I am doing the reintroduction process next week. After my W30 ended I stayed compliant a few more days and then we had a huge birthday party for my daughter and I ended up having a piece of cake, a handful of chips and some spinach dip made with sour cream base. So, I had it all except legumes it seems. I have been compliant since (well I had a tiny amount of dark chocolate at work Wed night) but no dairy, legumes, rice or grains. My plan is to introduce yogurt on Monday and see how it goes. Then I will do legumes the next week and then I want to try rice and then grains. I did a Raw Diet elimination in the past and I didn't have any food allergies or issues. I feel more satisfied and am eating so much cleaner that I love this program. I do like basmati rice so I suspect that will be kept and greek yogurts. I debated using whey power in my smoothies instead but I'd rather eat whole food than a processed power honestly (although I may buy some for my kids and keep it as back up)..

    Hi!
    First of all: http://www.larabarstore.com/?trk_src_ss=LARPAYPCWEBMACSS&gclid=CL7twJakpbUCFUfhQgodNFkA1A
Yum - Larabars. I don't have a recipe, I just wait for them to go on sale. It doesn't look like they ship internationally, which sucks.
So, as far as the reintro, I think I switched my days around, too - I don't remember the order they go in in ISWF. Dairy was yesterday and... didn't go as well as gluten did. About two hours after lunch and dinner (yogurt and sour cream, respectively), I had what I like to call "a bathroom event." Which SUCKS, because the yogurt and the sour cream tasted sooooooo good. I think straight up cheese is okay - which was my experience post-veganism, as well, although between then and the Whole 30 I was able to digest yogurt, sour cream, and other things, just not stright milk - and that makes sense scientifically because of how enzymes are broken down when cheese is made... I used to know more about it, but the make-up of cheese is different enough to be okay for some reason. It's still a "need to limit" food for me.
I still need to do legumes and non-gluten grains... probably one tomorrow and one on Monday... I haven't decided which will be first. I don't miss those two groups as much as I missed bread and dairy, so it will be more of a scientific test than anything. I expect to be gassy with legumes... so maybe I should try those tomorrow so I can spend my gassy days at home!

Hi CupcakeNinja, yes I'm also doing the reintroductions straight from ISWF (just switched the order of them)! I introduced bread and pasta on the first day - by the afternoon I felt like I had a balloon in my belly! On Day 4 had dairy and besides my sinuses feeling a bit blocked I was ok, even though I know if I'd kept the dairy up that problem would've just gotten worse. Two days ago I introduced legumes with the same problem as gluten - heaps of gas which I still have! After reading the section on legumes in ISWF again last night, I think I'll happily avoid legumes from now on. Tomorrow is my last reintroduction, of non-gluten grains. I'm wondering whether in the case of pretty severe reactions whether it would be better to leave more than 2 days between reintroductions, but I don't have that time because we're heading overseas in 3 days.
How have yours been going since your post?
All this talk about Larabars has me fascinated..... I live in Australia and we don't have them here. What are they like and can someone post a recipe, please?!

We co-slept with our kids too. My youngest still climbs in bed with us every night around midnight which is cool but the past two nights my now 6 year old has joined her and I have slept terribly. I blame the birthday excitment for Tues but not sure what happened last night. I am so wiped out.
But I got my Vitamix! Any suggestions on what speed for how to make the Larabars? I am buying the dates today. The recipe I am doing is almonds, coconut flakes, tsp coconut oil and dates. I only have the wet blade so if you have suggestions on how to do it let me know. I don't want to screw up as our budget is super tight until I get paid on the 31st.

Hershey's Unsweetened cocoa is just that: straight cocoa. That was the kind I already had in the cupboard, and I was thrilled it was compliant.
Today is dairy day for me! So far so good - only had some cheese with breakfast. (Yum: cheese. ) Having yogurt with lunch and sour cream and more cheese with dinner tonight. Sour cream is my weakness... I can't wait. Am I the only one on here doing a structred reintroduction plan as outlined in ISWF? This was the part I've been looking forward to the whole time - the biggest reason I was doing the Whole 30 to start with: to figure out if I have allergies/aversions. Happy to rule out a problem with gluten so far, although I'll most likely continue to limit it in my diet for other reasons.

