    How much do you off-road?

JJB- What you said about being comfortable with the black and white rules really resonated with me! I can totally relate to that. I have found being off the W30 a lot harder than actually being on it. I'm battling with these guilty feelings when I do have an latte once or twice a week, or some chocolate. My mind immediately jumps to the "Oh, you failed. May as well fail some more." and then I reach for more chocolate! I have been off the W30 for nearly 2 weeks now and it has definitely been a rollercoaster. Some days have been better than others! My meals are mostly compliant apart from the occasional sauce that has been made with sunflower oil, or I have a real craving for vegetable chips that are also made with sunflower oil. Trying to really focus now and brush off those guilty feelings. A square or two of chocolate is fine, but the guilt that comes after it and then that leading to over indulging is not.

    Finished Whole30- really disappointed

Thank you for all the support! Tom, I do find that I sleep very well but as I am in my final year of University, I do get stressed easily. That may hinder it! Going for a massage today was just what I needed and I feel much better. Kb0426 and Lisa, I think that the amount of fat I have with meals is fine, probably 2 thumb sizes at each meal, but I definitely consume more than that throughout the day. I am a sucker for coconut! and occasionally nuts! If I cut out these extras and just focus on the meals then hopefully that will help! Robin, when you say minimize exercise do you mean the high intensity things? I am struggling to get my head round minimizing exercise...it is such a good stress reliever and makes you feel so good!

    Finished Whole30- really disappointed

Thank you Lisa! I won't give up at all...I have had some time to think about it and am feeling much more positive! I did measure myself before and after and there was no change. I blogged about it: http://munchingandmoving.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/whole30-round-up.html I think what I will do is cut back on the fat. I think I was probably eating too much of it so I am going to see what happens in the next week! Do you think this is the right thing to do? Today I am rewarding myself with a massage with my best friend, and a latte from Starbucks!
  4. So I have just finished my first Whole30 and not only did I not lose weight, but I gained a pound. I know that it isn't all about the weight but this is so massively disheartening. To go through all that and feel really proud that I finished it, but to be worse off (Weight wise) than when I started. What did I do wrong? I have PCOS, take 1500mg Metformin a day, and been told that I need to lose weight to control my symptoms. Diet wise I was usually eating 3 eggs and spinach in the morning cooked with a tablespoon of ghee. Lunch was a sweet potato, smoked mackerel and vegetable crudettes, with some ghee and coconut flakes. Dinner was riced cauliflower, cumin roasted carrots and meat. I would have the odd handful of coconut flakes between lunch and dinner, and them maybe one after dinner too. Exercise: 2 Body Combat cardio classes a week, 2 weight training sessions, 1 Pilates class, and lots of walking. If anyone has any advice than that would be great.

I just started my period 8 days early!

I have PCOS and usually only have a period every 8-12 weeks....but today it came early! Like really early. As in 4 weeks to the day from the last one! I'm literally in shock. Long live the Whole30.

    Weight loss and exercise

Hi Jenny! Good job at keeping going with the Whole30! I get really disheartened when the scale doesn't reflect on your effort. I haven't weighed myself since my last post and I'm not going to until the 30 days are up. I am trying to focus on the things that I do feel changing! For example...I sleep like an absolute baby! Seriously, I have never slept so good. Also, I don't get hungry between meals which is amazing since I used to eat every couple of hours or so! My skin is starting to feel tighter if that is the right way to describe it! and it is also really smooth! Don't get me wrong, I am sooo hoping for some change on the scale at the end, but I am starting to realise that a number isn't the be all and end all.

    Weight loss and exercise

Haha ok thank you! I shall go check out that thread and eat a sweet potato while I am at it;)
  8. Hi guys, I am currently finishing up day 11 of my first whole30! I will admit now I have cheated in ONE area....the dreaded scales. I stepped on them this morning and I am pretty much the same as when I started. I am 5'3 150lbs and am finding these last 10lbs very very stubborn. I know that I am only a third of the way through but I can't stop that niggling feeling in my mind. I want to be healthy and finish this journey, it is just hard not to think about weight and my expectations in that area! I currently do Body Pump 3 times a week and a combat CV class 3 times a week, and have been doing for a long time now. Reading some of the comments on this forum, I have now thoroughly confused myself with the idea that working-out too much is counter-productive! Anyone able to offer some advice on this? Secondly, regarding the fats on the Whole30...I think I am eating too much of it! An average day usually consists of: Breakfast- 3 eggs scrambled in some ghee, and some smoked salmon Lunch- A big leafy salad with 2 home-made scotch eggs from 'Well Fed', with olive oil and balsamic vinegar Dinner- Ground beef in a tomato based sauce with mashed cauliflower and green beans, cooked in ghee. Snacks- random handfuls of coconut flakes throughout the day Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

fraud no more, December 31 starting my first Whole30!

Hi dirtyjeepgirl! I lived in Santa Cruz for a year 2011/2012 and I am missing it so much! I started my first Whole30 yesterday so I am with you on this journey! I understand exactly what you mean about feeling a hypocrite. I have spent the last couple of years living paleo....ish. I would happily and proudly announce that I was having no grains, no dairy, no sugar etc when in fact it was sneaking into my diet. I would rave about Paleo to my friends but I wasn't following it as well as I should have been. I am 21 and want a career in the health and fitness industry, and this is one of the reasons why I am doing the Whole30. I am sick of working out, but then sabotaging my progress and my goals by cheating. Good Luck on your Whole30!

    Post Holiday Whole37 12/26/12-1/31/13

I started today!! First time starting a Whole30 so I am pretty scared. Excited too though. I had smoked salmon and eggs this morning, now off to the store to grab some ingredients for recipes in the 'Well Fed' recipe book! Quick question....what do you usually eat for breakfast that incorporates protein, fat and veggies?

    PCOS Support Thread

Hey ladies! I am 21 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I have been overweight all through my teens and have been on various diets. Having tried Paleo out about two years or so ago I noticed a big difference in my symptoms! My periods become more regular and I lost a bit of weight. However a year ago I started taking Metformin. I've recently been having stomach troubles with it and want to come off of it. I'm hoping that if i can really get my lifestyle and diet under control then I could come off of it! I haven't done a whole30....I have the book in front of me, but being a student I am really scared that I will fail! Just wanted to say hi and that I really appreciate all your stories and advice and support on this forum!
