My OH *thinks* he is doing a whole30 because i no longer cook potatoes He doesn't seem to realise that his nightly beer & bowl of ice cream & chocolate plus morning porridge and lunchtime sandwich might make a difference. I just let him do his thing

Good luck My personal experience with gluten is that i don't get any GI issues, but i do get brain fog & low moods - which ended up being hard to notice through the brain fog & low mood!

That's sometimes easier said than done I smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 15 years, knowing full well the health risks. Even 2 years after quitting, i would still find myself thinking of having "just one" cigarette at certain times of the day. Old habits die hard!

Same place here... Completed a Whole30 in January this year & felt great, but then chocolate returned...   I intended to do another in April, which became May, which became June - finally decided, almost on a spur of the moment, to start again on June 10th. Went well until around day 27, when i had a suspect sausage  while out for a meal. I decided to add days on & carried on to about day 44, then made some "paleo treats" & went downhill a bit. I've been climbing back on & off the wagon since.
I'm trying to keep positive though! If i can have regular periods of Whole30-eating which last for days (instead of hours!), then that's better than eating junk everyday. If i eat junk one day, then that's better than eating junk for a week. A Whole30 may be the ideal, but a Whole12 is better than a Whole4, & a Whole4 is better than doing nothing. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good

Yeah, i do this What i _have_ found though is that each time it gets a little less bad, if that makes sense? Each time there are fewer things i want to binge on & i'll do it for less time. I'm hoping eventually i'll stop completely I'm certainly better at recognising what's going on & am more aware of the consequences if i do fall off track. It does get better!

Cook up a big load of mince. Cook a load of different veggies. Then come meal time you can mix & match, add a few different spices, maybe a splash of coconut milk or some stock & you've got a meal in no time. Meat, roasted squash & coconut milk is a nice breakfast combo

My other half has bad eczema on his feet which has been bothering him lately. As i sat watching him picking his feet (romantic night in!), i said "are you going to make another appointment with the doctor? Or perhaps you could do an elimination diet like i've been doing?". He replied "Well, i have been, haven't i? I eat the same dinner as you"
    Yes, dear.
We'll just discount the porridge oats for breakfast, the pizza/burger/sandwich/sausage roll at lunch, the chocolate biscuits in your cup of tea (milk, one sugar), the bowl of ice cream with chocolate raisins after your Whole30-compliant dinner, the nightly can of beer & the smoking. Sounds like a pretty good Whole30 to me!

    What?

Roz Griffiths got a reaction from Ksemler7 in day 28 & struggling!
I've made it to day 28 & i feel i should be really pleased with myself (i am, kinda ), but the past couple of days i've been at war with my Sugar Dragon like never before! I'm a bit disappointed really. Just a few days ago i had the whole Tiger Blood thing going on & i was on top of the world. But now i really want some chocolate - badly! I really hoped i'd gained some control over my cravings, but yesterday i spent about 3 hours really wanting chocolate & being very grumpy with everyone. I've often had depression in the past & have felt so much better since starting this, but now it feels like it's returning. My Sensible Head knows full well that sugar/gluten=depression/low moods & congestion, & that i feel better when i eat this way, but i feel as if the Sugar Dragon is rubbing its claws & making plans for a massive binge on Thursday! Aargh!! Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
