Good luck to you! Of course luck really has nothing to do with it. Plan, plan, plan...

The mods always say to make sure you are adding in the extra healthy fat at each meal.  Sauces and salad dressings, nuts and olives are the healthy fat that is supposed to help you feel full longer.  Go for veggies denser than just lettuce.  Try to take the time for sit-down meals. I know it's hard when you have so much going on, but "grazing" doesn't give your body a chance to have the hungry/full signals it needs.

Hello all!  I am on Day 31!  I have not reintroduced anything yet, but here are my results:
I weighed myself this morning and gained three pounds but I was slender to begin with so while I was slightly annoyed, my BMI is still under 21.  (My BMI went from 20.4 to 20.8)  I think I am actually going to permanently ditch the scale.  I didn't miss it at all and have only weighed myself a few times this past year.  I only did a pre-weigh and a post-weigh for the purpose of Whole30. My stomach is flatter and my waist is smaller.   My skin looks amazing!!!   My cheekbones are more pronounced. My teeth are whiter.  I think this is because I am not snacking between meals, didn't drink red wine this month and drank less coffee. I might be hallucinating, but I seem to have less gray hair around my temples. I have better, steadier energy. I am sleeping well every night and waking up easily every morning. My biggest victory this month is really making healthy eating the most important priority for both me and my family.  I am making healthier meals for my family and waking up a little earlier to make them good breakfasts & lunches everyday in addition to good dinners.  We also talk more about healthy eating and how it makes us feel better than eating junk food.  My 10 yer old son told me he had pizza and a soda at a student council meeting and immediately had a stomachache after eating.  He said it wasn't worth feeling that way.  He asked me to bring healthy food and water when it was his turn to bring in a snack.  My 6 year old daughter told me that she asked for a sticker instead of a candy for a prize for behaving well in class.  I don't "forbid" them from eating junk food but I never buy it for them.  I want them to successfully learn how to make their own healthy choices by setting a good example and always having healthy food in the house.

So this is my 3rd go around doing Whole30. I love it and thought that I should get my Mom to do it since she is saying she wants to lose weight and has a lot of aches and pains and general tiredness. She is 89 so that is to be expected and she also has dementia. She is in stage 4ish and doing pretty well. So we started on 1/14/19 and we are on day 10. I am feeling amazing as I always do at this time and she is exhausted! She doesn't want to drink her tea (she has about 4 cups of decaf per day) since she cannot use Sweet N Low. She is eating everything I give her and there is nothing that she can get a hold of to go off schedule so there is no cheating. She slept most of the day today and feels super out of it. I am wondering if I should just encourage her to push through and things will get better in a week or if I should allow her to add Stevia back in so that she is drinking more and keep things going. Does anyone have experience in this? Anyone have similar experience of story?

I'm on Day 29 Today, Monday!!  But, on Wednesday, I'm doing Day 1--another 30!
I really recommend the Whole 30 Day by Day (book/journal).  It's been really helping me stay focused.
I just got another to start my second Whole 30.
This is not easy, but it isn't as hard as you'd think.  Within a few DAYS I had huge "non-scale" victories--better sleep, no nightly Pepsid, less brain fog.
Keep yourself Accountable by putting your Health 1ST!  Get through the first few days and you will not want to quit!!
You really have to decide that you are worth taking care of YOU!

Hi, This is my second time doing Whole30.  I was successful last April and i am now on Day 8.  I am feeling good and getting into the groove of the program.  I love to cook and I am enjoying finding new recipes to try and changing old recipes to make them Whole30 compliant.  I think that I may stay away from certain food groups entirely after these 30 days.  I feel like some foods do nothing good for me.  I look forward to reading other members posts each day.
Here is a photo of my breakfast plate today:  tomato, cucumber, spinach, avocado, eggs, and local sausage.

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to all things Whole30! I have been reading and researching this approach to wellness for about the past week. I am excited to get started and have picked Monday as my start date. I'm anxious because I have not been able to make good food choices stick in the past for more than a day or 2. I really want (need) for this to work. It's a long story, but I have medical issues that will be much approved by better dietary choices. Not to mention the improved feeling of wellness which no doubt is the best part of this lifestyle.
My biggest challenge is that I am at best culinary challenged. I have zero confidence in the kitchen that is realistically based on past experience. I've cut myself, a couple of times severely, in the past chopping veggies and I've set my kitchen on fire once cooking. I wish I was kidding about this because it would be quite funny if it didn't cause anxiety that holds me back.
I'm also very practical and like to keep things simple so I can easily become overwhelmed.
If you're still reading, well first thank you, I'm asking you to please post anything that you've found helpful in your process with this 30 day plan. It could be recipe/food tips (MUCH APPRECIATED!) or just a light bulb moment you've had in your new mental clarity.
Looking forward to reading your replies and other posts on this forum!
    Kim

