    "Tiger Blood" anyone? I'm so curious how the rest of you are doing, as we are approaching our halfway mark. I can't say that I've experienced the tiger blood effect, just yet, but I think I'm getting there. I did my first work out, since being on Whole30 and it felt great! I recently bought an elliptical machine and a stationary bike for $25 at a garage sale. They needed cleaned up, and the bike needs a little work, but the elliptical machine works great!! I put on a Netflix show that I love (Gilmore Girls), and was so distracted that I went for an hour and 10 minutes!! (Approx 700 calories ) Probably a little more than I should have done, but it felt great. Anyway, half way through and I've occasionally had longings for something sweet, but not too bad. Loving the food and feeling pretty strong. I think the hardest part is facing emotional eating urges. We're having some serious family stress and sadness right now, with a terminal cancer diagnosis. Facing regular boughts of tears. I sure would love to grab something from the bakery and head to a park to drown my sorrows in sugar all by myself. However, the same thing that is making me feel sad, has also become my catalyst for focus and making this whole food way of eating, a new lifestyle beyond the 30 days. No way do I want to continue the cycles of an unhealthy lifestyle and put my family through more heartache. How about you? What struggles are you facing? Are you feeling strong?

    How did it go?? I was thinking of trying this one, too. My teenage son is skeptic of all whole 30 meals... and sweet potatoes aren't his fave. I'm curious if you and your boyfriend liked it?

    NSV!!! In the last few years, I've noticed that my eyesight has been getting more and more blurry. I've been blaming it on using a smart phone. It's gotten so bad this last year, that I've had my husband and son read the Netflix movie descriptions on the t.v., cause it's a blurry mess. We've not had time to watch anything for a couple weeks, then I turned it on late at night when I was having trouble sleeping. (Been sleeping good... I just had lots on my mind.) Anyway, I was squinting to see and was surprised to find it wasn't blurry at all... then realized I was squinting out of habit... so I relaxed my eyes and found that I could read it just fine. It was totally crisp and clear!!! What the HECK?!? I knew that sugars can have an effect on your eyesight, but WOW!! I had no idea it was responsible for so much!!! This is such a HUGE relief!! I've been really worried about losing my eyesight, and now I'm so blessed to know that's not likely in my future, so long as I continue eating Whole30 style! Woop! Woop!! I am beyond excited about this... really... ecstatic!

    I was just telling my husband this!! The Whole 30 recipes are so amazingly good, I would love to go to a restaurant and choose from a menu with all W30 foods!! With the health conscious trend growing as fast as it is, it would be an amazingly successful restaurant chain.

    Love: I'm LOVING the recipes and how much my husband and I can enjoy the food together, rather than having to make special food for just me. Struggle: I'm struggling on occasion with having to "make" something for every meal. I need to find some good "grab-and-go" options for us.

    You're welcome. It really is fun to see it growing and knowing that you're doing it right! LOL You should read up on what type of tea to use. Be sure to check ingredients on tea boxes. Avoid added oils, flavors, etc. You need just plain, organic black and green tea. You'll also want to search youtube for ideas on 2nd fermentations, for adding flavors. Happy brewing!!

    I watched a ton of youtube videos before starting, because everyone has a little bit of a different approach in their kitchen. The one tip I'll give you is how to get your own scoby started, because this was super helpful to me, when I needed a new one and my kombucha friends didn't have one to spare at the time. Just buy a bottle of "original raw organic" kombucha from the store. Remove the lid and secure a paper towel to the top of it with a rubber band. Then put it up in a cupboard or pantry for a couple of weeks. You'll see a scoby growing at the top of the liquid. This becomes the scoby and starter tea for your first batch! Basic instructions for a batch are: Brewing Kombucha Tea Combine hot water and sugar in a glass jar. ... Place the tea or tea bags in the sugar water to steep. Cool the mixture to room temperature (68-85ºF) Remove the tea bags or completely strain the loose tea leaves from the liquid. Add starter tea from a previous batch to the liquid. ... Add an active kombucha SCOBY Cover the jar with a tight-weave towel or coffee filter and secure with a rubber band. (or clean cheesecloth) Allow the mixture to sit undisturbed at 68-85°F, out of direct sunlight, for 7-30 days, or to taste. The longer the kombucha ferments, the less sweet and more vinegary it will taste. Pour kombucha off the top of the jar for consuming. Retain the SCOBY and enough liquid from the bottom of the jar to use as starter tea for the next batch. The finished kombucha can be flavored and bottled, if desired, or enjoyed plain.

    I make homemade kombucha, too!! Do you do a 2nd fermentation with fruits or herbs, or just add the lemon/orange water to the first firmentation? I usually do strawberry, then mix it with sparkling mineral water to drink. This time I did a blend of several fruits. We'll see how it tastes, in a week or so. Lemon/orange water sounds good, too! Nice to have a tasty drink that doesn't give you feelings of guilt.

    THAT IS AWESOME!!! ~~~ Nice job staying on track. Wednesday nights have been my husband's and my date nights, fir years. Being our first week on W30, I didn't feel ready to face a restaurant menu. I know it's possible, but I just didn't want to deal with it. Fortunately, my husband agreed and I've been making sure we have good food ready in the kitchen, so I was able to throw together a quick, tasty, and compliant meal. Another "superpower" feeling! Love that!!

    Welcome to the group, HolliRain. So, is this your first time doing Whole30? Sounds like you've got a jump start, having been on a paleo diet. I know there are some differences, but very similar. I'm missing the ability to use stevia, too. I had only recently begun trying gluten free options. I don't often drink wine, but I love my kombucha and it's W30 approved!! You might consider trying this in the evenings, in place of your wine. To top it off, it's really good for your gut health, providing probiotics, good bacteria, etc. Cheers!

    I had a massive headache yesterday, too. I didn't attribute it to the sugar detox, but that makes sense. I'm feeling MUCH better today. However, I feel like I have odd detox breath. Have you seen anything about breath mints or gum that is Whole30 approved? I need to do more research on that.
