    April 11 Re-Intro Start

Well the wine reintro seems to have gone ok, but I was pretty cautious, diluting it with soda. I thought it best to finish the bottle (!) so am continuing today with wine and will assess the next 2 days . Legumes next as I like lentils, hummus (chick peas) and used to like red kidney beans in chilli con carne. I'd noticed before that peanuts give me indigestion so will be careful with them. I was out on a boat trip with friends over the weekend so wasn't able to eat totally W30 compliant (bacon, black pudding, some cake - oops!) I was extolling the benefits of W30 and got asked to explain how seeds & legumes differ and why one is good, one bad... Gonna have to do some research unless a friendly moderator is listening in...

Well it's nice to be moving on into reintro with everone. I lost a couple of kilos during my W30 and my clothes are a bit looser which is welcome. So i started with dairy - packed in cream, butter, yoghurt and cheese in 1 day. A couple of reactions that sent me looking up dairy's effects on the menstrual cycle. So now, i may just forego the majority of dairy and just have a bit of cheese occasionally. In any case, if you watch 'dairy is scary' on youtube, why would you eat it?! I have also slept really badly for 2 nights. I don't know whether to attribute this to dairy or not. I think I'll have to trial this again later on to see if there is a relationship. Tonight and tomorrow night i am moving onto wine. I wanted to have gin & tonic but the mix of sugary mixer and potentially a grain based spirit don't seem appropriate just yet. (shame)

@elaes thanks for the link and for the congrats. I'll take a look at that link now. We're all gonna be crossing the finish line in the next few days. Way to go people!! Nice one.

What a surprise I got this morning! I mean, I've not been focused so much on the days, so when I checked my kitchen chart I see that today is day 31!! That has really crept up on me. So much so that I can't start reintroduction today as I don't have the right food in the house. I thought I'd start with dairy as I had been eating yoghurt, cheese & cream occasionally before W30. Then for the weekend I'm going to put wine back in as I'll be out with friends. After that, I'm not sure as I feel I could leave most things out. But i feel just a bit disappointed. I started my W30 hoping that it might help improve a chronic pain issue for which i take constant medication. It doesn't seem to have had any effect there. Yes my trousers feel loser, but I'm not overweight and losing weight was not a primary motivation. So I may just keep going for another couple of weeks....

I've noticed that the posts have dropped off significantly these past few days. I hope everyone is hanging in there... So I made a huge pan of pulled pork carnitas at the weekend (a recipe from the W30 book). I'm not a fan of cinnamon but it adds an interesting layer of flavour and this is such a great dish that it's gonna keep ms going for a few days. I'm noticing how sweet some of the veggies taste, particularly pumpkin and turnip. At work today we had fruity Tuesday. Up to now I've been avoiding dates as I love them so much that I can eat a tonne. But i allowed myself a few from the fruit bowl, together with some melon and passion fruit. I consider this to be a slight transgression, so here I am owning up Looking forward to your posts. Just say hi if you're still with us.

@River30 - it's great that you are able to be completely honest with our group here and to warn us about the dangers of off roading. Keep soldiering on!! I find it incredible that I can just walk past the chocs at work and not even feel tempted but I just started reading about the reintroduction phase last night as I'm keen on having a glass of wine at some point. At the weekend I did a 7km obstacle course. I didn't eat for a couple of hours afterwards and didn't feel famished, so I'm happy that I am eating enough. But get this - I am really sweating, particularly during the night and sometimes after a meal. I looked it up in the forum and some suggest that this is a detox phase, possibly my hormones starting to reset. If that's the case, then I am more determined than ever to stay on course because maybe this is my body starting to adjust big time - after all, we were told it would take 3 weeks. I don't know how long the sweats are gonna continue but I am seriously increasing my water intake to compensate Keep posting everyone! The finish line is in sight.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm gonna have to switch my focus then. You know, until I started on the W30, with all the guidance on food prep, i would never have thought that i could arrive home at 6.30pm, roast 2 chickens and an oven full of veg, and be back out the door by 8.15pm for my yoga class