I read somewhere that if you have to have milk/creamer/sugar in your coffee then you don't really like coffee.  Or something to that effect.  My man likes to add so much milk and sugar to his morning coffee that it really is more of a coffee flavored milk drink.
As for me, to drink the coffee black I had to start with diluting it down.  I can't drink it straight at full strength.  So the kettle goes on the stove while the coffee pot is working.  Since I live with someone else I can't just make it to the strength I can handle and this seemed to be the best compromise. I don't drink it all day so I don't have a problem there.
It will still take you a few mornings for your taste to adjust to it but you will eventually find your happy medium.

My advice is to keep it simple at first.  Cook what you like that is already Whole30 compliant, and tweek the ones that are almost compliant.  While it's great to try new recipes, it can be a bit overwhelming at the start.
Read ALL ingredient labels, even the spice mixes.  Here in the US we are bombarded with some form of sugar, soy or corn in almost everything.
Sauces are your friend.  They can be as simple or as elaborate as you like but they will take a plain piece of chicken/fish/veggie to the next level, and it counts as your added fat.  My fave is a simple lemon/light olive oil mix.  It goes over anything.
Remember that there will be a learning curve, so don't stress it.
    You can do this.

Hello and welcome.  I'm on Day 12.  Not quite "rockin' along" yet but hopefully getting there soon.  I've set my phone alarm to go off every 1.5 hours today.  I seem to be forgetting to drink any water the last couple of days.  Not good when increasing the vegetable/fiber intake.
My goal is to bring my blood pressure and my blood sugar levels down, and to break the snacking habit.  And I would love to have the energy level of a toddler.

Hello!  I am a 'young' 67.  I battled obesity all my life but had bariatric surgery 15 years ago and I have maintained a 200 lb weight loss all that time. My life is 180 degrees different than the first 3/4 of my life.  And......I have stayed about 220 for the past 15 years.  I do realize that is not a healthy weight for me, but I think I felt SO different from when I was  420 pounds that I just dove into life as best I could.  I saw my ND last week and she suggested I do the Whole30 as a reboot for a healthier life.  I have Type 2 diabetes, in my earlier years had PCOS, my liver enzymes are a bit high and a I have psoriatic arthritis...the pain from the PsA has been really bad.  The doctor who helps with the PsA wants me to go on another biologic medicine but that scares me as it messes with the immune system.  My ND has talked to me about sugar being such an increaser of inflammation and all the conditions I deal with have the inflammation component.  So...here I am.  I do hope to lose weight over the next year or so...but more than anything I really want to FEEL better, and get this inflammation to calm down.
My Mom passed on 2 years ago and I miss her so much, but I was so blessed she made it to 95.  Tomorrow is the 97th anniversary of her birth, and I could give her no better birthday gift than to take better care of her baby girl...me!  Here I go.

Hello! I started on the 15th and am ticking along quite nicely too. My husband isn't doing W30 either, but is supportive and will eat what I make. I have always had different sides to him, so it's not a big adjustment.
I'm doing this to try and isolate some health issues too - I have a elimination diagnosis of IBS (meaning they can't find anything else wrong with me, so IBS is the fallback position) and I have had chronic vertigo for a year and a half that no one can diagnose (despite multiple MRIs, 2 neurologists, 1 optha-neurologist, an ENT specialist etc etc). I have a history of whacky intolerances which come and go, so I'm hoping that is these conditions clear while I'm on W30 I can isolate causes.
  23. Thanks

I mean to your meal plans.  I felt extremely fatigued in the first week.  That wasn't supposed to happen until around days 7-8.  Looking back at my Day By Day journal and my Plan To Eat meal planning app I saw that I had not had any starchy carbs.  At all.  In fact it was all veggies from the same family - cabbages.  Adjustments have been made in my meal planner to include a bigger variety of non-starchy veggies and a few potatoes.
With a journal you can look back and see if all your meals contained a protein, fat and carb.  I write in mine that ______ was my protein, _____ was my fat, and _____was my carb.
You can also make notes about how you felt after that meal.  Still hungry?  Over-stuffed?  Did it last 4-5 hours?  Did it make you crave something sweet? That is what I mean by making adjustments where necessary.
I'm on Day 11 today.  So far so good.
