I think it's all to see what happens with certain things and if you are 'ok' with it. If you know the beans make you gassy, you can strategize when to eat them better ie) not before a special event, date, etc.

So if I get a little gassy with black beans, does that mean I shouldn't eat them because perhaps they are having an negative effect ? It wasn't horrible, just a little .

I love this program!!!! No zits when I got my period. Yesterday  I bought 3 pairs of pants without trying them on. Today after wearing one of them for half the day I realized they are a size smaller than I thought. They fit just right!! My nose does not run as much as it did a month ago.

I am sorry if this is TMI but here goes- yesterday I only drank 40 ounces of water. I was gassy throughout the day and I did not eat anything non-compliant. Water is really good for our bodies.

I'm reintroducing Greek yogurt for breakfast tomorrow morning, and possibly milk with dinner. I've really missed those! As primarily a vegetarian who eats seafood, I've missed beans and hummus, so I'll add those back in once in a while down the road, but for the most part I'm going to stick with the Whole30 meal templates and foods for the next month. This has been a great experience and really made me face my grazing habits. I'd been lulled into thinking that it was OK to graze because it was healthy food! But now I will stick to eating only at meals, unless the snack is a veggie. Kudos to you all for being part of this and being such a supportive group!

Last day!! On to the reintroductions.  Like I said earlier I am looking forward to trying legumes! Hopefully hummus agrees with me.

A little late to answer this, but sometimes it's your browser. I have troubles with Safari, but Chrome or Firefox seem to work fine.

Whole30 has been awesome. Coworkers have said my skin looks good, and and I've lost a few pounds. Clothes are looser, for sure. Sleeping soundly. At first, making meals was labourous (+ anxiety of me failing didn't help), but I found that having a prep day is a lifesaver, and it takes an enormous amount of pressure off. I can reach in the frig and, oh! a hardboiled egg is in there, or dang, there's some defrosted chicken thighs, and salad-spun kale I can throw in a saute pan, or hot damn! left over chicken hash for breakfast. I was 99% prepared, and the other 1% I got through but never forgot that prepping is #1!
The other best idea was clearing my cabinets and refrigerator with only compliant foods. Takes the guess work out.
Needed snacks on this. No shame. My days are LONG. Epic bars, HB eggs, fermented veggies, macadamia nuts. Life savers. (Mac nuts were more like crack-nuts. I bought one can and that was it! Too addictive.)  Did I cheat? Maybe. I had a kale smoothie here and there, but all ingredients were compliant, and it worked for me.
I didn't have many social engagements, so that helped.
Love this forum. Reminds me I am not alone. Appreciate everyone's vulnerability and courage to go after self-care and love. Curious to hear about those that are slow-rolling and reintroducing, and it's results.

OK, replying to myself to say there appear to be 2 formulations, one with tomato (has "Premium Formula" in a red flag on the box and bottle) which is noncompliant if you are doing AIP, and one with AIP and Whole30 compliant ingredients (no tomatoes) (has "New" in the red flag).  In case anyone needs to know.

I just looked at the Nature's Way for women over 50 and found that it has tomato, which is fine for those on Whole30 but not those following AIP as well.  The regular one "Whole Food Energizer" appears to be compliant with both Whole30 and AIP.  Thanks for the heads up, this thread gave me a good starting point.

I'm not a doctor nor profess to be one, I've had gastric bypass and felt I needed to have some vitamins also, because after gastric bypass your on a slew of vitamins.  I looked for natural vitamins and found "Alive" they also have it for women over 50+.  All natural and compliant I made sure  hopefully this helps, I searched a LONG time to find something and found them!  Good Luck!

we're not doctors, our advice is just that, advice.  If you feel you need more energy, then I suggest that you increase your meal size slightly.

if you have real concerns than consult a qualified nutritionalist, or your GP.

Thanks for the info. I should have mentioned I've done a Whole 30 twice, and lost 28 lbs. I've been doing a modified W30 since I had my knee replaced June 20. I've been feeling the need for some extra energy, which is probably part of the recovery process.

We actually recommend that you forgo your multi vitamin during Whole30 as you should/will be eating such a vast variety of protein, vegetables, fat and some fruit that the vitamin should be unnecessary.  The Whole30 recommendation is for a brand you could use if you were wanting to supplement. It's not that they are recommending folks take a multi.

I com if with mindy5... Dairy for each meal? Never do that. I know I had problem with milk and flip item before whole30. So can I just reintroduce cheese and yoghurt?
    Updated...
    Never mind found the answer...
"Reminder: If you don’t miss a particular food or drink that you know makes you less healthy, don’t bother to reintroduce it. Not missing tofu, black beans, cottage cheese, or brown rice? With evidence pointing towards these foods making you less healthy, there’s no reason whatsoever to add them back into your diet. Only reintroduce those foods that you suspect you’ll really want to include back into your diet once in a while, and leave the rest happily behind. - See more at: http://whole30.com/step-two-finished/#sthash.niD63BhC.dpuf"

It really isn't possible to have a reliable "Can I have" app as brands and preparation methods and formulations can vary so much and can change at any time. The house brand that was compliant last week can have non-plan ingredients this week. Any app is likely to be incomplete and out of date.
Just as importantly, learning to read the labels on everything you buy is a valuable life skill and one of the main NSVs of doing a Whole30. It's more valuable in the long run to develop this mindfulness than to rely on an app.

To be honest, this is just an emotion you need to process.  You're eating 3 template meals a day... there is no room for snacking so enjoy your book...this is the same sort of emotion that people have when they go on road trips or to the movies or to any other thing that they normally graze through... you're not actually hungry, you're just in the moment of habit and emotion... remind yourself of that... replace that chocolate with a cozy blanket or your cat or a nice cup of tea and don't think anymore about food than you do on any other day... easier said than done, but totally doable!

Don't get derailed--don't choose to sabatoge yourself--because of weather (what would you do if it were -10 and ice?) --or because of work or friends or family or . . .
Don't focus on what you can't eat. Remember why you are doing a Whole30. Don't you have some good reasons for doing this?
Focus on one template meal at a time and celebrate your nutritious and satisfying food.
