@sunnytropic I hope things are going better for you! @CaseyLee Thanks!! I finished Round 2 on the 30th and am down another 4 lbs (16.6 since we started our round on January 2nd). I'm finally in the normal BMI range after working to get there for over 13 years! Whole30 has changed my life. That's that folks, I think I'll live this way forever, staying 90-95% compliant. Sugar, bread, alcohol, beans, dairy, ugh all of it makes me sluggish or ruins my stomach. I just don't need it.

Hi guys! I'm on R2D12 and going strong. My husband had to go to Banana Republic today for their big friends and family 50% off sale and I tagged along. I picked up a size 2 dress just to see if I could maybe, just maybe look decent in it.... if it would even fit over my thighs. My husband zipped it up for me in the dressing room and I about fainted, say what?! I'm wearing a size freaking 2 dress???!!! I'm absolutely beside myself. I know that weight loss isn't the main reason for doing Whole30, but it sure has made me so happy to finally have the ability to get back down to a healthy weight. I still wish I could get more of my friends and family on board, they could benefit sooooooo much! How's everyone else doing?

Sounds like you all are really doing well on slow-roll! I feel like I have achieved similar results in regard to how I handle social situations. I haven't eaten the first donut or girl scout cookie this year and I feel phenomenal. Nothing can stop me! I had maybe 4 meals that wouldn't be considered compliant and two of those, the ingredients were still technically compliant. I no longer order refills on wine, I don't sit at my desk and fret about when I'm going to eat again, and I don't hate black coffee anymore, WHO AM I? Today I am starting another round of Whole30 to finish out my Winter Challenge at the gym. I'm now within 10 pounds of my goal weight, as I have lost another 2.5 pounds since we finished our W30. I expected a slow down in weight loss due to re-intro and also working out 2 days less a week. It's my busy time at work and I've been working a ton of OT but we're back to normal hours on Monday!!! I'm going to keep going with how I did Whole30 the first time, but I will go back to 4-5 days of working out a week and see how that treats me. I am so happy I stuck with Whole30, it's truly been the best experience. I wouldn't trade it for anything, and I got to meet you guys: +having your support has been priceless!

    Maintaining Muscle

I used to never eat anything before working out (CrossFit) and then I started having Cellucor C-4 and half a banana. That combo got me nowhere, I was getting stronger, but it seemed like I consistently had a layer of fluff! I randomly read another post around week 2 of my W30 during January about pre-workout meals and that it really doesn't have to be anything major. I took that post verbatim and have been eating an egg yolk from a hard boiled egg before my workouts and afterward, I eat the white and a few bites of sweet potato. I have my actual breakfast at work, but my workouts are so much better now that my body has grown accustomed to my new way of eating.

I'm currently working through the reintro phase since finishing my first round, it's been a great learning experience. Bread makes me sluggish and exhausted for days (literally 3 days), but I can eat ice cream and stop after a few bites (it used to be my food without breaks!). I'm trying peanut butter today, so we'll see how that goes. I shopped for jeans last night and left with a pair of size 6 jeggings and boot cut jeans from Express. I have not worn a size 6 in 15 years! I am beyond elated right now! I'll be starting R2 on March 1st, anyone else doing the same?

I'm working on a slow roll re-intro. I have found that bread makes me really, really, really tired. It isn't worth it, to me, to eat it. I like feeling energetic. I haven't re-intro'd alcohol because I already know how that makes me feel, it's not good, and my sleep always suffers after I imbibe in alcohol. My husband and I are going out to dinner with his brother tonight. I may re-intro something with dairy in it, since that's allowed during the winter challenge I'm a part of at the gym. It's going to probably be Indian, I really don't want to end up sick tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for me, you guys!!!! My husband's and mine (kinda), NSV: I begged him to go get his blood work done to see if W30 had any effect on his LDL cholesterol. He was very negative about it because the doctors have been telling him that once he started on statins, he would have to take them for the rest of his life. High cholesterol does run in his family, but so does sedentary lifestyles, full of fried and fatty foods. Well, he got his blood work done and the doctor called yesterday to tell him to stop taking his meds immediately and that he could stay off them forever as long as he continues doing what he's doing!

Today was weigh-in day and I am down 9.9 pounds after my first ever round of Whole30! I really wish I had taken my measurements but I do have before and after pics that I'm really not that thrilled about. I can see some changes, but was hoping they were a little more dramatic seeing as though a nearly 10 pound loss off a 5'1" person should be noticeable. Like they say, we're our own worst critics.

Oh wow, I didn't know it was widespread, but you are probably right. If I'm not hungry there's no way I'm not getting enough energy from food. It could also be that I no longer have the boost from a pre-workout drink I was having before the gym everyday and I also cut out my pre-workout half a banana. Zero sugar pre-workout is a huge difference.

