feel crappier later on, then it's not really a treat. Feel like I am getting that message loud & clear with the Whole 30. Excited to get through this month with not dreading Jan 1. How is everyone doing? Cheers!

I got over my potato chip craving. Walked to the store & got a baked potato & nuked it & put my leftover pulled pork on it. Wonderful & filling. ALSO NSV - stopped at a thrift store in between work today & got a size 12 jeans. Woot! Muffin top action working but they fit around the waist. Woohoooohoo! Also got a new wool sweater in size Large when I am normally an XL. Sweet!

Today I am having cravings for some potato chips. Or just anything crispy/crunchy like that. I am eating an apple and baby carrots instead. B'Fast: Eggs & sweet potato B'fast: leftover apple pulled pork (it was really good). Dinner: ham & caulifolower bake http://meljoulwan.com/2015/03/31/paleo-creole-ham-and-cauliflower-rice/ Challenges this week are two Holiday Parties on Sat: But I am going in prepared & ready to rock that. As with everything in life where I have tasted success, preparation is the key.

Keep going! Being sick sucks!!! Maybe find a soup recipe you can nosh on for the next few days. I do think it will get better! What other NSV are you seeing/feeling? http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-nsv.pdf Yes. Welcome! Awesome for the energy levels. I really can't think of a better time to start than right now. Pretty empowering to stick to it through the Holidays. Cheers!

Today was the first day I really had to use my Resistance Muscle. Over at my moms for dinner (she prepared salmon for me) but also made this amazing pasta pie for the rest of my family. Holy shnickeys that looked good. Cookies brought over by a friend but they had peppermint in them so easy to resist. Currently husband and daughter preparing more cookies for school tomorrow. I have my hot tea and the season finale of Westworld to get me through. Made twice baked sweet potatoes for breakfast this week. Have enough leftover chili for lunch and am doing a pork shoulder in the crockpot for dinner. We should be good for lunches for the week. ^^^^I wrote the above last night but guess I forgot to press the button. Had the sweet potatoes for breakfast - they were so rich. Don't laugh but I kept thinking they tasted like a really rich cheesecake. In fact I couldn't finish it and am very full. @Sieb this is my first Whole 30 but I heed your warning about day 20. But like you i am just trying to take it day by day and meal by meal. The hardest part so far is not weighing myself -but I can console myself with looser fitting clothes. @NoMoreCrunchyCravings thanks for starting this thread. Your posts really inspire me to stick with it!! Breakfast: twice baked sweet potatoes lunch: leftover chili dinner: pork shoulder and roasted red peppers. http://pureandsimplenourishment.blogspot.ca/2014/12/slow-cooker-apple-rosemary-pork-roast.html?m=1 Everyone have a great day.
