    Who's starting 1/1?

I'm happy to hear, and slightly jealous of everyone's tiger blood! I haven't felt it yet myself. I just feel as tired as normal, maybe slightly less. I'm always a tired person and I think its more sleep related than diet related so I don't know if it'll get better this month.

    Super Slow Reintro

So for the sake of being as kind as possible to my body and really examining my relationship with different foods, I want to take my reintro super slow. I'm still working out how I'm going to do it (and there's plenty of time as I'm currently on day 17) so I wanted to start a thread to brainstorm possible schedules and ideas about how to do this. For me, I think I can mostly identify the foods that are going to be more problematic. For example, legumes will probably not bother me at all but sugar and gluten probably will. There is also alcohol, which needs to be broken down into cleaner alcohol like vodka and sugary, yeasty alcohol like beer and wine. I want to reintro as slow as possible so that I can look at each individual thing more closely. I think I will reintro specific foods/drinks one at a time in my own order, by priority of how much I like them rather than what is least likely to bother me. Then, in between, I'll stay pretty much whole30. I'm thinking of stretching this out over the course of a month, or maybe longer. I can use one day of each week as my reintro day to stay consistent. Foods I know I want to eat: Ice cream Beer Red Wine Pasta Cheese Yogurt Rice Vodka @zesty_ruffles @Jihanna

    Super Slow Reintro

    Super Slow Reintro

The thing I guess I need to be careful of is that sugar comes with all of those things... so I need to keep that in mind when/if I get any symptoms.

    Whole 20 with Reintroduction??

I think you can do pretty much whatever you want but I personally wouldn't do it this way. I would stay compliant for the whole 30 days and be really selective about the reintro, even while family is visiting. It gives you a good excuse not to go totally crazy while they are in town so you don't over-indulge but you can still treat yourself a bit with previously forbidden foods.

    Who's starting 1/1?

@Jihanna that is basically exactly what I'm thinking. I'm going to start a new thread for slow reintro so that we don't spam anyone who doesn't want to be in it. I'll tag you and @zesty_ruffles

    Who's starting 1/1?

@zesty_ruffles I am really sorry to hear this. I did something similar actually, we use cast iron pans for almost all of our cooking and I realized just yesterday that I've been seasoning them with crisco which is soybean oil There is nothing we can do about it now and its not worth ditching the entire program over something like this. All we can do is keep going and be more vigilant going forward. I think its a good idea to add some time, maybe a week, before you reintro. It won't be as hard as it sounds because you're adding it at the end, after you've had all of this practice and your body has gotten more used to eating whole foods. I am actually planning to reintro super slow this time around so I may end up quasi-whole30 for a few months. Reach out anytime if you want a reintro buddy!

    Who's starting 1/1?

I can't believe how late I am to the party! Half way through and I had no idea this thread was here I also started on 1/1 and this is my third (successful) Whole30. I say that because I've started a few others and then bailed because I wasn't committed enough. This round is going very smoothly so far. I haven't had any issues staying compliant and I even found a restaurant tonight where I could eat!! Its called Burtons Grill and I think its a chain so they might be all over. A bit expensive but worth it to have someone cook for you! The only issue I'm having is that I'm not sleeping well at all. Anyone else? It could be totally unrelated to the diet but something tells me its not. I am also an egg donor and I'll be going in for the procedure next week. I've done this several times before so I know what to expect but I've never been on a whole30 at the same time... I know I'll be very tired and sore afterward so I'm not going to want to cook and my stomach will be sensitive. Anyone have some good recipes that I can make ahead that aren't too heavy? Maybe some soups or soft foods? Anything would be helpful

Not Feeling Hungry - Day 15

Hi Allie! I am having the same moments of no-appetite every once in a while. I think that because my brain hasn't been winning in the cravings war, I'm just getting used to only eating when I'm hungry. I was never really too unhealthy but I definitely used to give into my cravings and eat out of boredom so now that I'm actively avoiding doing that, I can't force myself to eat when I don't actually need to. I think its probably fine as long as I'm eating enough throughout the day (which I definitely always do). Unfortunately I can't relate to the extreme hunger, I hope that stops happening for you because it sounds awful. Maybe try getting ahead of it and eating a bit earlier?
  10. Its day 10. I know that I'm in the hardest days but this isn't my first W30 so I though I'd be alright. I've been sitting on my couch all day long with no desire to do anything, I can't stop thinking about ice cream, and I actually physically stink. Like, I woke up with body odor and have stunk all day long. Is this just the toxins coming out through my skin? I don't remember this from last time but it has to be related to the diet right? I just want the ice cream sooo bad

    Only 2 meals a day?

