    @ctabz58 - the meal template outlines protein to be recommended as 1-2 palm sized servings (the length, width and thickness of your own palm), veggies as several cups (1 minimum, 3+ optimal) and then a fat serving that is 1-2 of your thumb or half to whole avocado or handfuls of olives etc. I have no clue what 1oz of potato and 1oz of carrot works out to but it doesn't sound like very much food to me.

    That attack sounds really scary! Hopefully you're able to recover quickly and take on the rest of the challenge. Let us know how you improve!

    Making it meal by meal over here.  Snow heading our way (very unusual for us) so everyone is in a tizzy and grocery stores are packed.  I have to admit, I ran out to get stocked up on eggs.  As long as I have eggs to do something with, I can make it .  I have ratatouille fixings on hand for the weekend.  The egg bake recipe sounds great and I may work on that this weekend as well.  As long as we maintain power.  I'm feeling a little less bloated and 'cleaner' if that makes any sense.  Have a good weekend everyone.

    I made the beet salad recipe in the below book.  Quite yummy.  It has mayo, horseradish, rosemary, etc.  I made beef broth from the Whole30 book.  Husband said that was not allowed to be made inside again...said it smelled bad.  I think I agree.

    Well I made it through 2 days now, not too bad. Slight headache, ankles not swollen, feet feel better. I think my mind is playing game with me. I have had black coffee and did not die. I cheated and put cinnamon in my coffee, so black with a spice. Not bad. No one is dead yet at my house. Making chicken today, excited about trying a new recipe. I am so excited to complete the next 28 days.

    I am starting on the second, sounds like I will have lots of folks in the same situation. I feel a bit better knowing I am not alone. Also, sound like some of you are a bit intimidated like myself. I am looking forward to the challenge. My biggest worry is black coffee. I love my non-dairy creamer but its got sugar,  so black it is... yikes. I can do this, I have three grown daughters, now that was hard. See you at the end.

    For anyone who can't (or won't) drink black coffee, look up Nutpods.  They are Whole30 approved and you can order on Amazon.  They are amazing and have replaced (for me) milk in my coffee.  I cannot drink black coffee. During my first Whole30 I used Coconut milk when I had coffee, now I use nutpods daily.  They have 3 flavors, french vanilla, hazelnut and original.  seriously, so good.  they take a second to get used to, but I now prefer even the original to the milk I used to use.  
    I am doing my 2nd full W30.  I did 10 days back in August and a complete W30 last March/April.  I came so far off the rails during the holidays, this is the only way back. I also need to get back in shape, so this time around I am also exercising during these 30 days.  I look forward to the camaraderie this forum provides as I am single, live alone and am doing this solo.

    Ahh, yes, changing to black coffee will be hard for me too.  I usually use "natural bliss", and I have been cutting back each day.  Today there is not much in it, but I need to go ahead and cut it completely.

    I will be starting my first 30 day with you all on the second. I am excited in a scary kind of way, but think its time to get my health and life in a good healthy place. I have the cookbook, whole30, and It starts with food. My brain understands the program, now if I can just get my body to be okay with this big change, I will be okay. I am only worried about black coffee, with no dairy and getting rid of cheese. But a small price to pay for good health. I am rewarding myself with a pedicure after my thirty days are over. I think this is an awesome way to start the new year.