@elaes great success on the dinner party!! You are so right that it's good to spread the word about what you're doing & why. After a long day at work yesterday i had a networking do in the evening. Right from the start the beer and wine was flowing and it sure looked tempting. But as i nursed my sparkling water i got into some interesting conversations about the W30 and how eating real food has delivered health benefits to many - so now a couple more people are gonna go & look it up. Tomorrow night the gastro girls are heading for a fish restaurant so this afternoon i'm just gonna check the website to see if there might be compliant food on the menu. Here's hoping. I'll let you know how it goes

Hmm, somewhere along the way i have missed the recommendation on fluids. I drink a lot of tea - green, black, herbal plus a couple of cups of coffee a day. Do i have to drink water or does my tea etc count towards that 60oz (1.7litre) recommendation?

Whoa, day 15 is in the bag and i can't believe that I am now over halfway. I noticed over the weekend that I was hungry a lot of the time and with some unusually rainy weather keeping me in the house my thoughts turned a couple of times to cake and chocolate, which i used to snack on. But I'm too far into the programme to give in to my cravings so I made a super protein salad and a big pile of those cute little pork burgers. I'm coming to the conclusion that I need to eat more so I am looking again at the recommended portion sizes to keep on track. @River30 - i admire your resolve but for myself I'm having to eat quite a lot of starchy carbs to fuel my hiking & gym visits. I even ate some white potatoes the other day which have been on the W30 and paleo bad boy lists for a long time - i don't think I've had any for maybe 2 years or more. Anyway, the other evening, as I was gobbling down my food, it suddenly occurred to me to remove the distractions and really concentrate on eating. And you know, that felt like a step change in my approach. I was able to taste all the flavours that I'd put in and I felt more satisfied. My fridge is just busting with healthy food and I am optimistic that we're all gonna make week 3 a success . Keep it coming.
  11. What a great post, thanks for sharing it. And i think your comment above is really motivating for anyone who's considering quitting because they haven't seen the results yet. I'm halfway through my first W30. I haven't noticed much benefit yet but I'm determined to keep going to the end. Posts like yours help reinforce the idea that we're on the right track.

I keep referring back to the timeline to see what's in store for the next few days. It explains that Tiger Blood means different things to different people. For myself I'm hoping that it delivers awesome energy, when i wake early and just wanna jump out of bed and do a 5 mile run. If it's not a dramatic moment like this I'm just gonna sit back, with my glass of sparkling water and lime (thanks GoMommaGo) and congratulate myself on having got my cravings under control. Then I'm just gonna push on and see what happens

I also made a big pan full of cauliflower rice last night. It's so easy to make and goes well with all sorts. But I've nearly emptied the freezer of sloppy joes to eat with it, so this weekend I'm gonna follow some of the recipe links for next week's prep. This morning i had a networking breakfast. I wasn't going to risk eating non-compliant food so i thought i'll just eat my usual eggs for breakfast & see what turns up on the buffet. So there was a huge array of pastries, breads, scrambled eggs cooked in what fat, maybe with added milk; bacon & sausages - prob non- compliant. But in the corner i found some smoked salmon, cashews and almonds and some melon & pineapple. A strange assortment for sure, but another meal successfully navigated and another step closer to the goal. I really appreciate having this forum to keep us all going. Soon we'll be half way!

@elaes hey! When i got home last night with my carrots i looked up some W30 recipes on the internet. Nom nom paleo had a great carrot soup with cardamom but i didn't have any in the house. I probably haven't used that ingredient for 20 years but i'm definitely adding it to my shopping list again. NSV: one of my hiking buddies is following a free form paleo diet based on her intuition! I had a great chat with her and introduced her to the W30 to help give her eating a bit more structure. Using her hunches, she's not eating enough fat. Finally, today my chin is erupting in pimples. No choc in sight, which is the usual culprit. I guess my detox has begun.

Oh, i seem to have deleted my thanks to @River30 and alexd8 for your suggestions. I am going to have to look out for RX and Larabars. I was just avoiding stuff like that in the W30, assuming they were non-compliant. The radio tells me that today is 'international happiness day' so smile