I only eat 2 meals a day. I've never really felt that 3 meals were necessary for me. I do eat pretty big meals both times, but not to the point where I'm disgustingly full, just regular full. I don't see an issue with it personally.

    Brain Fog

Brain fog for me is typically due to candida die-off. If your diet change has been really drastic this may just be your gut bacteria weening off the sugars its used to.

No Poop Going on Day 9

This is my life struggle. Whether I'm on the program or not, staying regular is pretty much a constant struggle for me. Here's what does it when I get desperate... High amounts of very fibrous, raw veggies like kale, carrots, broccoli. Don't skip out on your other foods (fats, proteins, etc.) but just eat way more fiber. Sometimes I'll just eat raw carrots all day long to get some good fiber into me. Coffee. If you already drink a cup a day, drink another one. Or you could try making it extra strong. If you don't normally drink any coffee, a cup should do it. Way way way more water. Especially if you're going to up your caffeine, drink about two glasses of water before your coffee, after your coffee, and before each meal. You seriously can't get enough of it when you're constipated because your body needs water to push all of that old, dehydrated poo out of you Gelatin and MCT oil in my coffee. Just be really careful with MCT oil because if your body isn't already used to it and you take too much, you will literally s*** your pants. If I do all of this in a day, it finally happens either that day or the next for me. Good luck guys! Let me know if it works out for you

    Constipation and bloating

For me, I rely pretty heavily on avocados because I love them so much. I also use coconut oil (you can add it to just about anything) and coconut milk whenever I can. If you drink coffee, you can add either or both milk/oil to your coffee and blend it. Its like a Whole30 latte and really yummy. Also, if you like beef, its a fattier meat than fish and chicken so that could help too.

    Heart impact

This is interesting. I've never paid attention to my heart rate during a whole30. Did it eventually even out?
  16. I am an egg donor and I have one coming up this month on day 24 of my Whole30. I've done this several times so I'm not super worried about it but I do get really sore and bloated after the procedure. They always tell me to drink a lot of gatorade for the electrolytes but obviously that is not compliant. Is there something else I can drink to get a similar effect? Maybe coconut water? I don't really like it but I could probably manage. They also hand me cranberry or orange juice right after I wake up for my blood sugar since I have to fast the day of the procedure but I can't drink the canned stuff they'll give me so what should I bring with me? Just some fresh squeezed juice or something? Also, just curious, is the actual procedure even compliant? I mean what effect does anesthesia have on your body? I'll donate either way, but I'm curious.

    Cookware Recommendations?

I use cast iron for literally everything I cook and I love it so much. As long as you season it well, it is the easiest and most versatile cookware ever.