So much good stuff written here. I want to reply and comment. I have 5 minutes to scan and get out to my next meeting. You're all wonderful. You are.
I was so. freaking. blah. yesterday. So. I went to bed a little earlier. For the first time in several weeks, I had to get up in the middle of the night for the potty. It would have been twice had I not woken at 4 (I'm guessing) and decided to just bear with it. That, erm, pressure created quite the stream of weird dreams. None food related. Thankfully.
Anyway, I'm feeling much better today. Much more energetic. So, hey, maybe my dairy indiscretion on Saturday was the culprit and my body is ridding itself of the ickies from fighting that intrusion.
I'm grateful for increased energy. I've already had one networking meeting (over a lovely compliant breakfast) and closed on a mortgage refi. I'm off next to a networking lunch. And then I'm heading off on a 2-hour drive to work with another agency on a new business pitch for the afternoon. And I have to drive back after that. I've packed up boiled eggs, carrots, bananas, and coconut butter for the road and in case any of these meals along the way don't do what they need to.
Mwah! Have a great day (or what's left of it)!

I made that last week before I got sick and only just got to eat some this weekend. You can't really taste the chocolate. Or, at least, it doesn't taste "chocolatey." I think the chocolate probably just adds a depth of flavor. Good chili, though!!

Hello, strangers! So I got the flu a week ago and spent three days (the last three days of the Whole 30 - I was robbed!) home sick, and the last three days recovering. I'm finally feeling better. I did go slightly non-W30 with some Oscillococcinum on day 29, but it seemed like a necessary sacrifice.
Since ending, I have reintroduced wine and gluten (separately and together) and had no ill effects. I didn't go crazy like it sounds like some of you did, just had some paleo sausage with a whole wheat bun on Saturday, toast for breakfast on Sunday, etc. So far I've noticed nothing untoward with the reintroduction.
The good news about my Whole 30: I lost 11.3 lbs! Holy moly! That was about my goal, but I didn't actually think I'd see it. Very exciting. Other than that and a leveling of my energy and hunger throughout my days (which I attribute to not pounding sugar all over the place), I saw no noticeable changes on the Whole 30. In fact, I've slept better since reintroducing gluten than I did (except that one night) on the Whole 30. Isn't that odd? Although maybe it's more my body recovering from the flu than anything else. Whatever it is, I'm glad to FINALLY be sleeping through the night again.
I'm back to Paleo today, will be reintroducing dairy on Wednesday with some Greek yogurt and a Mexican food dinner. Legumes will probably happen on the weekend.
As far as going forward, I'm not sure I'm sold on the Whole 30, but I do want to try another in the summer to see if I see a difference if I do it longer. I never stopped having cravings, I never saw a marked energy level difference (although I may have had too high of expectations on that one - as someone said earlier on here, I was expecting to be climbing mountains while solving quadratic equations and knitting a scarf, or whatever), I didn't sleep better, saw no improvements in my GI complaints (except when I first started the probitotic, but not again since then), etc etc. However, I still haven't had any sugar or gone off my reintro plan, so I haven't fallen all the way back down the rabbit hole. My boyfriend wants to remain mostly Paleo for strictly blood sugar reasons - his b.s. is super controlled when he eats that way, so we will probably maintain some semblance of a Paleo diet from here on out.
I will tell you I am REALLY tired of everything tasting like coconut. I need to find some good go-to recipes that don't use coconut. It's starting to make me gag.
Also - NatPatBen - we tried the jicama home fries, and I didn't like them, either.
Congratulations on the Whole 30 completion, everyone! I'll be interested to see how we all do from here!! And I'll be checking out jtota's blog, too.

