I was planning to do a W30 before vacation and then again after vacation (with a fast track on the reintroduction right before vacation and a slow one after my second W30).  I figured doing it that way would be really telling, but whatever.  I have had a few things off plan since my slip and I am sure to have some things off plan while on vacation (rice, Nuun drinks, etc.) and I was fine.  My W30 after vacation will be followed by a slow reintroduction after.  I gotta say I am pretty happy with the way things are going.  I didn't get to the Tiger Blood stage, but I feel like I was close.  I'm feeling pretty good with how things went and I am super optimistic about where they are going.
My husband is doing this all with me so I have lots of support.  He actually said he wants to live W30 most of the time since he feels great!  He admits he will have his cheats after the completed W30 with reintroduction, but he feels he can control himself and not go on binges.

I'm totally cool with going forward with this W30 as is. I'm just gonna strive to be more careful with my next go around after vacay. No binging going on here and I got over my little slip.
thank you for the words Chef. I kicked my butt and reminded myself that perfection isn't expected per the book. Just took me by surprise that I did something so silly.
Moving forward with my journey. I am in this for my health, not starting a new diet!  Thanks all!

Absolutely no worries!  I am a no BS kinda person so my skin is super thick.  I wasn't implying you thought I was stupid..., and I ain't mad at ya!  Sometimes written word can be heavily misconstrued, so I take everything with a grain of salt...buh dum tsss! I have Epsom salt, so a bath is in order tonight...I can even tell the Fam to leave me alone as I have been advised it is good for my health from those in the know!

@nicky05 , so I am not having issues with food boredom, but my husband and children are!  I am the type of person I could eat the same things over and over and not find myself bored.  This could have something to do with the fact I never learned to appreciate my food or it could have something to do with the fact I prepare everything and I like to keep it simple.  However, my husband doesn't want anymore potatoes at this point.  My son doesn't want another lean steak or chicken.  My daughter, who is the pickiest and doesn't eat meat, is tired of potatoes and veggies only.  I had to substitute some rice into my son's diet as he LOVES it (plain with a little ghee and salt/pepper).  I made some zoodles day before yesterday with some compliant shrimp and scallops "scampi" that was killer.  Made regular pasta for the kids and they loved it too.  So easy, but the flavor excited their taste buds again.  CookyMagoo said to spice things up, so I did!
I find myself not very hungry either (even for me as my medical issues have always made my appetite wonky), but I will say that eating smaller meals at meal time has helped me regulate to 3 "meals" a day instead of just one.  Think smaller meals for 2 of your meals maybe?  Not a snack, but not a full-ghusto meal.
The most important thing I want to say is that "You can do this!"  I am in my first W30 and I am no expert, but maybe we both need someone to tell us that this isn't the hardest thing we have ever done and it isn't the hardest thing we will ever do.  I had someone say this to me and it really resonated!  Give yourself a pep talk and reset your mind.  I went for a walk instead of a jog the other day.  I used to look at walking as the "lazy" exercise (no offense to my fellow walkers), but there is something to be said for the calming effect that walk had on me.  I listened to a podcast instead of music.  I was outside in this crazy heat smiling and relaxed.  It refreshed my spirit more so than any other jog ever has!  I will still go jogging and listen to my rock music while doing so, but I am definitely going to walk a few times a week now instead of jogging as I think it was great for me mentally.  Maybe find some quiet time to reflect on how strong you have been these past weeks and how strong you're going to be for the rest of your W30?!
You only have 13 days left!  From what others who have done W30 around me, this is the point in which pretty much everyone feels great already or they are ready for it to end.  Finish this!  You are not going to cheat!  You are not going to quit!

Thank you so very much!  I know eliminating fat is NEVER going to happen.  I have talked with a nutritionist, but I need to find a new one as she was all about eliminating oils and flavors...like I'm supposed to live my life in a flavor free zone.  I understand we eat to live and not live to eat, but come on!  Not going to happen.  You mentioned several things she wanted eliminated from my diet, but I don't seem to have issues with them (spicy foods), so they stay.  Have you ever thought of writing a cookbook for people who have no idea how to pair foods and what spices work together?  Seems with your experience in the food world and understanding different food cultures you would have great success!  I appreciate your time...I will give everything a try and look at different cuisines from different cultures.    I am not afraid to expand my pantry and am quite adventurous, so I'm ready to get started.

    MarieC,
So fat is the main building block in the flavor profile of all restaurant foods. The exception would be a steamed/poached fish or veg, but fat is always added after cooking to enhance the taste. I think you will find that in MOST cases, the vagus nerve condition you speak of is most often, a complication of diabetes and fat is not a contributing factor. Hopefully you have consulted with a nutritionist as well as a Gastroenterologist regarding this. I am not an MD. All fats are not created equal. Pastured animal fats (including ghee) are the best nutritionally, followed by the mono-unsaturated fats in avocado and olives (cold pressed only). If you are eliminating seed, nut and flower oils and hydrogenated fats on this plan, you are on the right track.
I am a fan of the peppers and ground herbs for flavor enhancement beyond fat. Ancho chile pepper, chipotle, coriander, cumin, paprikas(plain and smoked)hot and mild, as well as ground mushrooms, fish sauce, vinegars of all stripes and of course garlic onions and shallots. I am interested in the cuisines of many cultures and have been literally all over the world. I try to bring some of those "interesting" flavor profiles to my cooking and have had some good results. No complaints from the diners anyway.
You need to try things before you can rule them out. Many oil soluble flavors and nutrients go hand in hand. Other than dehydrated veg powders, herbs and peppers are usually bloomed in fat before they are added to a dish. Methods vary. There are many good blends out there that may meet your needs if you are not too adventurous. Hope this is helpful.
    GO day 16!

Hi All, glad to see a bunch of people stating the 26th. My biggest piece of advise is to read the book and the associated materials. ThE "Rules" are not guidelines, or maybes or if ya wannas. This is or it isn't, there really is no in between, so if there is anyone who thinks they are not ready for this yet, then your probably right. Sorry but that's the truth not a judgment in any way. I would also like to add that you are in control at all times. NO ONE is going to force you to put anything in your maw, you have to do that yourself. This is about controlling what those things are. Get rid of the dis-, un-, not- allowed now and hopefully not down your gullet. It is NOT HARD, to be able to eat meat, veg, little fruit, and all kinds of lovely fat, fat, fat. If you think that a bagel or a muffin or a bowl of cereal with marshmallows is what you need then go ahead, your in control, it's your body Damn it!  But you are not doing a Whole 30. First slip, pick a new start date, simple. It's as easy as that. Being in war is hard, true starvation is hard, childbirth is hard, but this is not hard. It's 30 days that you have to not treat as deprivation, because it's not. If you follow it, you will be opening a door to to a new way of life, not just eating.
    Welcome and enjoy the ride.