    Yeast Infection Medication

I used to suffer from chronic yeast infections and that is actually what brought me to the Whole30 the first time i did it. I'm on my 3rd one in about 5 years (I like to restart every once in a while but normally try to eat whole foods in between too) and I no longer suffer from yeast infections. I'm not trying to advise you one way or the other as far as taking fluconazole but I want to share my story with you because it may be similar to yours. I also had the recurring infections and the prescription to go along with it. I took a pill about once a month when my infection would flare up and it would usually take care of it for the most part but not permanently since it would always come back within a few weeks to a month. I had other symptoms too, frequent constipation, constant bloating, cramping. I starting doing some research into underlying causes and I also saw a naturopathic doctor which totally changed my life. Basically, the way fluconazole works is by killing all of the bacteria in your body, including candida (yeast). The problem with this is that your gut no longer has any healthy bacteria to fight off future candida and the vicious cycle repeats itself nonstop. Sugars, yeasty foods, and simple carbs then enter your body when you eat and feed the candida further which causes another infection. You have almost no control over this if your body doesn't have enough good bacteria in it. My doctor ordered bloodwork and found that I was actually nutrient deficient across the board because my body wasn't absorbing the nutrients in my food because it wasn't even able to break down my food without the bacteria I needed. Then, undigested bits of food were getting through my system and into my gut where the candida fed on it and went wild. Basically, I had a whole-system candida infection for YEARS of my life and the way it was manifesting was via yeast infections, constipation, and bloating. What I discovered, is that a really good probiotic and a change of diet can fix all of that without ever having to take the pill again. Now, I would never ever take fluconazole again in my life because I know that it would cause that whole chain of events to happen again. I take a super good probiotic every day and if I feel I'm about to get a yeast infection I take 2 or 3. You can also put probiotics directly into your vagina if you feel like you're going to get one. You do have to make sure that you get a good quality probiotic though, and if its not refrigerated, don't take it. So yes, I do still get them very rarely but when I do, its always because my diet has completely off-railed and I've been living on pasta and beer for weeks straight (sometimes I just lose control, what can I say). Now this might not be enough at first, my naturopath had me taking a digestive enzyme with meals to help my body break down the foods so that I could absorb nutrients and stop feeding the bad guys and I took that for about a year with all food. Now I still take those when I'm going to eat something really unhealthy like pasta or a bowl of ice cream but I don't need them at every meal, and I certainly don't need them during my Whole30. So anyways, I guess I am kind of telling you not to take the pill but I'm not a doctor or anything so you should take that with a grain of salt. This is just my experience and I do believe that taking fluconazole will make it worse instead of better, but you should make an informed decision on your own. I would definitely however, recommend seeing a naturopathic doctor instead of a regular one.

    Alcohol on Reintroduction

So I was just reading through the reintro schedule and I am determined to follow it this time around. This is my second whole30 and I am about half way through (day 14, woot woot!). I did the first one a few years ago and it was amazing, but I totally messed up my system by eating all of the bad things immediately after it was over. This time, I am trying to make it right by reseting my system and paying close attention to the foods that hurt afterward. So anyway, I made plans to go on vacation with some friends about a week into my reintroduction. I am curious about alcohol because I'm going to be with drinkers and I really want to participate. I know I can make "good" alcohol choices like going for clear spirits over heavy beers and sticking to gluten free vodkas, but alcohol is still alcohol. I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully reintroduced booze without misery and if so, when and how did you do it? There isn't anything in the reintroduction about alcohol so I figured I should try here. Thanks!

    TMI: Constipation

I'm on day 17. One of the food issues that led me to the program is that I've always struggled with bm irregularity with frequent constipation and bloating as one of my main concerns. I've been very regular for the first half but in the last 3 days I've been constipated and I have no idea why. I know that hormonal changes can cause some constipation right after your period but even that was fine. Now I'm about in the middle of my cycle and, nothing. I've been eating different variations of the same things, compliant meats, lots of veggies, some nuts, a little bit of fruit. I've seen plenty of positive changes, waist looks smaller, skin is clearer, better energy, but I know that it's healthy to poop everyday and I'm not sure why it isn't happening.

    TMI: Constipation

Ok. I will cut back on the nuts and nutmilk (even though I love almond milk) and I will be sure to up my water intake. Thanks!

    TMI: Constipation

I eat an avacodo most every day. I cook with lots of fats, olive oil, coconut oil, ghee, animal fats. I have about 1/2 handful of cashews per day. I've been using a dressing I made with coconut milk. I drink some almond milk, maybe 1/2 cup per day. I also put a tablespoon of gelatin in my coffee everyday, although not sure if that counts as a fat or a protein.

    TMI: Constipation

I haven't been tracking exactly how much water I've been drinking. I'll start paying more attention but I've definitely been drinking more than I usually do. No supplements, and as far as activity, I've been more active than usual, and much more active than the beginning of the program when I was exhausted all the time. I've been biking every other day for the last week and I'm a waitress so I walk a lot at work.

Black beans as first reintro food - help! Tmi

I don't think I would be concerned unless there were other symptoms present. Cramping, discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, pain, etc. It is pretty normal for your poo to change along with your diet. I am definitely no expert but for me, the food sensitivity issues I am looking to uncover are the ones that are uncomfortable and difficult to live with. If it weirds you out, maybe only have beans every once in a while but I wouldn't be worried about saying goodbye forever.