All I know is that I really hope my after pic looks much better than my before pic, wowzers. I thought I was in better shape with working out consistently since February of last year. I also need to find what my body needs for strength, I thought I was eating enough, but I'm not able to lift as heavy as I was before W30. I've tried eating more starchy vegetables, but that still isn't cutting it. I get protein from either hardboiled eggs or meat at every meal, I'm not quite sure what my deal is.

Thanks again @kirkor. I am hoping we'll figure out where we're going in enough time that I can plan ahead on what I'll be reintroducing during Wednesday's lunch. I'm pretty sure I'll end up with a salad of some sort and I can test out cheese! I am so nervous LOL!

@kirkor Thanks for the tips. I have lunch planned with my coworkers on Day 31 but I really can't go too crazy because I'll still be in the throes of the Winter Challenge at my box, (pic attached). The only things I can really reintroduce during the remainder of this time from what I can tell, is beans and dairy. Before W30 my husband and I weren't really having much dairy, very limited amounts of cheese and sour cream (very rare) to be honest. We have been using coconut or almond milk for years and try to only buy those products that are carageenan free. If anyone could provide some insight as to what I could actually reintroduce while still adhering to my Winter Challenge rules I would be forever grateful! 4B-Winter-Challenge-Rules-2.pdf

Wow guys, three days to go! I can't believe it! I plan to keep going and make Whole30 a WholeForever as I really don't see the need in making any of the old foods a part of my regular diet. I'll save reintroducing foods for when I'm really looking forward to something, a night out, lunch with coworkers and holidays. I really, only, *probably* wouldn't be able to say no to a snickerdoodle!

@Julzology @CaseyLee I, too, have had success with WW only to gain back nearly half of what I lost. I also felt that something wasn't quite right with their plan. It seems like they distract you from what the real problem is by having you figure out how many points are in something. Some days I would eat a Panera bagel for breakfast and only have 5 points left for dinner, it surely wasn't doing me any favors because I didn't learn anything about food. Their snack products are terrible for you and since they're sugary little carb bombs they keep you hooked!

I'm still finding loads of energy on Day 24! I am waking around 10 minutes before my alarm is set to go off for the gym every weekday morning, which is a tad annoying since I get up at 4:45 as it is. This is new for me, I am notorious for sleeping through my alarm and am used to having lots of problems falling asleep at night. Although I didn't "feel" tired I still fell asleep without issue and according to my fitbit I am getting more hours in where I'm not moving at all while I'm sleeping. There have been nights that I've tossed and turned so many times and been up and down that I'm exhausted when I get out of bed, I truly hope that's a thing of the past for me. My coworkers have actually been extremely accommodating during this journey. They no longer parade donuts around my cubicle or snicker as they ask me what weird food I'm having for lunch. I think they know I mean business and have an objective to change my lifestyle and relationship with food in general. Over the past few years I have done what some of them think are outlandish, like cutting out red meat and pork (haven't eaten it since 2014), stopped drinking soda (I can count on one hand the sodas I've drank since 2013), my husband and I tried vegan. My coworkers used to really hassle me about these things, but they've watched me change both mentally and physically over the past year as I have been slowly becoming the best me I can be. I know that totally sounds corny and obnoxious, but all we can do is be the best version of ourselves and every day at the gym our coaches help instill that mentality. I'm there to beat myself, get better, stronger, faster and to be honest, it's helped boost my confidence and I'm more outgoing. Changing my relationship with food is the last step. I have my ducks in a row when it comes to exercise, but before I started W30 I was eating things that weren't doing me any favors. I didn't know I didn't need pre-workout drinks or post workout proteins shakes. I also didn't think I could make it through a whole day without snacking, yet for 23 days I have done it. Whole30 is a game changer for me, I can tell when I look in the mirror that I'm smaller, and it helps to confirm that when my friends, gym buddies and coworkers point it out, not so much the comments like "you don't need to lose any more," or "you're looking a little too thin." I know my body and no, I am not looking too thin, I want to tone and actually be able to see these muscles I've been working! I do my best to share what I'm doing with everyone that asks but like I said before, it's hard to get people to change, especially when they're not open-minded to thinking outside the box. I will just continue setting the example and stay hopeful that others will follow suit. Whole30 isn't a fad diet, and I'm well on my way to proving it's my new way of life.

I'm excited to try this recipe too. It sounds so good. Already thinking I'll try to make garlic mashed potatoes again to go with them, my last batch tasted great, they were smooth but really thick, maybe a little extra unsweetened almond milk will help. I'll have to do it next weekend, extended tax season hours (9a-8p) start at work tomorrow and I'll be working 6 days a week for the next 5 weeks. Yay for OT though!