    Happy Day 30!
    Some random reflections....
    1. The rules have been essential for me, and I have made the effort to be 100% food compliant.
    2. My experience has been nothing but positive. Really, I cannot think of one negative thing (and believe me, I am very good at thinking of negative things). Even concerning the cost. When I factor in all the previous take out and packaged goods, I think I am spending less now. Plus, I'm a cheap date! I went out to a post-meeting dinner with some colleagues earlier this week, and while everyone spent $40-60, I spent $20 incl tax and tip for a club soda, Thai steamed mussels in a coconut milk base and kale salad with eggs and EVOO&BV (both split with a friend), and a decaf espresso.
    3. I've had some food dreams over the course of the month (crackers and swiss cheese, and a blueberry bagel-which I don't even like) but not that many. Last night, however, was full of them... along the lines of shoveling into my mouth potato chip dregs from the bottom of the bag.
    4. Food dreams notwithstanding...
-I am without cravings. That is nothing short of miraculous.
-I have slayed (or at least caged) the sugar dragon. That door is staying locked.
-I have lost weight. I don't know how much exactly, but I can feel it, and others can see it. Yesterday I received no fewer than 4 comments about it.
-I have begun to heal my gut and reduce IBS symptoms. The food made a big dent, and now I have started digestive enzymes and I believe it's helping even more.
    5. I am trying to conjure up a desire to eat cake tomorrow, or dark chocolate at the stroke of midnight tonight (I'll be at work) and can't seem to manage that desire. If it ain't broke...
My ongoing goals are to continue to work on:
-Improved sleep (got Natural Calm 2 days ago, too early to know anything)
-Muscle aches, starting AI protocol for 30 days as I believe it may be nightshades and nuts related.
-Chronic fatigue. Suspect adrenal fatigue. I am willing to look at my coffee intake. It's a start.
I'll be 48 tomorrow. I look at that number and can't fathom it. It's like when kids grow up and you realize that, truly, 'the days were long but the years were short.'
I am seeing friends and co-workers suffering from ostensibly preventable illnesses and injuries, and I don't want to be one of them. And, whereas I used to be inwardly annoyed by (though outwardly supportive of) all my friends and co-workers who were "weird food people" (come on, just order already, wouldja?!), now, given the choice of one of the "sick" vs. one of the "weird," I'll choose the latter, thank you very much.
I am so appreciative of this thread and the support from you all. I wish you all the very best as you keep on keepin' on in whatever way works for you. I'm not going anywhere, so I'll 'see' you around!

Updated plan of action: so after my 2nd day of experimenting with my Old oatmeal breakfast and then quickly reverting back to eggs I have come up with a new plan. I apologize in advance if this offends anyone but I found it hysterical given my past year if "diet" experimentation. While explaining what I was feeling today to my hubby he says "I've got it! Your plan needs to be vegan with a side of meat!" hehehe! And he's so right. I dint know why I didn't think of it this way before, but whole30 IS a plant heavy diet with just the rigt amount of Protien. So
Instead of a meat free for all, I need to prepare my favorite plant based dishes (without grains etc) and then just add a small servig of meat, hence, vegan- with-a-side-of-meat a new blog may have been born today

Did some soul searching last night and re-read all of the posts here. I think I have decided that this is not for me. I will continue on eating whole foods, no gluten, no sugar with exception of maybe raw honey on rare occasions. But I miss the ease of eating simple things and I really miss my green smoothies. There are so many rules to this whole 30 that it is causing more stress instead of being a positive experience. The goal was to give up the obsession of counting calories and logging every bite I ate but I feel that i've just traded one obsession for another. Constantily worrying about every little spec of ingredient that's in my food is not what i want to be doing. And the more weight I gain the worse I am obsessing, thinking "you must be missing something". I discussed everything with my husband last night to see how he is feeling. He is also feeling, well, fat to perfectly honest. Together we concluded that the only way to continue is to approach things from a new perspective. Go back to eating a heavily plant based diet and if we happen to eat some meat we'll make sure it's good quality. But protein and "meat" will not be the focus, nor will large amounts of added fat. (We won't be cutting fat out, just not a tablespoon of oil or whatever with every meal.) I don't know if this is correct thinking or not, but I am out ideas and running out of jeans that fit :/.
On a positive note . . . Congrats to everyone who is finished tomorrow. And congrats to those of you that had positive results! It's awesome when hard work really pays off!
